Devil's Army

Chapter 736: Tangxia Village in Danger

After the second team leader and his team had been defending the path leading to Tangxia Village for two days, a reinforced squad of Japanese invaders came over.

The second team leader stopped them and said in fluent Japanese:

"I'm sorry, you can't go in."

"We come here often. I was here last month too. Why can't we go in now?" the second lieutenant asked the second team leader puzzledly.

"Last month was last month. Now we have requisitioned this place as a secret research base. No outsiders or other troops are allowed to enter."

"Hey, what kind of research base is it that even our garrison has no right to enter?" The second lieutenant was dissatisfied with the arrogance of the second squad leader and tried to force his way in with his soldiers.

The second team leader waved his hand and thirty special forces blocked their way.

Just as the lieutenant was about to lose his temper, three staff members in chemical protective suits walked past them at the right moment, holding glass test bottles in their hands.

When the second lieutenant saw it, he immediately realized what kind of research base this was. He immediately apologized to the second team leader and left with the soldiers.

A team member looked at the second lieutenant and his men as they left and asked the second team leader:

"Captain, are those suits more useful than our guns?"

The second team leader had never participated in a battle with biological and chemical weapons, and did not know that it was a chemical protection suit. He could only say in a smart way:

"Those are the clothes worn by the senior Japanese commanders. A mere second lieutenant like him would definitely not dare to offend them."

The team member nodded thoughtfully.

The lieutenant went back and reported to his commander that a new bacteriological weapons research base of their empire had been built in Tangxia Village. His commander was also confused. He had not received any notification from his superiors about this matter. However, the bacteriological weapons research unit was a top-secret unit, and it was a different branch of the unit from theirs. It was reasonable to hand over the security to other units. Besides, they had just arrived, and many things were not yet perfect.

While Wulang was still preparing for battle, an accident occurred in the first company of the 11th Brigade's Special Forces Battalion.

That evening, when they were returning from a reconnaissance mission six or seven kilometers from the intersection of Tangxia Village, they happened to meet the Japanese reinforcement team that came that day at a corner of the road. The two sides immediately engaged in a battle.

The company commander fired at the Japanese while reporting the situation on the scene to Wu Lang.

Wu Lang thought for a moment and ordered:

"We will wipe out this small group of Japanese soldiers, collect all the shell casings at the scene, and scatter them about 200 meters in front of Tangxia Village. We will fake the scene of a fierce battle.

The company commander received Wu Lang's order and immediately redeployed his troops: he arranged for the first row to hold back the Japanese from the front, and the second and third rows to move from the left sides to the sides and back of the Japanese, trying to surround and annihilate them.

The second lieutenant saw through the intention of the first company commander and ordered his soldiers to block the first company soldiers on both wings. However, the attack of the first platoon was very fierce, and the captain failed to block it by dividing his troops.

The captain ordered the soldiers to retreat, but unfortunately, how could a man outrun a bullet?

The second and third platoons of the first company quickly caught up, shooting as they went. This small group of devils was finally wiped out on their way of retreat.

A company commander ordered the soldiers to clean up the battlefield quickly, and added an order that puzzled the soldiers: pick up all the bullet casings.

This was the first time the 11th Brigade had fought a fierce battle with the devils since its formation. Some soldiers laughed and said:

"Our company commander is afraid of poverty."

In Tangxia Village, Wu Lang ordered a regiment commander to arrange a company to fire at the roads on both sides of the intersection to fake a fierce battle scene of the size of a squad.

When the company returned to the intersection of Tangxia Village, they ordered the soldiers to scatter bullet casings around the intersection to create a fake battle scene.

A Japanese reinforcement squad did not return all night, which naturally attracted the attention of his superiors. He immediately reported to Commander Kiyoshi Kozuki.

Commander Kiyoshi Kozuki immediately arranged for a patrol squadron from outside Tianjin to check the situation.

The next morning, the Japanese captain led the squadron of Japanese soldiers to search all the way, causing chaos everywhere.

They soon found the bodies of the reinforced squad of Japanese soldiers, who had been stripped to their loincloths, six or seven kilometers before the intersection of Tangxia Village.

The captain led the Japanese to search along the way and soon arrived at the intersection of Tangxia Village.

The second squad leader stopped this squadron of Japanese soldiers and refused to allow them to enter the village to search.

"Do you know who shot and killed a squad of our Imperial Japanese Army?" asked the captain.

"I don't know who shot and killed your squad of Imperial Army soldiers, but we have fought against Chinese companies. You can see traces of fighting ahead. They retreated in that direction after we repelled them."

The captain walked towards the direction pointed by the second squad leader, and saw bullet shells scattered all over the ground. There were also traces of bullets hitting the trees and leaves on both sides of the woods.

The direction the second team leader pointed to was the direction of the Chinese garrison in Tangshan City.

Commander Kiyoshi Kozuki received the captain's report, and he didn't know whether the Japanese water supply unit had set up an experimental base in Tangxia Village. But he was now fully preparing for the Nankou Campaign, so he didn't pay any attention to the Chinese defenders in Tangshan.

The matter came to nothing, and the danger to Tangxia Village was eliminated.
