Love That Extends Life

Chapter 111: Climbing the Mountain to Pick Herbs

Because they had already learned something about each other from Chu Yunhao, the three of them communicated very smoothly and quickly became good friends as if they had known each other for a long time.

Wu Yanzi's tone was gentle and kind, which made Liu Sijing and Zhou Shiyu have a very good first impression of her, thinking that she was a well-educated and reasonable person; and Liu Sijing and Zhou Shiyu's cheerfulness and liveliness also made Wu Yanzi like them. In this way, the three of them got along better and better, and the atmosphere was very harmonious.

Qixia Mountain is a famous scenic spot in Nanshi and even in the Jiangnan region.

Qixia Mountain is half of the history of Jinling. Emperor Qianlong once called it "the first beautiful mountain in Jinling", and the ruins of Emperor Qianlong's palace are located in Qixia Mountain.

There are many tourist attractions in Qixia Mountain. The famous attractions include the thousand-year-old Qixia Temple, Rainbow Mirror, Peach Blossom Lake, Peach Blossom Fan Pavilion, Ming Zhengjun Stele, Maitreya Hall, Flying Apsaras Murals, Hengha Hall, the First Emperor's Riverside Place, Thousand Buddha Rock, and the ruins of Emperor Qianlong's Palace.

This time, Chu Yunhao came to Qixia Mountain with Liu Sijing and Zhou Shiyu to pick Chinese medicinal herbs. Naturally, they had to travel around first. They chose two attractions, the Rainbow Mirror and the Qixia Temple.

The Rainbow Mirror is the first sight you see when you enter Qixia Mountain. The Rainbow Mirror is the collective name of the Rainbow Bridge and the Mirror Lake. The Mirror Lake has clear blue water and bright sunlight. There is a hexagonal pavilion on the lake, connected by a curved bridge that looks like a rainbow, and is nicknamed the "Rainbow Mirror".

In ancient times, Mingjing Lake was a natural formation. The Peach Blossom Stream and the Zhongfeng Stream in the mountains all flowed into Mingjing Lake. There are many water lilies and lotus flowers in the lake, and the weeping willows and sweetgum trees on the shore complement each other, so this place has become a good place for tourists to relax.

The scenery becomes beautiful because of the presence of people. On the lakeside that is as clear and bright as a mirror, Chu Yunhao and Wu Yanzi walk side by side, while Liu Sijing and Zhou Shiyu accompany them. At this moment, Liu Sijing holds her mobile phone and keeps pressing the shutter, as if she wants to take in the beautiful scenery in front of her.

Zhou Shiyu kept looking at Chu Yunhao and Wu Yanzi. She originally thought that Wu Yanzi would be a stunning beauty, but that was not the case. Wu Yanzi was plain-looking and nothing special. She couldn't figure out what Chu Yunhao liked about Wu Yanzi. Was it because Wu Yanzi had a unique family background? But Zhou Shiyu didn't notice any aristocratic aura in Wu Yanzi. But now, Chu Yunhao and Wu Yanzi were able to get together, which made Zhou Shiyu deeply confused.

Since Wu Yanzi was not a stunning beauty and did not show a noble temperament, Zhou Shiyu could not help but have some strange thoughts in her mind. She felt that there might be a chance for her and Chu Yunhao to develop, after all, she was much prettier than Wu Yanzi. Thinking of this, Zhou Shiyu's eyes flashed with a barely perceptible light of expectation.

After visiting Mingjing Lake, the group of four came to Qixia Temple, which has a thousand-year history.

This ancient and solemn temple is located on the west foot of Fengxiang Peak, the main peak of the scenic Qixia Mountain. Surrounded by lush trees, it gives people a sense of tranquility and peace. Due to its long history and visitors' belief in cause and effect, it attracts many believers to come here to make wishes and pray.

Four people were going to climb Mount Qixia to pick some precious Chinese medicinal herbs. On the way up the mountain, they happened to pass by Qixia Temple, so the four decided to stop by to pay their respects and make a wish from their deepest hearts.

After entering the temple, they prayed devoutly and made a wish silently.

