Zongman, Rebirth of the Heaven-Defying Kirito
Chapter 433 Dinner for Three
As the sun set, Kirito, Yui, and the girl were already seated at the dining table.
Kirito's eyes kept glancing towards the kitchen, a hopeful smile playing on his lips.
Yui swung her little legs and nodded her head, clearly eager to taste Asuna's cooking.
In contrast, the girl appeared unusually reserved, with her hands on her knees and sitting upright like a little princess receiving etiquette training.
This wasn't intentional; it was more like a natural bodily reaction. Even when faced with an upcoming feast, there was no sign of relaxation.
Yui exclaimed excitedly, "I wonder what kind of dish Mama will make! I can't wait!"
Kirito nodded in agreement, his eyes gleaming with anticipation: "Me too, Asuna's cooking always brings surprises."
Just as the two were filled with anticipation, Asuna brought out the dishes one after another.
The first dish was grilled fish skewers. The golden fish meat glistened with oil, and with the addition of special spices, the rich aroma filled the air as soon as it was placed on the table.
Next up were roasted mushrooms, which she and Kirito had specially picked in the forest a couple of days ago. She hadn't expected them to come in handy so soon.
Finally, Asuna served everyone a bowl of vegetable soup, which looked refreshing and nutritious.
Kirito's eyes lit up: "It's grilled fish!"
Yui also raised her little hand and excitedly echoed, "Grilled fish! Grilled fish!"
Asuna smiled helplessly, then said in a deliberately serious tone, "You two, it's just a meal, there's no need to be so excited, is there? Look at her, even if there's the most delicious food in front of her, her demeanor doesn't change at all."
As she spoke, she pointed to the well-mannered girl beside her, her eyes conveying a sense of 'you should learn from her.'
Kirito scratched his head a little embarrassedly: "It's so hard to resist the food Asuna made, with it right in front of me."
Yui nodded quickly, "That's right! Mama's cooking smells so good, I can't wait!"
"I really can't do anything with you guys." Asuna said this, but the smile on her lips didn't disappear at all.
After all the food was laid out neatly, Asuna sat down next to the girl.
The seating arrangement at the dining table was such that adults sat facing each other in pairs, and children sat facing each other in pairs.
Asuna picked up the most evenly grilled fish skewer, placed it on the plate in front of the girl, and said gently, "You can start eating now, don't be shy."
"Okay, sorry to keep you waiting!" Kirito couldn't wait any longer, immediately picked up a skewer of grilled fish, and took a big bite.
The fish was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, so delicious that he couldn't help but squint his eyes.
Yui followed Kirito's example and reached out to take a skewer of golden grilled fish.
She held the bamboo skewer in her small hand, and as soon as she brought it to her nose, she was drawn in by the rich aroma and took a sniff.
The spices and the natural umami flavor of the fish intertwine and fill the nostrils all at once—how can anyone resist that?
Yui took a big bite, her small mouth instantly filled with fish.
She chewed vigorously, mumbling indistinctly, "Delicious! So delicious!"
As she spoke, she eagerly took a second and a third bite, her little face full of satisfaction.
Kirito watched Yui wolf down her food and couldn't help but laugh, "See, I told you so, didn't I? Asuna's cooking is simply irresistible."
Yui nodded repeatedly, her mouth filled with fish, unable to speak any more.
Asuna looked at the 'father and daughter' with a speechless expression: "You two, you should also pay attention to your image when you eat. Don't eat too fast, or you'll choke."
"Okay, okay~" Kirito replied verbally, but his hands didn't slow down at all.
Holding a grilled fish in one hand and a grilled mushroom in the other, he ate with great relish, seemingly not taking what was said earlier to heart at all.
Asuna rubbed her forehead and sighed helplessly, "Really."
Normally, she might not be so harsh on Kirito, but now that they have two children, she hoped that Kirito could set a good example.
But now it seems she was too hasty.
When faced with delicious food, Kirito's self-control is practically zero.
The girl sitting next to Asuna tilted her head, looking at the two people across from her, one big and one small, eating heartily without any regard for their image, with a hint of confusion in her eyes.
Is it really that delicious?
She looked down at the grilled fish on her plate, reached out her little hand, picked up a bamboo skewer, and carefully took a small bite.
The freshness of the fish instantly spreads in your mouth. The crispy outer skin and the tender inside create a wonderful texture. The flavor of the special spices does not mask the natural freshness of the fish, but rather makes the flavor even richer.
The girl's eyes widened slightly, and she whispered in admiration, "Delicious!"
Hearing her words, Asuna smiled with relief: "It's great that it suits your taste. There's plenty more if you want."
The girl nodded and continued to eat the grilled fish in small bites.
Although she was only eight or nine years old, her movements were still dignified and elegant. She ate slowly with each bite and tried not to make any noise while chewing, just like a little lady who had received strict etiquette education since childhood.
This formed a stark contrast to the father and daughter opposite them, who were "letting loose"...
Once the food on the table was completely devoured, Kirito leaned back in his chair with a satisfied sigh, "I'm full~ totally full~"
Yui followed suit, but she was too short to lean back in the chair like Kirito.
So she could only lean forward on the dining table, tilting her little head, and say in a soft voice, "Yui is full too~ Her tummy is all round!"
As she spoke, she reached out her little hand and gently patted her belly, looking incredibly cute.
Only the young girl maintained her dignified demeanor after finishing her meal.
She bowed slightly to Kirito and Asuna, her voice soft yet clear: "I'm full, thank you for the meal."
Seeing her being so polite, Kirito couldn't help but remind her, "Just like at home, you don't need to be so formal."
But before he could finish speaking, Asuna interjected, "You can't expect everyone to be like you, completely lacking in manners while eating, can you?"
Kirito just smiled.
Asuna had no choice but to give up. Sure enough, her previous reminders were all unnecessary, because the other party had no intention of changing at all.
After dinner, the four of them cleared the table together and then sat around the sofa in the living room.
The sun had long since set outside the window, and the forest was shrouded in the darkness of night. Occasionally, a few fireflies could be seen flying by, trailing their faint light.
Inside, the fireplace still burned brightly, and candles were lit on the candlesticks around the room, maintaining a bright and warm atmosphere in the living room.
Whether there is light or not is one thing, but the passage of time in reality is another.
Now we have to address a thorny issue – it's time for Kirito and Asuna to be taken offline.
