Yi Xin as a concubine

Chapter 68 Awakening

Xier and Lianrong stayed by her side for a whole day. They chattered a lot beside the bed, but Xin Baoer remained motionless and showed no intention of waking up.

The two discussed with the maid and decided to take turns to rest at night. If there was still no improvement tomorrow morning, Xier would go back and ask her master to come.

At night, seeing that it was getting late, the two of them took a lot of effort to persuade Zhao Xian and Wei Yu to leave. They closed the doors and windows, carefully checked Xin Baoer's condition, and then one of them stayed to watch over her while the other went to rest on the couch, and they would take over again in the second half of the night.

The night became increasingly quiet. The only sounds in the room were Xier's steady breathing and Lianrong, who was lying on the head of the bed with her sleepy little forehead nodding slowly. Soon she fell into a deep sleep.

A slender and graceful figure quickly climbed in through the window. As soon as she came in, the window closed silently again. No wind was felt blowing in, but Xier, who was sleeping by the window, unconsciously tightened the quilt.

The woman moved Lianrong, who was sleeping very soundly, to a different position, sat beside the bed, took Xin Baoer's arm and felt her pulse. She frowned, then took out a silver needle and began to insert it into Xin Baoer's body, without even touching her body through the clothes. She was obviously very confident that she would not insert the needle into the wrong acupoint.

Not long after, Xin Baoer became a hedgehog covered with silver needles.

Time passed little by little, and the woman rubbed the ends of the needles from time to time. When the time was up, she pulled out the silver needles one by one with great ease. Her posture was very relaxed, without any of the seriousness and caution of curing illnesses and saving lives.

Only after the last needle was pulled out did the woman rub her sore wrist, stand up and walk to the table to pour herself a cup of tea. She touched the wall of the cup and found it was still warm. The freezing coldness on her body seemed to have dissipated a little.

"Your little maid is good and very dedicated."

In the silent room, only the woman's cold voice echoed, and no one responded for a long time.

"I know you've woken up, so why deceive yourself and scare yourself? Someone asked me to pass on a message. I'll take you away on the day of the Wanshou Festival election, but I need your cooperation."

Xin Baoer had indeed woken up at this moment, but she felt that her soul was floating in the air. She could hear someone talking to her, but she could not open her eyes or mouth.

"You're not talking. Does that mean you don't want to cooperate? Or do you not need anyone's help and want to try it on your own?" The woman's voice was cold but contained an inexplicable sarcasm.

Xin Baoer was so anxious that she wanted to agree, but she just couldn't open her mouth. She was so anxious that she almost cried, and in fact, tears did flow from the corners of her eyes.

The woman seemed not to have seen it. Seeing that she was still unaware, she said again: "Since you don't need it, I will return the kindness over there."

Xin Baoer heard the sound of the stool rubbing against the ground, and even heard some light, almost inaudible footsteps, which made her even more anxious.

How could she not need help? She dreamed of leaving here.

The footsteps were getting farther and farther away. She seemed to hear the sound of a door opening. She was so anxious that she suddenly exerted force and finally opened her eyes. Then she almost screamed, "Wait! Don't go!"

As soon as she said this, she was stunned. Her voice was hoarse and difficult, as if her throat was damaged. Even though she felt like she was shouting, there was not much sound.

This scared her.

"It's okay, it will be fine in a month, and it won't affect your eating and drinking." It was that cold female voice again.

Xin Baoer suddenly turned her head to look in the direction of the woman, and saw that the woman was wearing a lilac-colored long skirt, which looked a little blurry in the dim candlelight.

For a moment she couldn't tell what the man looked like.

"Who are you?" Xin Baoer asked vigilantly, her body tense.

"The person who just rescued you." The woman said as she walked over.

Feeling her approaching, Xin Baoer subconsciously moved closer and remained alert.

When the person finally came to the bedside, he took out a night-shining pearl the size of a baby's fist from his arms. Through the soft light of the night-shining pearl, Xin Baoer finally saw the person clearly.