Chu Yunhao clasped his hands together and prayed sincerely that he could recover soon. Because only in this way could he muster the courage to express his love to his beloved Wu Yanzi and stay with her forever. This beautiful and firm wish became Chu Yunhao's most ardent expectation.

Qixia Mountain is composed of three mountains and two streams. The middle peak is the highest, also known as Fengxiang Peak. The middle peak stretches eastward, and the part winding down is called the East Peak, which looks like a sleeping dragon and is named Longshan. The mountain ridge on the west side of the middle peak looks like a crouching tiger, called Hushan. There is a valley between the middle peak and the East Peak, called the Middle Peak Stream, and there is a valley between the middle peak and the West Peak, called the Peach Blossom Stream.

The four chose to pick Chinese medicinal herbs at Hushan, the western peak of Qixia Mountain. The entire Hushan and Taohuajian are rich in Chinese medicinal herbs. There are many Chinese medicinal herbs such as licorice, wild ginseng, and angelica here, so some Chinese medicine enthusiasts come here to pick Chinese medicinal herbs.

When we arrived at the foot of Tiger Mountain, Liu Sijing began to introduce.

"There are many kinds of medicinal herbs in Qixia Mountain, and it is said that there are more than 400 kinds. Since ancient times, the Chinese herbal medicine resources of Qixia Mountain have been well-known in Nanshi and even in East China. Famous doctors Ge Xuan, Ge Hong, Tao Hongjing and Li Shizhen have all gone to Qixia Mountain to collect medicinal materials."

Wu Yanzi nodded to Liu Sijing's introduction. In fact, she had come here to identify herbs when she was studying at the Nanjing University College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She remembered that she found and recorded more than 360 kinds of herbs in her diary. The university teachers at that time called Hushan in Qixia Mountain "Hundred Herb Garden", so ordinary herbs can be seen everywhere.

During the process of picking herbs, Chu Yunhao and Wu Yanzi were in a group, Chu Yunhao held the bag while Wu Yanzi picked the herbs. Liu Sijing and Zhou Shiyu were in a group, both of them carried the packaging bags and dug or picked the herbs together.

Chu Yunhao and Wu Yanzi walked slowly up the mountain along the mountain road between Taohuajian and Hushan, occasionally stopping and walking for a while in the surrounding areas.

When it was difficult to walk in a place, Chu Yunhao would reach out and hold Wu Yanzi's hand. Wu Yanzi would also let Chu Yunhao hold her hand, and a shy smile would appear on Wu Yanzi's face.

"Holding your hand, and growing old with you." This is how Chu Yunhao feels at this moment, and he also hopes that he can continue like this forever.

The air on the mountain was fresh and the scenery was pleasant. The two of them strolled along the way, enjoying the beauty of nature. Wu Yanzi introduced the characteristics and uses of various Chinese medicinal materials to Chu Yunhao from time to time, and Chu Yunhao listened with great interest.

"Brother Chu, you are now the vice president of a pharmaceutical company. You should know more about Chinese medicinal materials so that you can communicate better with customers."

"Haha, yes! Sister Yan Zi, that's why I invited you here so that I can ask you about these herbs. In just a short while, we have picked so many herbs in our pockets. Sister Yan Zi, you are amazing!"

Wu Yanzi can identify herbs at a glance, which is related to her family background of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners when she was young, and also due to her hard work and study. She remembers that when she was a child, her grandmother gave her herbs, and she could identify hundreds of herbs by touching or smelling them, so she has a deep understanding of traditional Chinese medicine.

Wu Yanzi took this opportunity to pick some herbs that could cure Chu Yunhao's illness, but she also picked some other good herbs. After all, these were purely wild herbs, and therefore they were superior Chinese medicinal materials in terms of medicinal properties and efficacy.

Every time Wu Yanzi put a herb in, Chu Yunhao would remember it according to Wu Yanzi's introduction. Chu Yunhao was indeed a top student. As long as Wu Yanzi told him the properties of the herb, Chu Yunhao could remember them one by one, and also remember the appearance of the herb.
