I didn't bring a basin of water today, so the fish died shortly after I caught it. It's better to wait until I come back to catch it.

Hearing Su He's words, Su Chi had no objection. He immediately patted his rolled-up trouser legs, smiled at Su He, and walked towards the foot of the mountain where Su He pointed.

It's normal for my sister to come out so she wants to stroll around the area. It's still early anyway so she can catch some fish when she comes back.

As Su He walked, he kept an eye out for anything edible around him. The Su family was very poor, and now they could pick anything edible and take it back.

The two walked further and further, and soon passed through the forest that Su Chi mentioned. They could suddenly feel that the road was getting smaller and smaller, and the weeds on the side were becoming denser and denser.

You can tell at a glance that not many people come here on weekdays, as the weeds are almost higher than the knees.

Su He walked under the tree, looked around, picked up a branch stick that was three fingers thick, folded it into a length of about one meter, held it in his hand, and slapped the weeds in front of him.

Su Chi was small, but when he saw Su He's appearance, he followed her example, picked up a stick, and jogged to catch up with the person in front.

After a while, the two of them stood at the foot of the mountain, one in front of the other. Their ears suddenly became much quieter. Apart from the rustling sound of the wind and the occasional bird calls from afar, there was no other sound.

"Sister, if we go any further we'll enter the mountains. Let's go back."

Su Chi thought Su He was just curious, so he followed Su He all the way here.

Grandpa here said that he couldn't walk around randomly. If he encountered a monster, he wouldn't be able to run away with his weak arms and legs.

"Let's take a look around here. Listen, there are a lot of birds singing. Maybe there are pheasants here."

Su He knew that there were many wild animals in the mountains, and he didn't know if there were any hunters in Yunli Village. If he could catch any prey, he could sell it in town for silver.

"But........"

Su Chi remembered his grandfather's words and was still a little hesitant. But when he heard Su He say that there might be pheasants in there, he became excited again.

"Okay, let's just take a look around here. We won't get into the mountains. Nothing will happen."

After Su He finished speaking, he walked inside. Seeing this, Su Chi had no choice but to follow her.

Su He was slapping the weeds in front of him and pulling the leaves under the tree with a stick.

This is the outskirts of the mountains. The trees are not very tall. The sunlight shines through the gaps between the branches and sprinkles on the ground in star-like spots.

When he was a child, Su He often went into the mountains with his grandfather to look for mountain products. Logically, mushrooms should be growing in this season.

Su He’s purpose today was actually to see if there were any edible mushrooms in the mountains.

Mushrooms are the most delicious in spring. Not only do they taste good, they are still fresh even without meat. If you can’t finish them, you can make mushroom sauce or dry them and eat them in the winter.

Su He was lost in thought when he saw a red object exposed from under the dead leaves he had just pulled aside. Could it be?

Su He was delighted and immediately squatted down and pushed away the dead leaves in front of him, revealing a red mushroom.

Oh my God, this is a red onion. Red onions are not cheap nowadays. I didn’t expect that the first mushroom I encountered today would be this.

Su He reached out and picked it up and put it into the backpack.

Once you discover mushrooms, you know there must be more nearby.

Su He looked around, turning over the dead leaves with the stick in his hand.

"Sister, why are you picking this? You can't eat this."

Su Chi quickly shook his head at Su He with a serious look on his face.

When Su Chi was young, he saw something similar to this in the wild when he was playing with the children in the village. When he picked it and brought it back, he was scolded by the adults, who said that this thing was poisonous and should not be picked randomly.

Although there is not much food in this village, Su Chi still knows something about what can be eaten and what cannot be eaten, especially the things that the adults have told him about.

After listening to his younger brother's words, Su He smiled and explained to him:

"I recognize this one, it's called red onion, it's not poisonous anymore and it tastes really good."

Su He knew that there were many varieties of mushrooms in the wild, many of which were poisonous and inedible. She didn't dare to pick them randomly and only picked the varieties she knew.

After hearing Su He's well-reasoned words, Su Chi didn't know what to say. He just thought that when he returned later, grandpa and the others would surely be home as well. Wouldn't it be nice to let grandpa and father take a look then?

Seeing that Su He was so interested, I just let her go.

Seeing that Su Chi stopped talking, Su He began to look for mushrooms with great interest.

Sure enough, after walking a few steps forward, I saw another yellow lily under a small sapling. It was very fat and strong. I guess there were few people living here.

And according to Su Chi, very few people in the village come here, so the animals are extremely plump.

Su He looked to the side, pulled aside the leaves, and found two more mushrooms.

Su He grinned with joy and carefully took it off and put it into the backpack.

"Sister, here, here it is."

Su Chi's voice came from not far away. Su He walked towards Su Chi while looking underground.

Su Chi saw Su He approaching him, and quickly pointed to a mushroom in front of him that was different in color from the one he had just seen, and asked:

"This is different from what we had just now. Can I eat this?"

Because of the different colors, Su Chi couldn't tell them apart, so he asked Su He.

Su He looked in the direction he pointed, and saw a pile of torn leaves lying aside. A mushroom was exposed, and it turned out to be Bacillus subtilis. It was growing too well.

Su He picked it up lovingly and explained to Su Chi, "This is called black boletus, and it's edible."

After that, he told Su Chi:

"Achi, some of these mushrooms are edible, and some are poisonous. The ones I just picked are edible. You can pick them if you see them. If you don't recognize any, call me over to see if they are edible. Got it?"

There are many varieties of mushrooms in the mountains. It would be no joke if you picked a poisonous one. Su He put down his backpack and let Su Chi take a closer look.

Su Chi also knew that he couldn't be careless with this thing, so he carefully identified it and nodded continuously.

After giving the instructions, the two of them continued to search forward. These mushrooms are good stuff, and they want as many as they can.

However, the mushrooms had just grown out not long this season, and the two of them searched for almost an hour and only picked up a basket, but Su He was already very satisfied.

As long as there are mushrooms on this mountain, there is no need to worry about having nothing to eat.

They only searched a little bit of the mountain today, as there are still many places they haven't visited. Besides, after the rainy season is over, the mushrooms in the mountains will be in their real season.

"Okay, that's all we'll pick up today. It's getting late, let's eat something first and then go back."

This basket can last for several meals. I came out today just to explore the route. It won’t be too late to come back when I have time.
