Devil's Army

The battle first broke out at the South Gate. The soldiers of the 691st Regiment blocked a round of Japanese invaders like walking a dog and then retreated.

The Japanese squad leader stopped chasing after 500 to 600 meters outside the city gate because he saw a lot of grass and trees ahead and was afraid of an ambush.

A platoon leader from the 691st Regiment saw that the fish was about to escape the hook, so he threw a grenade at them and chased after them to shoot at the small group of Japanese soldiers.

Several retreating devils fell to the ground one after another. The Japanese squad leader ordered the soldiers to stop retreating and lie down to block the soldiers of the 691st Regiment.

The squadron leader immediately asked for help from the Japanese troops in Gao County. But to his disappointment, the Japanese troops in Gao County only left one squadron to garrison! The main force had already set out to Xinkou.

There were two snipers among the soldiers of the Second Regiment outside the East Gate, who shot the Japanese soldiers on the city wall in the heads one by one.

The mortars of the Second Regiment also discovered the enemy's machine gun fire point and blasted it away with two consecutive shots. However, the two soldiers near the city wall were shot and fell down.

The soldier behind him rushed forward, took his explosive pack, and rolled towards the city wall gate.

The soldier rolled to the gate of Meihua Town, placed the explosive pack on the left side of the gate, lit the fuse, then pulled the fuse of the three grenades on the right side of the gate, and quickly ran out of the city.

Soon, a series of explosions were heard, and the east gate of Meihua Town was blown open.

The machine guns of the Second Regiment continued to suppress the Japanese troops on the city wall, while other soldiers rushed into the east gate of Meihua Town like a tide.

Seeing that the situation was hopeless, the remaining twenty or so Japanese soldiers in the city hurriedly retreated into the town.

The soldiers from the 691st and nd Regiments that rushed into the city pursued them relentlessly until the twenty or so Japanese soldiers were turned into more than twenty corpses.

The Chinese soldiers who rushed into Meihua Town were divided into three groups and attacked the south gate, west gate and north gate of Meihua Town respectively.

The four gates of Meihua Town were surrounded by Chinese defenders. The Japanese troops in the city had no way to escape and could only fight stubbornly.

As Captain Lu broke through the south gate of Meihua Town, the other two city gates of the Japanese army were also broken one after another.

Less than 100 Japanese devils in Meihua Town were all wiped out by Chinese soldiers while they were fleeing and hiding.

More than a week after the fall of Meihua Town, it returned to the hands of the Chinese defenders. However, Meihua Town had been destroyed beyond recognition by the Japanese invaders.

Many of the doors of the shops on the street were kicked open by the Japanese, and many of the goods inside were swept away by the Japanese. Many buildings collapsed into a pile of broken bricks and tiles in the heavy artillery bombardment when the Japanese entered the town.

After the soldiers from the 691st Regiment and the nd Regiment entered Meihua Town, they began to clean up the mess, clear the garbage, and repair the damaged doors and windows.

The residents of Meihua Town who received the news returned to their homes one after another. When they saw the scene before them, they began to curse the Japanese while cleaning up their homes together.

The second regiment commander arranged two platoons of soldiers to patrol the area around Meihua Town with the Golden Eagle No. 2 to prevent the Japanese large force from raiding Meihua Town.

After the Second Regiment Commander recaptured Meihua Town, he suggested to Regiment Commander Lu that they should recapture Gao County in one fell swoop. However, Regiment Commander Lu disagreed. He elaborated on his views from several aspects.

1. Although the main force of the Japanese Fifth Division rushed to Xinkou, the area around Meihua Town was completely occupied by the Japanese army. If they made too big a move, it would easily attract the attention of the devils, who would mobilize a large force to attack.

2. Gao County has an important strategic location, being located at the intersection of Pinghan Railway and other transportation lines.

3. The terrain around Gao County is flat, easy to attack but difficult to defend. The Japanese army occupied Gao County and used it as a base to sweep around.

4. Gao County is also an important grain producing area.

The Japanese are currently in full swing and will never give up Gao County easily. Seizing Gao County will drag Meihua Town into the flames of war again.
