Good luck every time

Chapter 11 Li Ruyi's Sophistication

On the dirt road leading to the county town, a pair of figures were heading towards the county town.

The summer breeze blows through the wheat fields, rolling the green wheat waves.

The early morning sun rises from the east, slowly climbs up, and then slides to the west.

When they were halfway down, the two figures that had left in the morning slowly came back.

Li Ruyi held the freshly-issued household registration in his pocket.

After half a day of torture, the village head felt that he had learned something, but also that he had learned nothing.

In the past, it was most difficult for him to help people close their accounts, and he had to bow and nod even after repeated requests.

But today he saw something completely different.

Li Ruyi asked him along the way how many procedures were required to cancel his household registration and register, who were the persons in charge of those procedures, what was his daily work scope, and also asked about his appearance and temperament.

Li Ruyi's questions were very clear, and Li Zheng had no answer to many of them. The two of them had to guess and it was not until they arrived at the county that they had a general understanding.

However, after arriving in the county town, Li Ruyi did not go to the county government office early in the morning to wait like the village head did as usual, but went to the money house first.

The girl exchanged the one or two taels of silver she had on her for more than 1,700 coins.

She put the money into a big bag, and then went to the grocery store to spend a dozen copper coins to buy some red paper. She borrowed a pair of scissors from someone and cut the paper into pieces, which she then folded into solid red envelopes.

The red envelope is not big, but the capacity is good.

She put a different number of copper coins in each red envelope, some more, some less, and arranged them neatly into the bag she was carrying.

After finishing their work, the two went to the county government office.

After explaining the purpose of the visit clearly, the village head initially walked in front to help Li Ruyi make the introduction, but soon the person introducing him turned out to be an official from the county government.

Li Ruyi also transformed himself into a poor relative of an official living in Sanjia Village.

The cousin that Li Ruyi had just adopted led them along the way without any obstacles.

The village head could only follow behind the two of them and watch as the originally tedious process was quickly simplified and completed before noon!

Coming out of the county government office, he looked at the empty bag Li Ruyi was carrying and asked her with a heavy face.

"Where are your red envelopes?"

Li Ruyi stared at him with wide eyes.

“They’ve all been sent out!”

The head of the village was very upset. It was more than one tael of silver! More than 1,700 coins!

It was enough for the four siblings to spend lavishly until the end of the year, and yet they just spent it like that!

And he didn't even see how it spread out!

Until this moment, the village head returned to the village in a daze.

The familiar place gave him a lot of sense of security, and he finally felt a sense of stability returning to reality.

What was said in the morning was still fresh in my ears, but before the evening, I received a slap in the face.

Li Ruzhi had already reached the village entrance, and he took out the last red envelope from his pocket.

"Uncle, thank you for following me for the whole day..."

The head of the village looked at the red envelope, and his weather-beaten face suddenly darkened.

"What are you doing? Take it back now!"

He shook his hand to refuse, but Li Ruyi grabbed his sleeve.

Li Ruyi stuffed the red envelope into the village head's hand.

"Uncle, a little thought is something that everyone else has, so of course our family should have some too!"

She spoke very quickly and her movements were very forceful.

"Besides, we sisters are alone and weak, and we still have to rely on you a lot."

The head of the village quickly pushed it back, and then tried hard to pull his hand back, while refusing with righteous words.

"This is what I deserve, how can I take it back..."

Li Ruyi's face also turned serious, and she spoke quickly in a low voice.

"This place is not far from the village entrance. If we refuse to come here and people see us, it will not sound good. Please accept it quickly."

The head of the village wanted to refuse again, but he saw the lazy man who had just left the village to weed was wandering towards him not far away.

He was startled, his already sunburned face turned even redder, and sweat dripped down his forehead.

Most of his life's guilt was probably caused by this.

He pulled back the hand and the red envelope, put them into his sleeve, and put them behind his back.

Li Ruyi then wiped the sweat off his face with a smile.

People leaving the village were a little surprised to see them.

"Uncle Lizheng, why are you wearing so many clothes?"

The people in the village were not wealthy, and every household did not have much spare clothes. When summer came, the most common sight in the village was women wearing tattered short-sleeved shirts and men going shirtless.

Those with high status in Sanjia Village are all clan leaders and elders. The head of the village is actually not much better than ordinary people. It is rare to see him dressed so formally today.

The head of the village had not yet recovered from the shock of receiving the gift, and he felt too guilty when he heard someone talking to him. He didn't know how to respond, so he could only frown and put on a serious look.

"Li Sun, who lived at the end of the village, is gone. I took her daughter to the county to cancel her household registration!"

Li Ruyi's acting skills are much better than his. In an instant, she revealed complex expressions such as loss, panic, sadness, and determination, which immediately made people understand her current situation.

Although the person asking the question was a fool, he knew that it would be bad to keep asking questions since the woman's mother had died, so he just laughed it off and ran away with his neck shrunk.

As soon as the village head and others left, he quickly pulled his hands and the red envelope out of his sleeves, and wanted to return them to Li Ruyi awkwardly.

But Li Ruyi would never give him this opportunity and ran away.

"Uncle, I have something else to do at home, so I'll leave first."

The village head was startled and chased after her to call her.

"Hey! Hey! Come back!"

Li Ruyi would not go back. Not only did he not go back, he also made a face at the head of the village.

The village head watched the people running away and sighed helplessly.

"You kid!"

Of course it's okay for a child to run like this, but an adult like him still has to maintain his dignity, so how can he chase after him!

Li Ruyi had also anticipated this situation, and ran a few more steps before turning back, making a trumpet-like shape with his hand, and shouted goodbye to him.

"Uncle, I'm going to go back first! When I'm done with these things, I will definitely come to thank you."

After saying that, she tightly grasped the household registration document in her pocket and rushed into the village without looking back.

This was the happiest day of her two lives.

A corner of the mountain that was pressing on her collapsed, and she finally had a little right to live for herself.

She ran very, very fast.

Although there was still sadness on her face due to Sun's death, Ke Xin seemed to be blown up to the sky by the wind caused by her running.

The villagers who were walking slowly out of the village were stunned when they saw her.

People who are on good terms with her will call her.

"Pan'er, where have you been?"

Li Ruyi would slowly stop and answer people with a confused look on his face.

"I went to cancel my mother's account."

Everyone looked at her thin figure standing there, lonely and desolate. No one dared to say anything and felt a little sympathy and pity for the siblings.

But only she herself knew that she couldn't say a word more now.

One more word and she might betray her own gaiety.

Li Ruyi ran back home in one breath, and only when she saw the shabby wooden door right in front of her did she show a hint of joy.

She thought to herself that her eldest sister might not understand her, but the third sister would definitely understand.

However, just as she reached the door, she saw a young man in a dark blue coarse cloth gown walking out of the open door.

The smile on Li Ruyi's face disappeared in an instant.
