Shi Yu's initial idea was to focus on infrastructure development and story exploration, and to bring in some NPCs to create simple storylines and quests.

Establishing respawn points is a relatively novel gameplay element. Allowing players to create their own initial village helps increase player immersion and also increases player engagement.
