Maybe I shouldn't die.

Chapter 5 Zhucheng

At dusk, the official road is coated with a layer of warm color.

There stands a weathered teahouse by the side of the road. The mottled words on the shabby sign are hardly recognizable, and a few equally shabby tables and chairs are scattered along the roadside.

The sound of horse hooves and wheels rolling could be heard faintly in the distance, and in the afterglow of the setting sun, a team of horse-drawn carriages slowly approached.

The people in the car were Fang Yue and his group.

The convoy slowly drove to a teahouse and stopped. It had been two days since they left the last town. Two days of continuous bumps made Fang Yue's hands and feet weak, and she was carried down from the car by her nanny.

The owners of the teahouse were a middle-aged couple. When they saw Fang Yue and his group get off the car, the man immediately came up to greet them warmly.

"Sir, what kind of tea or snacks would you like?"

"Pick up some better tea and some snacks."

Mr. Fang spoke up and looked at the guards and escorts around him, motioning for everyone to sit down, rest for a while and eat something.

The recent weather has been unusually hot, a stark contrast to the cooler seasons of previous years.

The escort leader and the teahouse owner walked into the shed together to buy some tea as they were running out of water.

Fang Yue and her family found a table and sat down. After a while, the proprietress brought up a pot of tea and a few plates of snacks.

Fang Yue was enjoying this rare moment of peace and quiet when suddenly a carriage rushed past, raising a large cloud of dust.

"Pah, you ate a mouthful of dirt from me"

A handsome young man waved his sleeves

The little boy next to him also learned to say: "Puh, Puh"

"What are you talking about? I blocked all the dust." The boy tapped the boy's head gently and said in reproach.

"Brother, have some water." The boy handed over the kettle in a flattering manner.

The boy just took the kettle and took a sip.

The boy suddenly shouted

"drive"

The boy immediately spurted out a mouthful of water.

"You..." The young man was angry and threatened

"If you continue like this, I won't buy you any candied haws."

When the boy heard about the candied haws, his eyes lit up and he immediately hugged the boy's legs and said

"Brother, I was wrong."

The middle-aged man next to him laughed, picked up the boy, touched his head, and said:

"Naughty"

Suddenly, he said "Huh" and looked forward.

There were a dozen burly men holding weapons, walking towards the teahouse aggressively.

The leading man walked to the front of the teahouse, looked around, and found no other place, so he walked straight to a scholar and said in a bad tone:

"I want this position, please change to another one"

The scholar's face turned pale instantly. He looked at the young man who was tied up beside the big man, and was terrified. He quickly pulled the old servant away without any hesitation.

The leading man sat down with great force, and one of his men picked up the young man and threw him at his feet.

Another big man beside him asked:

"Brother, what should we do with this pretty boy?"

The big man hesitated for a moment, feeling a little conflicted. They were originally walking along the road peacefully, but the young man's carriage passed by, causing them to swallow a mouthful of dust, looking very embarrassed. Of course, they had to give him a lesson.

But looking at the master and servant with bruised faces and noses, he hesitated about how to deal with them.

Seeing the big man hesitate, the young man quickly said:

"My dear, we are the ones who have offended you because we didn't recognize the real man. We are in a hurry to go to Zhucheng. Look, I still have two thousand taels of silver notes on me. I will give them all to you. Please spare us, okay?"

After hearing this, the big man became even more hesitant. He had already been taught a lesson, and it seemed that it would not be a loss if he could receive another two thousand taels of silver.

When the men nearby heard the amount of the banknotes, their eyes lit up. They thought that the eldest brother was not the kind of person who would eat alone, and that they, the brothers, would at least get a few dozen taels, so they advised:

"Brother, if they really have something urgent to do and are in a hurry to get on the road, then it can be considered excusable. Besides, the city is under strict control now, and we can't do something like killing people."

The big man thought about the recent situation in Zhucheng, gritted his teeth, waved his hand and said:

"Release"

The men quickly untied the man. The young man was also tactful and hurriedly took out the silver bill and handed it to the big man. Then he and the servant supported each other and staggered away.

The boy at the side looked at the master and servant for a long time, and suddenly shouted:

"Brother, look at this boy. Is he the one who drove the car and made you look so pale just now?"

When the young man heard this, he turned around to look at the master and servant. Although they were now bruised and swollen, he could still vaguely recognize their original appearance. He was immediately amused and said with a smile:

"Hahaha, retribution!"

Seeing this, the middle-aged man on the side didn't say much. He called the owner of the teahouse to settle the bill and left.

After watching a wonderful drama for free, Fang Yue was very satisfied and her mood improved. She deeply realized that one must not be arrogant, as retribution often follows.

Isn't this an example of retribution in this life?

After resting for a while, the convoy set out again and headed towards Zhucheng. Not long after leaving the teahouse, Fang Yue saw the master and servant with bruised faces and noses, both of whom looked quite miserable.

Fang Yue couldn't help but feel sympathetic. Thinking about what the two had gone through, she became more determined to be humble.

The carriage went farther and farther away, and the master and servant soon disappeared from sight.

After another hour of traveling, the convoy finally arrived at the city gate before it became completely dark.

After entering the city, all the lights were on and the carriage took a long time to find the inn.

The waiter of the inn was dozing off leaning against the counter. At this time, all the guests had gone upstairs to rest.

"bang bang"

The waiter was awakened, rubbed his eyes, and ran to open the door.

"Dear guests, please come in."

Outside were Fang Yue and her group.

"Go and put the carriage away first, and remember to feed the horses with grass."

Mr. Fang gave the order.

The waiter said "OK" and stretched his neck and shouted:

"Shopkeeper, a guest has arrived"

Then he said to the other party:

"The shopkeeper will be here soon. I will go and arrange a carriage for you first."

After saying that, he led the carriage to the backyard.

The shopkeeper came out and asked with a smile on his face.

"Dear guests, would you like to stay overnight or have a meal?"

"Is there any vacant room?" asked Mr. Fang.

"Yes, yes, how many rooms do you want?" the shopkeeper replied hurriedly.

"Three upper rooms and five lower rooms."

"Do you need hot water for your meal?" the shopkeeper asked again.

"Prepare the food and bring hot water to the room.

"Okay, here are the keys. I'll take you upstairs first."

The Fang family members followed the shopkeeper upstairs.

"bang bang"

There was another knock on the door.

The shopkeeper heard the noise, called the waiter over, gave him a few words, and asked him to take the Fang family upstairs.

So he hurried to open the door.

"Dear guests, please come in."

After opening the door, a group of three people walked in from outside. They were a middle-aged man with a teenager and a boy.

The Fang family members couldn't help but shrink their pupils when they saw them. Aren't these the same people they met in the teahouse?

The shopkeeper led the middle-aged man and his party into the inn and asked:

"Would you like to stay overnight or for a night?"

"Are there any rooms available?"

"Yes, yes, how many do you want?"

"One Room"

On her way up the stairs, Fang Yue couldn't help but look back at them. The boy was also heading in this direction, and when he saw her looking at him, he grinned at her.
