Devil's Army

Chapter 263 Searching for Japanese Water Supply Branch Organizations

Regarding the Japanese water supply unit mentioned by Leng Feng and Huilang, the Second Regiment Commander Sun and Captain Wang both said they had never heard of it. Commander Sun even thought it was a logistics unit of the Japanese army.

Then Leng Feng introduced the notorious Japanese water supply unit to them in detail: the Japanese water supply unit was also known as the Japanese 731 Unit. On the surface, it was a unit that conducted experiments on disease prevention and drinking water purification. In fact, it mainly used Chinese, Korean, and Allied prisoners of war to conduct biological and chemical weapons experiments.

The troops called the captured people Maluda, and used them for various inhumane experiments such as live dissection, high temperature tests, low temperature tests, and gas toxicity tests...

The second regiment commander's face turned red when he heard this, and he cursed: "Can these devils still be called human beings?"

Commander Sun and Captain Wang felt a chill down their spines when they heard this.

"But as far as I know, their headquarters is in Harbin. Why would they come here to arrest people?" Gray Wolf asked puzzledly.

"I guess it's one of his branches." Leng Feng said after thinking for a while.

"Grey Wolf, immediately organize a reconnaissance team to go to Qingyuan Manchu Autonomous County and Fushun to see if there are any clues. This matter is highly confidential and is only known to a few of us. It cannot be spread outside."

"Yes," everyone nodded in response.

Gray Wolf was about to arrange for scouts to go to Qingyuan Manchu Autonomous County for reconnaissance. Commander Sun stopped him:

"Deputy Commander, our people are familiar with the Qingyuan and Fushun areas. Shall I arrange for a few guides to go out with you for reconnaissance?"

"Okay, arrange five guides, and don't tell them what mission they are going to perform."

"Yes." Commander Sun and Gray Wolf left the operations room together.

Gray Wolf selected a total of 55 special forces members, including him, from the special forces team. Together with the five guides sent by Commander Sun, there were 60 people in total. They stocked up on food and left the tribe by truck. They arrived at the Second Regiment Defense Zone at the border of Tieling County and Qingyuan Manchu Autonomous County.

Gray Wolf divided the team into five teams of ten people each, each led by a team leader. One team went to the border between Fushun and Qingyuan Manchu Autonomous County for reconnaissance. The other four teams reconnaissance in four directions of Qingyuan Manchu Autonomous County. They agreed to gather at the current place three days later regardless of whether they had any results.

After the arrangements were made, the team members went their separate ways. Gray Wolf personally led a team to conduct reconnaissance in Fushun and Qingyuan Manchu Autonomous County.

The guide led the wolf to investigate wherever there were villages. However, none of the villages reported any missing persons. The investigation had not made any progress.

Finally, Gray Wolf and his team got some new news from a village in a small valley. The village chief reported that a number of young and middle-aged villagers had been missing during this period.

Gray Wolf ordered a search within a radius of five kilometers around the village, starting from the village.

While searching for a road connecting Qingyuan Manchu Autonomous County and Fushun, a bird in the woods ahead inexplicably flew up.

"There are people here, everyone disperse." Gray Wolf ordered.

The special forces members quickly hid in the woods on both sides.

After a while, a team of twenty or thirty people came from the woods in front.

"It's Commander Liu's team." The guide who came with them said to Gray Wolf.

Gray Wolf stopped the guide from greeting the team on the other side. They were on a mission, and Gray Wolf didn't want to get involved with them, whether they were friends or enemies.

After this team left, Gray Wolf led his team members to continue moving forward.

Finally, a group of Japanese soldiers and laborers were found about two kilometers away from the village.

After careful observation, Gray Wolf denied that this was the station of the Japanese water supply unit branch because the devils only built two bunkers and a fortification here.

It turned out that Commander Liu's troops often attacked the imperial army in Fushun from this road. The imperial army in Fushun therefore set up a checkpoint and a bunker at this intersection to block Commander Liu's troops from attacking them.

The small force just now was the reconnaissance team sent by Commander Liu to investigate the situation.

The clue was broken and everything started from scratch again.

Three days later, the three teams returned to their starting point and reunited.

Gray Wolf listened to the investigation reports of each squad leader at the Second Regiment Headquarters. There were two squads that had people missing in the villages they were searching, but there were no suspicious buildings of the Japanese army nearby.

Gray Wolf asked the five team leaders to continue the discussion to see if there was anything they had overlooked. He walked out of the regiment headquarters alone, thinking: What went wrong? Was our reconnaissance direction wrong? Perhaps there was no branch of the Japanese water supply unit nearby. Where did those missing civilians go?

Seeing Gray Wolf pacing back and forth with a sad face, the Second Regiment Commander went up to him and asked, "Deputy Commander, is there anything we can help you with?"

"No," said the gray wolf, shaking his hand.

The second captain knew that the matter must be confidential, so he stopped asking.

Gray Wolf returned to the regiment headquarters, and the five captains had not yet come to a conclusion. Gray Wolf had no choice but to lead 60 members to retreat to the Oroqen tribe.

When Gray Wolf returned to the tribe, Leng Feng asked him if he had any clues. Gray Wolf shook his head, and then reported their investigation direction and process to Leng Feng one by one.

"Could it be that rabbits don't eat grass near their burrows?" Leng Feng's words awakened the dreamer.

"It's entirely possible!" Gray Wolf slapped his thigh and was about to lead the special forces to continue investigating based on this new idea.

Leng Feng stopped him and said, "You just came back, take a few days off. Now a strange thing has happened in Tieling County, so you should send a few capable people to keep an eye on it."

After saying that, Leng Feng told Gray Wolf about his suspicions about this strange incident, and Gray Wolf also felt that it was indeed a bit odd.

So Gray Wolf took six special forces members to Tieling County.
