Chapter 10 Not Human
After thinking for a long time, Bourne decided to go to the town to find out what was going on.
Because of this barrier, both father and son could not leave for the time being. It was obvious that there must be some alien race in the town. If the formation connecting the alien space and this world was allowed to continue to exist, would there be more and more alien races? Would they let him and his father, who were trapped in the town, go?
"Dad, we might just become someone else's dish!"
Bourne muttered to himself as he looked at his father who was still unconscious in the back seat.
"You taught me that 'success comes from carefulness, and wealth comes from risk'. For the sake of our lives, I'd better go! I hope Father Marcos can help."
Bourne had long seen that the priest's purpose of coming to the town was not simple, and it seemed that he was investigating something targeting the town. Adhering to the American principle of "mind your own business", Bourne always turned a blind eye as long as it did not interfere with himself.
But now, Bourne only hopes that the priest really has some ability to exorcise demons, because when it comes to the supernatural, Bourne is still a complete amateur!
Without further ado, they parked the car at the entrance of the town. Bourne took off the cross bracelet given to him by the priest from his wrist and tied it around his father's wrist. He then took out a Smithson & Wesson M57 from his father's arms and put it on his belt. He checked the bullets and found that all six bullets were tracer bullets!
Dad, is this a night battle?
Bourne muttered to himself, but without thinking too much, he straightened his clothes and ran quickly into the town.
There is another scene in the town at this time:
Thick dark clouds covered the entire sky over the town, and they seemed to be falling down.
Looking around, none of the townspeople with indifferent eyes on the roadside had disappeared. There was no voice, barking of dogs, or chirping of insects on the entire street. It seemed as if the whole world was silent, dull, and terribly depressing. Only the indifferent wind was still blowing, bringing with it a faint hint of roars and shouts in the distance.
It’s the town center, the exhibition hall!
That's where the sound came from!
Bourne immediately found what he needed from the many sounds and successfully determined the direction from which the sound came.
This is all thanks to Old Joe, a black old man with a kind face but a black heart. It was his long-term training that made Bourne develop the good habit of understanding the map and mastering the terrain every time he arrived at a new place.
Although there was no one on the road, Bourne still carefully checked several houses along the street. After making sure that the entire street was indeed empty, he used the cover of the houses and trotted along the wall towards the town center.
Until on the road beside a house, several strange "meat piles" wriggling on the ground blocked Bourne's way.
These "meat lumps" have normal human heads and torsos but lack limbs. At this moment, they are like worms, using the strength of their chests and abdomens to wriggle slowly and hard towards the center of the town. Their difficult movements and their determination to move forward are like faithful believers going on a pilgrimage to the holy place in their hearts.
Not far behind the "meat dumpster", a trash can with a tightly closed lid was rolling on the ground, and from inside there could be heard the sound of kicking and sharp nails scratching metal.
Seeing this, Bourne couldn't help but have bad associations!
"Why do these guys look so much like the 'human pigs' recorded in ancient books? Could it be their arms and legs that are sealed in the trash can? Who did this? What a ruthless person! However, how can arms and legs move on their own without a body?"
Bourne's hair stood on end all of a sudden, and he was about to change direction to avoid these strange guys, but it was too late. The human pigs that were wriggling forward happily suddenly stopped moving as if the pause button was pressed at the same time. They all turned their heads to look at the house where Bourne was hiding, with cruel and excited light in their eyes.
"Oh no, we've been discovered!" Bourne exclaimed inwardly.
The human pigs' expressions became fanatical, and they turned around and crawled towards Bourne desperately, as if they were injected with chicken blood.
"Nima, I didn't make you like this, do you need to be so enthusiastic?"
Bourne complained, but felt relieved when he saw that these human pigs did not take a faster way to move forward - rolling sideways, but continued to use the most stupid method of crawling.
"Fortunately, these guys are just fanatical but brainless. With such a living target, let me try physical exorcism!"
Bourne took out the Smithson & Wesson M57, aimed at the human-pig who was crawling in the front, and "bang", a bullet with a red flame shot into his wide-open mouth.
"boom!"
The fastest crawling human pig closest to Bourne was like a lit oil drum. Fire instantly ignited all over its body from the inside out. The speed of the fire was comparable to that of a gasoline fire. In a few seconds, only ashes were left on the ground.
