Devil's Army

Chapter 661: Transforming the Japanese Pilot

Although the Northeast Anti-Japanese First Army now has an air force, it is only an air force in name only. The only aircraft it has are drones, not even a single fighter or bomber.

After Professor Qian left, Professor Xu and Professor Hong took their students to develop the First Anti-Japanese Army's own aircraft based on the ideas proposed by Professor Qian when he left and the current basis for manufacturing drones.

Jackal also went to Fengtian to find technical personnel with Leng Feng's trust.

Leng Feng also began to reform the minds of the Japanese pilots.

He transferred two Japanese anti-war activists who surrendered during the battle to exchange ideas with the pilots, attempting to transform the pilots' stubborn reactionary ideas.

However, this Japanese pilot had a strong sense of superiority and always thought he was superior to the army. He sneered at the two anti-war activists in the army and was unwilling to talk to them.

Leng Feng decided to give him a visual shock.

He asked the soldiers to take the Japanese pilots to Tiaobinshan Coal Mine to see the lives of the Japanese miners.

When the Tiaobinshan Coal Mine was closing, he was really shocked when he saw Japanese prisoners of war, who were dark-skinned, had dull eyes and torn uniforms, crawling out of the coal mine.

The pilots looked at these warriors of the Imperial Japanese Army, who were now following the orders of the Anti-Japanese First Army soldiers like zombies: eating, working in the mines, digging coal, and sleeping. They hardly spoke a word the whole day, not to mention their ambition to build the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere.

The battalion commander in charge of guarding the Tiaobingshan Coal Mine pointed to the five pillars in the open space and said to the pilot:

"When you come to me, I don't care whether you are in the air force or the army, a soldier or a major general, you must go to the coal mine to dig coal. If you resist, I will not kill you, but I will tie you to this pillar and cut a few pieces of meat to feed the wolves every day. After the meat is cut, don't even think that your soul can return to the Yasukuni Shrine. We will chop off your head and throw it to the wolves to eat."

The pilot felt cold sweat on the back of his head. He could not imagine that the rumored devil army was really more terrifying than the devil.

The pilot stayed in the coal mine in Tiaobinshan County for a week and was then taken back to the Oroqen tribe by soldiers.

"What? Do you want to go dig coal or be an air force instructor in our tribe?" Leng Feng asked the Japanese pilot.

The Japanese pilot did not respond, his pride did not allow him to give in immediately. But he did not resist as violently as before.

"Do you still think that you came to China to help us build a Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere where technology is advanced and people live happily?"

"Isn't it? Your technology is at least thirty to fifty years behind ours. We are here to help you."

"May I ask if your family is a prominent family or an ordinary family in Japan?"

"An ordinary family." The Japanese pilot lowered his proud head.

"So do you think that developing society and making everyone live well means that only a small number of people like the emperor can live well, or that most families like yours can live well?"

"Of course, it's only good when most families like mine are living well."

"Okay, you can walk around the tribe for the next three days and feel whether the people here live better or the people under your Japanese rule live better."

In the next few days, the Japanese pilots took a casual stroll in the Oroqen tribe accompanied by two special forces members who knew Japanese.

He saw that the happiness index of the people in the tribe was much higher than that of the people in the war zone.

People walked leisurely in the tribe. After work, they gathered together to chat, sing, do handicrafts... and greeted soldiers with a smile.

In the Japanese-occupied areas, people always walked around with a nervous look on their faces. After work, they would go into their houses and close the doors all day long. When they saw the soldiers, they would stay away from them, fearing that they would suddenly get into trouble.

He began to doubt whether the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere their superiors had mentioned was as hypocritical as Commander Leng said.

On the third day, Leng Feng specially asked the special forces team to take the pilots to Tieling County to experience the living conditions of the county residents.

This trip to Tieling County brought a great psychological shock to the pilots.

On the fourth day, Leng Feng came over and asked the pilot:

"Do you still believe in what your superiors said about the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere?"

The pilot said nothing, but he didn't insist.

"I welcome you to come to the school as a flight instructor, but if you insist on going to dig coal, I can only agree."

The pilot shuddered all over when he thought of the Japanese soldiers at Tiaobinshan Coal Mine.

He lowered his head involuntarily and whispered: "I agree to be a flight instructor. But my ability is limited, I can only do my best."

"Okay, just try your best to teach our students what you know, and we will have instructors coming over from other places."

The pilot breathed a sigh of relief, he finally made a difficult decision. He didn't know how people back home would see him.

Leng Feng began to recruit educated students from the entire army to become pilots. He also sent people to expand the school appropriately and prepare to open a pilot school next to the artillery school.
