Devil's Army

Chapter 868: The Guerrilla Corps Arrives in Ji County

Battalion Commander Hu ended the battle and asked the signalman to notify the reinforcements from Sanhe County to retreat.

The Japanese reinforcements in Pinggu County were struggling to break through the Devil's troops' blockade and were then subjected to intensive mortar bombardment.

When they recovered, they found that the devil troops on the opposite side had retreated, so they hurried to catch up with their transport team.

When the Japanese reinforcements from Baodi arrived at the hillside, the gunfire had already stopped. The bodies of fallen imperial warriors, stripped to a loincloth, lay everywhere on and below the hillside.

Captain Hu's Five-County Anti-Japanese Joint Guerrilla Corps was not far from Jixian County, but in order to avoid misunderstanding, it never reached Jixian County.

This time when they arrived in Ji County, they found that although the war was shrouding Ji County, the lives of the people here did not seem to be affected much. They were already accustomed to living under the protection of the army.

Captain Chen led Captain Hu to the gate of Ji County, told the sentry to take Captain Hu to the reception room, and informed Commander-in-Chief He. They were going back to Sanhe County, where Miao Nana's anti-Japanese drama troupe was still.

The sentry took Captain Hu to the reception room. Wu Lang and Hui Lang had not returned from Xiaoguanzhuang Airport. Deputy Brigade Commander Dai went to the reception room to meet Captain Hu.

As soon as Captain Hu heard the sentry's introduction, he saluted Deputy Brigade Commander Dai and said:

"Hello, Deputy Brigade Commander Dai!"

"Hello, you guys are great. You captured so much food from the devils in one go."

"We are so ashamed. We were just waving flags and cheering behind you. The main credit goes to your First Anti-Japanese Army," Captain Hu said modestly.

"Hahaha, are you planning to put all this grain in Ji County?"

"Captain Chen of the Second Squadron asked us to put them in Jixian County and come and get them when we need them."

"We are all Chinese soldiers fighting against the Japanese. Even if you have not seized the food from the devils, you can come here if you need it. We will still provide you with food and ammunition."

“Thank you, Deputy Brigade Commander Dai.”

"How many days do you plan to stay in Ji County?"

"Our leader said that your First Anti-Japanese Army is very good at training soldiers. If possible, I would like to lead the troops to train with you for a period of time."

"That's no problem. You can train for as long as you want. Xiao Zhang, you will be responsible for arranging food and lodging for Captain Hu and the others, and then take them to the training base and ask the instructor to make arrangements."

"Yes."

In the afternoon, Captain Chen brought 42 new recruits recruited by Miao Nana to the training base for training, and happened to meet Captain Hu and his guerrilla corps in training.

Captain Chen and Captain Hu were also comrades who had fought together, so they stepped forward and greeted them:

"Captain Hu, I had an urgent matter this morning and was unable to accompany you. Please forgive me."

"What do you mean by forgiveness or not? Today we all depend on you. If you hadn't called for reinforcements, we might not have been able to escape unscathed. Shall we have dinner together tonight?"

"Okay, I'll take these new recruits to report to the instructors first."

Before Captain Chen and Captain Hu had time to eat, the guard came over to report: Commander-in-Chief He and Deputy Commander Tan have returned, and asked Captain Hu to go to the reception room.

When Captain Hu arrived at the reception room, Wu Lang immediately asked directly:

"Today, we intercepted the Japanese military supplies from Beiping to Baodi County. I heard that it was the information you provided?"

"Yes, Commander He."

"You have intelligence stations in Peking and Tianjin?"

Captain Hu looked at Wu Lang in confusion and said nothing.

"Don't get me wrong, I don't want to know the specific situation of your intelligence station, I just want to ask you for a favor."

"We have received orders from headquarters to do our utmost to assist your First Anti-Japanese Army. Please let me know if the commander-in-chief has any orders."

"Part of the 11th Mixed Brigade of the Japanese Army stationed in Baodi, Tianjin has been eyeing our Jixian County. The Japanese North China Front Army in Peking and Tianjin has been continuously replenishing their strategic materials. I want to cut off their transportation line."

"Commander-in-Chief He wants our intelligence personnel to notify you when they find the Japanese transport team transporting supplies to Baodi?"

"Yes, your means of transmitting intelligence are relatively slow at present. I plan to arrange intelligence personnel in Tianjin or Beijing, carrying radios and hiding there. If you have intelligence, inform them immediately, and we can ambush the Japanese transport team immediately."

"That's no problem. We have our own intelligence stations in Peking and Tianjin."

"Okay, you and Captain Chen of the Second Squadron of the Special Operations Team have fought side by side before. This time I will ask Captain Chen to arrange for his team members to set up their own secret intelligence stations in Peking and Tianjin. As soon as the transport teams from Peking and Tianjin leave the city, they will be intercepted immediately, leaving the Japanese troops in Baodi short of food and ammunition."

"Okay, Commander-in-Chief He, the intelligence officers in Peking and Tianjin have a single line of contact with me. I will go over and introduce Captain Chen to them so that they can start their work."

"Okay, let's do it tomorrow. There's no rush. The Japanese transport team has just been destroyed, so it's impossible for them to take action again immediately. I'll ask Captain Chen to come here for dinner, and you two can work out a feasible plan."

After a while, the guards called Captain Chen to the reception room. During dinner, Captain Hu suggested that their people were more familiar with the local situation and asked them to be responsible for finding a place for Captain Chen and his men to stay.

Captain Chen transported weapons and ammunition into the city via golden eagles and was responsible for patrolling the security of intelligence points.
