Chapter 189: Three Questions from the Buddha
"So, what do those lights represent?"
Gu Shijiu asked slowly.
He had roughly understood the details of other aspects, but he was still confused and puzzled about the mysterious lights that appeared at the end.
Luo Yong smiled slightly, and then replied: "Those last rays of light are actually merits."
"At that moment, the merits I had accumulated were presented to me in a concrete form. At the same time, a clear understanding arose in my heart. According to calculations, my personal killing karma was as high as more than three million, and the bad karma brought by Buddha Feather was exactly one million. Before that, the number of good karmas I had was about four million, but the merits I actually possessed reached an astonishing 130 million. You know, merits themselves are also a manifestation of good karma. It is for this reason that the man in black robes chose to retreat."
After Luo Yong finished his detailed explanation, the people around him couldn't help but exclaim in amazement.
Luo Yong paused for a moment, then continued:
"Then, I stepped into a magnificent hall. Above the hall were engraved four majestic characters, 'Daxiong Hall'. The entire hall was decorated with golden splendor and was magnificent. The seats around were filled with arhats with different expressions, and on the main seat in the center sat a solemn and majestic Buddha. The entire hall was filled with a strong Buddha's light, which looked sacred and solemn, and was truly extraordinary.
I took a few steps forward, and the Buddha on the first seat opened his eyes and looked at me quietly, and I also looked at him quietly.
After a long time, he said: Luo Yong from Bodhi Temple, an eighth-level saint, eats three Bodhi Buddha seeds, is that right?
I replied: That’s right.
The Buddha smiled and said softly: Then you need to answer three questions for me. If I approve all of them, you can be resurrected. If I disapprove of even one of your answers, you will achieve the status of Arhat and follow us to the Western Paradise forever.
I replied: Yes. "
When he got to this point, Luo Yong glanced at everyone, rested for a moment, and continued:
"The Buddha nodded slightly, his appearance was dignified, and he spoke like a lotus: The first question is, do you repent for the sin of killing that you have committed?
I looked at the Buddha expressionlessly and responded softly: Of course I have no regrets. I have never committed the sin of killing, so why should I repent?
The Buddha waved his sleeves lightly and gently placed my robes, sword, Zen stick and other items aside. Then he continued to ask: Isn’t this the sin of killing?
I answered without hesitation: Killing is to protect life, and killing karma is not killing people. What is stained on me is karma, not blood. Arhats can also have the appearance of angry Vajra, and Buddha can also kill people with glaring eyes. What I kill is all karma, not blood. Therefore, I have not committed any sin of killing. What I do is just to save the world.
When the Buddha heard this, the corners of his mouth slightly raised, revealing a faint smile, as if to express his approval of what I said, and he nodded his head slightly to show his agreement.
Gu Shijiu was listening at the side and couldn't help but be dumbfounded. These people were simply so good at speaking. Ordinary debaters were no match for them in speaking. They were simply invincible.
Luo Yong ignored the surprised crowd and continued:
"The Buddha then spoke: The second question is, when the battle flag flutters, is it the wind or the flag that is moving?
I frowned slightly and fell into deep thought. After a moment, I answered softly: It's my heartbeat.
There was a gleam in the Buddha's eyes, and he seemed quite interested in my answer. He asked: Why?
I took a deep breath and said slowly: The war flag flutters, not because of the wind, nor because of the flag, but because of the human heart. Where the heart goes, everything moves with the heart, acts at will, and obtains free cause and effect according to the divine thought. The war flag flutters, all because of the heart. The wind is just an external inducement, and what really drives the war flag to flutter is the human heart, everything contained in the human heart.
However, the Buddha seemed not to hear what I said and continued to ask: Why is the war flag moving?
My heart tightened, and I couldn't help but hesitate. But I still plucked up my courage and continued: Moved by the desire to kill. The battle flag was originally a killing weapon, symbolizing war and killing. The desire to kill can be like a gust of wind, inspiring people's fighting spirit and courage. With the heart as the wind, the battle flag can be moved.
The Buddha shook his head slightly and asked calmly: After all, it was the wind that moved the flag, not the heart.
I calmed down and answered firmly: The heart is the wind, and the wind stops when the heart stops. Although the wind can blow the battle flag, its source is still the movement of the heart. After all, it is the heart, not the wind, that gives the battle flag life and power. After all, the battle flag is raised by the heart, not by the wind. The wind is only an external appearance, and the heart is the internal driving force.
The Buddha was silent for a moment, thinking. Finally, he whispered: "Good."
At this point, Luo Yong let out a long breath, and a trace of cold sweat appeared on his forehead. Obviously, the question just now was not so easy, and it made the master nervous.
Zhao Hongling listened intently, and when she saw Luo Yong stopped, she asked softly:
"and then?"
Luo Yong looked at Zhao Hongling lovingly and continued to speak softly:
"Then the Buddha continued: Third question, since you say that the mind has power, where does your power come from? Is it your mind or the Buddha you practice?
When I heard this question, I was stunned. Yes, since I have power in my heart and I recognize this power, where does my power come from? Does it come from my heart? No, it is clearly obtained by my hard work in practicing the Buddhist secrets! But if I say this, wouldn’t the inner power I recognized before be a joke?
At that time, I was a spirit and could not break out in cold sweats. Otherwise, I would definitely break out in more cold sweats than I do now."
Luo Yong said teasingly with a smile.
"Where does strength come from? From within or from practice? From within to cultivate the outside, from the mind to control strength?"
Gu Nineteen muttered to himself.
Luo Yong's eyes lit up when he heard this, and he couldn't help but exclaimed:
"Donor Gu is indeed very wise. He can actually think of this. It is really extraordinary."
Gu Nineteen shook his head and said:
"This is not right. If I answer the Buddha like this, I guess Master Luo will not be able to come back."
Luo Yong smiled and nodded:
"This question itself is a trap. There is no right way, only wrong ways and the wrong way to the end."
Luo Yong cleared his throat and said:
“At that time, I realized that this trap was helpless, but after thinking about it, I still said softly: The mind is stronger than everything, and naturally it is stronger than external forces. After all, Buddha’s power is an external force, so it must be controlled by the mind.
The Buddha was a little annoyed, and said: This is heresy. Since you are a Buddhist, if you don't put the Buddha's power first and cultivate your mind power first, how can your mind power defeat the Buddha's?
I continued helplessly: The mind is the root, and the power of Buddha is ultimately a means.
The Buddha became furious and said: Then I will let you lose your Buddha power and see if your mental power can enable you to save all the people in the world.
Then the Buddha struck my soul back with a palm. At the end, I said to the Buddha: Do not violate the precept of anger..."
Everyone looked at Luo Yong with a serious face and burst into laughter.