"It's you again. You've saved me twice." Xin Baoer smiled bitterly.

"I guess so, but I am also doing my duty because of a trust placed in me." The woman still spoke in a cold, businesslike tone.

"That note was also given to me by you, right?" Xin Baoer said affirmatively.

"Yes, but you don't seem to be very smart. How come you can come up with such a crappy idea to disfigure yourself?" The woman expressed her disgust.

"If I say it was an accident, you definitely won't believe it." Xin Baoer smiled bitterly but frankly.

"Although I'm not a doctor, I just carefully examined your scar. Based on my many years of experience in the martial arts world, a piece of porcelain dropped from that height would only leave a shallow scratch on your face after it bounced back. But your wound is too deep."

"You're not a doctor?" Xin Baoer was a little surprised. The person who saved her actually said that he was not a doctor.

"What's that expression on your face? The silver needle was originally my hidden weapon for self-defense when I was traveling around the world. Later, I accidentally found a needle manual. The needle method described in it can be used to save people or to kill people. I thought it was quite useful, so I learned it."

"You're pretty awesome!" Xin Baoer felt like she was listening to a script, her expression a little dazed.

"By the way, you still need to see a doctor tomorrow. I reminded you before that you should stop worrying, but you didn't take it seriously. Your heart meridians are blocked to varying degrees. I just cleared them for you. I'll find a chance to clear them again in the next two days. You'll feel much better. But you still need to take medication. That's a doctor's job, and I don't know how to do it."

The woman didn't hear any response for a long time after she finished speaking, and then she realized that the woman on the bed was looking at her strangely.

"I thought you were a quiet person."

"That's true, but I think you need someone to talk to you more right now." The woman replied irritably.

Xin Baoer smiled, a very gentle and peaceful smile. She felt that although the woman in front of her looked cold, her heart was warm. Maybe she just felt that it was troublesome to get along with strangers, so she showed an attitude of keeping people at a distance.

"You are too weak, that's why you are so sad. You worry about this and that." The woman felt a little disgusted with this smile.

Seeing how she looked like she despised her but wanted to persuade her at the same time, Xin Baoer suddenly thought that this person was quite cute, so she also felt the desire to confide in her.

"I am weak, but I don't want to die. I am just sick, a mental illness. It's like there is an invisible evil person living in my head. She will seize my sadness, anxiety and other negative emotions, constantly tempt me to amplify those emotions, and then hurt myself and others."

Xin Baoer said these incredible words very calmly, and finally forced a smile.

"What kind of disease is this? Why is it so similar to being possessed by a demon, but you don't have any internal energy?" The woman was puzzled.

"Just think of it as mental disorder. It's just that most of the time I can control myself and not let myself go crazy. In fact, as long as I keep my mind calm and peaceful, I won't get sick. Or once I train my heart to be strong enough, my illness will be cured."

"I don't understand!" the woman said bluntly. Xin Baoer laughed, "Actually, I don't understand either!"

"You seem to be in good condition now, let's talk about business!" The woman looked at Xin Baoer who was amusing herself with disdain and decisively changed the subject.

Xin Baoer blinked, but asked another question.

"Is my maid okay?"

"What could it be? Just a good night's sleep."

The woman replied indifferently.

"Oh, then let's talk about business." Xin Baoer turned over and lay on her side, pretending to listen attentively.

"Let me ask you first, do you want to be the concubine of that dog emperor?" the woman asked coldly.

Xin Baoer shook her head.

"Do you want to be a concubine for those old perverts in the court?"

Xin Baoer shook her head again.

"Then do you mind being a concubine?" The woman's voice was still cold, but Xin Baoer heard a strange emotion in her words, as if she felt that these questions were ridiculous and she was disgusted to hear them come out of her own mouth.

"My mother's last wish was for me to be a concubine who lives in peace in the backyard and does not fight for anything." Xin Baoer said this without any extra emotion, which made people feel sad.

"Are you sure she's your mother, not your enemy?"

Xin Baoer finally saw the cold beauty fail as she wished, and she couldn't help but burst out laughing.
