Chapter 4 Chasing Troops

Not far from both ends of the section of State Highway 360 that was cut off by white fog, several cars with cross logos printed on them were parked quietly.

None of these cars had their lights on, as if no one was inside. However, the wide-open windows and the binoculars and night vision goggles sticking out of the windows indicated that these cars were not that simple.

"Reverend Coulson, that truck has emerged from the fog, and the driver appears to be old Nord's son, Bourne. Do we need to stop him?"

"Don't worry about him. They have helped us find the exact coordinates of the town. He is lucky to have made it out alive."

"There are three cars following him. They are from the Austin Vipers. Do we need to take care of them?"

"Hahaha, it seems that the baptism opportunity promised by Father Marcos can be saved for us true believers. This is truly God's will! We can't help each other!"

On the state's Highway 320, a cobalt blue Mark Anthem heavy truck was roaring along at full speed. Carrie was wearing Bourne's coat, with a faint layer of anger covering her slightly flushed face. From time to time, she looked at Bourne, who was holding the steering wheel with a serious expression, with complicated eyes.

Just now, she deliberately provoked Bourne's negative emotions. As long as Bourne did something out of line, she could teach this "bad guy who hit a woman" a lesson without violating the principles taught by her mother.

Whether it is pulling him into endless darkness for a few minutes, or stimulating the most terrifying fantasies in his heart, or sucking out all the air in front of him and making him feel the despair of suffocation, I believe it will leave a "deep" impression on him.

But what I didn't expect was that this guy could actually pass my test, and I was so lame that a pat on the head could actually make me lose my mind. It was not until the car started again that I realized that my head was almost resting on the other person's shoulder.

What a bad guy! I wonder how many girls on campus he has harmed with this trick. People like me who are inexperienced in the world should stay away from him!

However, this guy is quite handsome if you look closely. He feels good when he touches his forehead, but his eye socket still hurts a little from the punch. Hiss!

Thinking of the injury, Carrie felt a dull pain in her eyes again, and couldn't help but curse Bourne in her heart for not being so gentle!

Bourne's attention was not on the girl at this moment. Part of his attention was on the new talents that appeared in the talent column of the system panel in his mind: Dark Affinity (Primary) and Fire Affinity (Primary).

The other part was placed on the three cars that had been following his car since it broke out of the white fog.

"Carrie, are the people in the three cars behind you chasing you?"

Bourne suddenly spoke up and asked Carrie who was in a daze beside him.

Carrie was shocked. After being cheated, robbed, beaten, and a series of other incidents, she was no longer the naive high school girl. Thinking back to today's experience, could it be those hooligans who robbed her wallet? Would they chase here for a female student with no money?

Carrie shook her head and said in a hoarse voice: "It shouldn't be. I ran away secretly tonight and didn't tell anyone. No one will come after me!"

Her throat was a little dry. She had not had a good rest since she escaped from her aunt's house during the day. She was caught in the rain in the evening. Although she had some superpowers that ordinary people didn't know about, she was still a powerless girl after all. On this dark and deserted road, the only person she could rely on was the pervert son of the kind-hearted driver next to her.

Carrie asked nervously, "Could it be that they are going the same way?"

Bourne glanced at the three cars chasing him in the rearview mirror with their flashing lights on, and said calmly:

“We had just come out of town when they crashed down. It didn’t look like they were coming from the same route.

It doesn't matter, as long as we can hold on to the outskirts of San Antonio, we'll be fine. There are state police and local gangs there, and outside gangs won't get too close unless they want to get killed."

As he spoke, he lightly turned the steering wheel, and the truck swung its tail slightly, once again ruining the car behind's plan to overtake, causing the people in the car behind to curse loudly!

Damn Fuck!

Will you die if you drive honestly?

When I block you, I will hang you up and make you wag your tail to your heart’s content!

"Can we hold on until then?" Carrie was still a little worried.

"After being squeezed by me a few times, he has become much more obedient. As long as they don't have guns, there will be no problem..." Bourne comforted.

"boom--"

The crisp sound of gunfire echoed far away on the silent road, and also made the two people in the cab feel bad.

"They have guns, what should we do? Let's call the police!" Carrie was a little panicked.

Bastard, he actually shot!

Bourne didn't say anything, but he was secretly furious in his heart.

The kiss with Carrie just now had already aroused his anger, but he suppressed it out of responsibility. Now, someone else is trying to provoke him. Well, since you have drawn your guns, the matter has been escalated. Let's wait and see.

For the safety of the goods and considering the other party's lack of tact, Bourne decided to just resolve the issue peacefully.

This is not the first time that Bourne has experienced robbery. In Texas, where the people are tough and there are many chainsaw killers and highway butchers, there are some things that cannot be avoided and can only be faced head-on!

Although it was a bit strange this time, as Dad had not told him in advance that there were any remaining issues that needed to be resolved, but since the matter had come to him, Bourne would naturally follow Dad's usual approach - let the other party "lie down peacefully."

Bourne slowed down the car and parked it on the side of the road. He took out his father's pistol from the tool box, checked it briefly, and then put it in his waist skillfully. He turned his head and saw Carrie's worried eyes, and comforted her:

"Don't be nervous, I'll be good at convincing them!"

"What time is it? Are you still kidding? Don't go down. It will be dangerous. Should we call the police?"

“This is Texas!”

Bourne shook his head helplessly. Maybe there was something special about the girl in front of him, but she was just a high school girl who was not very worldly-wise and didn't know much about these gray area things. Not to mention when the state police would arrive in the middle of the night, even the cargo in the car could not be seen in public!

With a sharp sound of brakes, the three SUVs quickly overtook Bourne's truck and stopped about ten meters in front of them, blocking the truck's way forward.

As soon as the three cars stopped, a dozen people armed with sticks rushed out of the cars. The leader was a flashy young man in a white ball suit. He put a baseball bat on his shoulder and opened his suit, revealing a shiny silver pistol on his waist.

"Carrie!"

The man in the white suit shouted as soon as he got out of the car, his voice echoing far away on the quiet road in the middle of the night:

"You little bitch, you actually dared to sneak away tonight, ruining the 'big' surprise that Chris and I carefully prepared for you. Do you know how angry Chris is? Do you know how serious the consequences are?"

The man in the white suit became more and more angry as he shouted, and he waved the stick in his hand in the air unconsciously.

"It's him! He actually chased us here!"