"? What's going on!? Why does this guy burn so fast?"
Bourne had an ugly expression on his face, because he had just clearly seen that the human pig stopped crawling, stretched out its neck, raised its head, opened its mouth wide and faced Bourne, as if something wanted to burst out of its throat to attack him.
That's why he fired decisively, intending to interrupt the opponent's action, but unexpectedly, the tracer bullet that his father installed in the gun was surprisingly effective against these guys. Could it be that his father had known that he would encounter these monsters?
Bourne was a little confused.
The companion's grayness did not scare the remaining human pigs. They seemed to have received instructions from their superiors at the same time and performed the same actions as the companion of grayness just now:
They raised their heads and opened their mouths wide, and with a "uh uh" sound similar to vomiting, countless hemp ropes as thick as pencils rushed out of their mouths, like chrysanthemums spraying long octopus tentacles into the sky, whipping the air wildly.
This was both disgusting and terrifying, and reminded Bourne of the monsters in a zombie game he played with his nephew in his previous life. It was just that it had been so long that he had forgotten the name of the game and could not remember the plot clearly.
However, the attack range of the hemp ropes spewed out by these human pigs was only about one meter, which posed little threat to Bourne, who was still five or six meters away from them.
"So, the weakness is fire, and the attack radius of its breath is one meter? Although these guys are not that strong, you should still be careful. If you get entangled by those ropes in close proximity, the consequences will probably not be good."
Knowing the weaknesses and attack range of these guys, Bourne was thinking about how to eliminate them when a huge and noisy roar suddenly came from the center of the town in the distance. The sound was filled with pain, anger and madness, which made people feel fear unconsciously in their hearts. Bourne's steps softened and he almost fell to his knees.
"You're so powerful just by your roar? I can't let you go."
Bourne tore a wet towel into small strips and plugged his ear holes. As for the slow-moving guys in front of him, Bourne, who lacked tools for arson, decided to let them go for the time being.
When he arrived at the center of the town, the scene in front of him made Bourne gasp. He saw that the entrance of the exhibition hall in the center of the town, which was the size of a public toilet, was blocked by a dense crowd of people, at least hundreds of people.
Although these people were unarmed, looking at their fanatical expressions and the hemp ropes that kept coming out of their mouths, nostrils, ears, and even eyes, Bourne believed that even if the Terminator came, these guys would rush over and wrestle with it. Because they were no longer human, but hemp rope monsters in human skin!
No wonder this town is called TwineBall, I’m afraid all the original residents of the town are here!
"Dad, I think I know why you are here! How dare you come to a place like this alone? Who gave you the courage, Fish Leong?"
Bourne thought about his father's unusual behavior yesterday and the weirdness of the town, how could he not understand the purpose of his father's coming here?
But my dad has only been to church a few times in his life, so how did he get involved with the Vatican?
On the other side, inside the town's exhibition hall, Father Marcos who was trapped inside was also cursing secretly. As one of the three powerful archbishops of the Texas branch of the Baptist Church, he did not believe it when he first received the news that the seal of this secret realm had been leaked, because according to the records within the church, this secret realm should be at least two years away from erupting.
"Damn it, how did the priests on duty in Austin and San Antonio maintain the seal all these years? Is this the seal that has leaked a little bit? Damn you, your whole family!"
If it weren't for the rigorous character he had developed over many years of professional career, Father Marcos would have entrusted an old friend who was passing by here to bring a beacon into the town to find out what was going on. It would have been unknown how long the seal, which was already leaking everywhere, would have been kept secret.
Unfortunately, his old friend didn't say much in the message. All that could be made out were vague words like "danger, wake up, explosives", etc. Moreover, he hasn't received any news since this message.
Max, who felt that things were not going well, urgently arranged for some manpower and hurriedly entered the secret realm with the beacon. As a result, everything was fine when he came, but he couldn't go back!
"It seems that the answer to the mystery lies in this ball of twine!"
Father Marcos poured the last bottle of holy water on the glass of the exhibition hall, successfully forcing the approaching townspeople back a little. He looked at the huge hemp rope ball with a diameter of two meters in the center of the exhibition hall and clenched the fire axe in his hand.
"Today, I'm going to tear you apart and see what kind of devil you really are!"
