Devil's Army

Chapter 913 Recovering Fengnan County and Luan County

The commander of the First Regiment failed to completely wipe out the Japanese Kunizaki Detachment and reported to the commander of the Sixth Brigade in a dejected manner.

The Sixth Brigade Commander did not blame him, but just sighed and said:

“Maybe he wasn’t meant to die.”

The attack on Fengnan County, south of Xiaoguanzhuang Airport, was also relatively smooth.

The commander of the Second Regiment of the Sixth Brigade took advantage of the time when the Japanese bombers flew away and used two 150mm howitzers to fiercely bombard the south gate wall of Fengnan County.

The Japanese 41st Regiment was unable to organize effective resistance under the bombardment of the First Army's large-caliber artillery.

After the First Army's 150mm howitzers stopped bombing, two Type tanks and four Type medium tanks of the First Army cooperated with each other and led the soldiers into the city through the collapsed city wall of Fengnan County.

The Japanese troops in the city, lacking anti-tank weapons, held out for less than half an hour under the leadership of the captain of the 41nd Battalion of the st Regiment. Finally, they were unable to withstand the fierce attack of the st Army's tanks and withdrew from Fengnan County.

The Second Regiment of the Sixth Brigade successfully recaptured Fengnan County.

After the Second Regiment Commander recaptured Fengnan County, he did not continue to pursue the fleeing Japanese 41st Regiment, but instead repaired and reinforced the fortifications to prevent a Japanese counterattack.

The attack by the Third Regiment to the east of Xiaoguanzhuang Airport was not so smooth.

The commander of the Third Regiment arranged for his soldiers to launch a surprise attack on Dongbaliqiao Village in the early morning, but failed. During the day, he launched a full-scale attack on Luan County, hoping to recapture Luan County before the First and Second Regiments.

Luan County was the base for the encirclement and suppression of the Tangshan base, and the headquarters was located near Luan County. Luan County also stockpiled a lot of strategic materials and soldiers. When the battle started, it provided support to the Japanese troops in various directions of Xiaoguanzhuang Airport from time to time.

At the beginning of the battle, the commander of the Third Regiment deployed two 150mm howitzers and tank troops.

However, the Japanese defenders in Luan County withstood the attack of the Third Regiment.

Later, Japanese bombers came to reinforce, and the two 150mm howitzers of the Third Regiment were hidden in time to avoid being bombed by Japanese bombers. However, the two Type tanks and four Type medium tanks that were attacking Luan County were not so lucky.

When they were bombing the Japanese troops on the wall of Luan County, they were subjected to intensive bombing by Japanese bombers and had nowhere to hide.

After the Japanese bombers flew away, one Type 89 tank and three Type medium tanks were destroyed in the First Army's tanks. All the drivers and crew members of the four tanks were killed.

The third regiment commander was heartbroken that his tank was destroyed by a Japanese bomber.

As soon as the Japanese planes flew away, he immediately ordered the two well-preserved 150mm howitzers to bombard the Japanese Luanxian city wall. Under the cover of the howitzers, the infantry tried to get as close to Luanxian as possible.

As soon as the First Army's 150mm howitzers stopped bombing, the soldiers of the Second Company of the First Battalion of the Third Regiment immediately launched a charge towards the collapsed area in Luan County.

Although the Japanese defenders in Luan County fought desperately, the soldiers of the Second Company continued to charge towards the gap fearlessly.

The three regiments' mortar shells continued to bombard the Japanese firepower points on the Luanxian city wall.

The soldiers of the Second Company of the First Battalion finally rushed up the collapsed Luan County city wall and engaged in hand-to-hand combat with the Japanese army.

Upon seeing this, the Third Regiment Commander immediately ordered the Third Company and the Second Battalion of the First Battalion to quickly reinforce and expand the results of the battle.

Under the leadership of the commander of the regiment, the 41st Regiment of the Japanese Army in Luan County stubbornly blocked the attack of the rd Regiment while evacuating the supplies in Luan County from the north gate of Luan County.

The Type 89 tank and a Type medium tank that survived the Japanese bomber attack served as the vanguard of this counterattack.

The tank's artillery continued to bombard the Japanese machine gun fire points, and the tank's machine guns continued to fire at the Japanese soldiers.

Finally, the tanks of the Third Regiment, in cooperation with the infantry, cleared out the Japanese squadron that was blocking the enemy. But when they arrived at the Japanese military camp, the commander of the 41st Regiment of the Japanese Army had already retreated from the north gate of Luan County with supplies.

After a bloody battle by the soldiers of the Third Regiment, Luan County was finally successfully recaptured by the Third Regiment in the evening.

The remnants of the Japanese 11th Regiment, a small part of the Kunizaki Detachment, and the remnants of the Japanese 41st Regiment to the north, south, and east of Xiaoguanzhuang Airport retreated to Pinggu County and joined Commander Itakane of the Japanese th Division.

Japanese Army Commander Itagaki looked at the Fifth Division of less than 10,000 men and sighed heavily.

He had been holding on, hoping to wait for the arrival of the Japanese 6th Division so that they could launch a large-scale attack on Xiaoguanzhuang Airport together.

After occupying Xiaoguanzhuang Airport, they launched an attack on the bases of other devil troops in Jixian and Tangshan, and completely eliminated the devil troops in the North China battlefield.

Now the Japanese Sixth Division is still being held up by the Eighth Route Army in southern Shanxi, and is advancing slowly. It is unknown how long it will take to meet up with his Fifth Division.

His Fifth Division no longer has the ability to encircle and suppress the devil's troops.

Soon after the Japanese Fifth Division retreated, the Japanese 09th Mixed Brigade also retreated to Beijing and Tianjin, and the Japanese th Division also retreated to Baodi County.

This long-planned battle, whose main purpose was to occupy Xiaoguanzhuang Airport and annihilate the devilish troops in the Tangshan base, finally ended with the defeat of the Japanese army.

The recovery of Fengnan County, Luan County and Zunhua County also extended the strategic depth of Xiaoguanzhuang Airport by 50 to 200 miles.
