Tea Merchants of the Song Dynasty

Chapter 5 Household Notes

The Jiang Mansion was very large, so large that it occupied half of Wangping Street. But it was also very small, so small that it could not contain Jiang Yin's panic.

Jiang Yin searched the entire Jiang Mansion but couldn't find the Jiang family's household registration card.

She thought about it carefully and realized that she had never seen a household registration card in either her previous life or this life, let alone giving it to other people.

As for Zhang Yuanzhi, she narrowed her eyes slightly and suddenly remembered that when her parents passed away, Zhang Yuanzhi did rummage around the house.

But she vaguely remembered that Zhang Yuanzhi did not find anything, nor did he take anything away.

"My lady." Xiao Luo clenched her fists and said angrily, "Should we go find the Second Master?"

Jiang Yin raised his hand and said, "Don't be in a hurry. Don't alert the enemy yet."

In fact, she felt that it was not necessarily Zhang Yuanzhi who took it. If he had taken it, he would definitely not let it go today.

Not only did she think so, Uncle Wang also had the same idea.

Uncle Wang hesitated for a moment and said, "I don't think it was Second Master who took it. The Madam has always been cautious. Something this important might be hidden in some corner, and Second Master won't find it easily."

"Yes, that's right." Jiang Yin nodded slightly and said, "It's late today, let's continue looking tomorrow. Maybe it's waiting for me to find it in some corner."

She paused and continued, "Let's not tell anyone about this, otherwise someone with ulterior motives might take advantage of it and we don't know what will happen."

If Zhang Yuanzhi and several other families knew that her household sticker was gone, they might cause some trouble.

Besides, the government office also had a backup copy of the household registration card. If it really didn't work, she would go and get a new one.

After a sleepless night, Jiang Yin woke up early the next morning with dark circles under his eyes.

She hurriedly called Uncle Wang and asked him to arrange more people to guard the Yazhou tea mountain, as she was afraid of trouble.

She remembered that in her previous life, after her parents rushed to Yazhou, they did not resolve the issue of the tea mountain.

There is only a little over a month left until the tea picking season at the Spring Equinox. If the problem with the tea mountains is not resolved and the tea cannot be delivered, her Jiang family will be finished.

Although she didn't know what exactly happened in the tea mountain, it would always be a good idea to send someone there first.

After making all the arrangements, she got up and prepared to visit Mrs. Feng's house again.

She will not feel at ease until Mrs. Feng gives in.

"Oh, my lady." Xiao Luo held her body as she tried to get up, and said anxiously, "My lady, if you don't think about yourself, you have to think about the Jiang family. Look at your pale face. You should rest for a few hours first."

She felt sorry for her wife. Ever since her eldest wife and her husband were murdered, her wife had been unable to sleep or eat and had been worried about all kinds of things.

"No problem." Jiang Yin patted Xiao Luo's hand and comforted her softly, "The storm is coming. I have to hurry up and take care of things here so that I can go to Yazhou with peace of mind."

The truth behind the Chashan incident is waiting for her to investigate, and so is the real murderer behind her parents' murder.

From now on, she will no longer be the carefree girl who is protected by her parents. She has to build a world for herself!

"Don't worry, my lady. I will accompany you." Xiao Luo raised her hand and wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes. "I will go and bring breakfast to you."

Jiang Yin smiled as she watched Xiao Luo run away. In this life, she would definitely protect herself and Xiao Luo.

After breakfast, she brought Xiao Luo to the gate of Feng Mansion again.

Just like yesterday, Jiang Yin first raised her hand to knock on the door, then opened her mouth and called out to Aunt Feng, but there was still no sound from inside.

At this moment, every household had just gotten up to eat breakfast. The enthusiastic aunt next door couldn't help but stick her head out and said, "Why is Miss Jiang here again? Miss Feng is not at home. She went out early in the morning."

"Out of the house?" Jiang Yin stepped forward and asked, "Aunt, do you know where my aunt went?"

"I'm afraid she went shopping. Miss Jiang, why don't you go out and take a look?" After saying this, the aunt retracted her head and went back to the house to continue her work.

It was a chaos in the morning and I had to take care of everything.

Hearing the aunt's scolding and the children's giggling voices coming from the yard, Jiang Yin smiled knowingly.

She looked up at the wintersweets blooming from the corner of Feng's mansion and was unconsciously lost in thought.

I don’t know whether Aunt Feng is really not at home or she is at home but doesn’t want to see her.

After a long while, Xiao Luo tugged at her sleeve and whispered, "Madam?"

"The wax plum blossoms are dyed yellow before spring, and a foreign land is considered my hometown." Jiang Yin curled his lips slightly, shook his head and chuckled, "Let's go and walk around the street."

Not to mention shopping, she almost forgot that her family had both a tea plantation and a tea shop in the capital city.

In her previous life, Zhang Yuanzhi took care of all these things, and she didn't pay attention to the follow-up of the tea shop. This time, she took this opportunity to take a look.

If we want to save Jiang’s family and Jiang’s tea plantation, this tea shop is also a key.

Jiang Yin walked towards the tea shop according to his memory. When he was almost there, he found that the entrance was surrounded by young men with flowers in their hair.

They held folding fans in their hands, occasionally chanted a few lines of poetry, made a few couplets, and nodded and praised something from time to time.

Jiang Yin walked quickly forward and moved closer to the store, wanting to see what was going on inside.

Unfortunately, she was petite and not tall enough to see it.

She bowed to the scholar with a hairpin beside her and said, "Sir, may I ask what is going on in there?"

The scholar tilted his head and saw that it was a young lady. He immediately said with red ears, "Young lady, you don't know, today Madam Feng came to the teahouse to perform tea opera, and we scholars and literati came here to join in the fun."

"Is Aunt Feng in there?" Jiang Yin's eyes lit up, and he quickly bowed and thanked her, and was about to squeeze in.

The scholar hurriedly said, "Don't worry, young lady, there will be more later."

However, Jiang Yin ignored what he said and simply pushed aside the people blocking the way in front of him and squeezed in.

Madam Feng's tea-making and tea-brewing skills are first-rate and well-known throughout Chengdu Prefecture. Therefore, Jiang Yin understands that so many scholars came to join in the fun today.

There were just too many people and it was difficult for her to squeeze in.

"Make way, please make way, gentlemen." Xiao Luo protected Jiang Yin and squeezed him in, whispering as she squeezed, fearing that the noise would be too loud and alarm Madam Feng who was performing inside.

However, Mrs. Feng had already noticed the movement here.

Facing Mrs. Feng's gaze, Jiang Yin showed a flattering smile on his face, but was met with an indifferent look from Mrs. Feng, and then he turned a blind eye to her.

Jiang Yin was not discouraged. If she were in his place, she would be as angry as Mrs. Feng.

Upon closer inspection, Mrs. Feng today was as calm and capable as usual.

She was dressed in tea-green clothes, with her hair tied up with only a wooden hairpin, and continued to perform the tea opera in an orderly manner.

Tea art, also known as soup art or tea division, is a very popular tea ceremony.

The process is complicated and numerous. Starting from a piece of tea cake, it has to go through more than a dozen steps including roasting tea, crushing tea, grinding tea, sieving tea, waiting for tea soup, scalding tea cups, taking tea powder, pouring tea soup, adjusting tea paste, pouring tea soup again, beating tea, and dividing tea, before the whole tea performance can be completed.
