Devil's Army

Chapter 2112 The Battle of Dapanling (Part 2)

When the rocket troops of the First Battalion saw Japanese soldiers being taken down by machine gunners, they immediately crouched down and opened fire on the Japanese tanks.

"Boom..." Two explosions rang out, and two Japanese tanks were destroyed in front of the Dapanling position.

Upon seeing this, the soldiers of the First Battalion and the newly formed First Battalion fiercely threw grenades at the chaotic Japanese troops.

On this day, the first wave of Japanese attacks was repelled. However, the Japanese, still determined to defeat their enemy, did not go far. Instead, they continued to launch an attack on the Dapanling position under the cover of tank wreckage.

After a full day of intense blocking battle, the First Battalion had very little ammunition left.

The battalion commander ordered the third regimental commander to expedite the transport of ammunition and supplies, while also instructing his soldiers to let the Japanese get closer before engaging them.

As dusk fell, the Japanese army saw that the firepower of the "Devil's Unit" had weakened, so they intensified their attack.

The battalion commander immediately dispatched the newly formed 3rd Company of the 1st Battalion to provide reinforcements.

The newly formed 3rd Company of the 1st Battalion was going to the battlefield to kill the Japanese for the first time. Like newborn calves unafraid of tigers, they shouted and fired fiercely at the Japanese and threw grenades.

Upon seeing this, the battalion commander ordered a counter-offensive, which repelled the Japanese attack.

At night, the Dapanling position was still firmly in the hands of the First Battalion.

Concerned about the safety of Dapanling, the commander of the Third Regiment called to inquire about the battle situation.

The battalion commander tilted his head back and answered loudly:

"Reporting to the regimental commander, the First Battalion has fulfilled its mission and successfully withstood two days of Japanese attacks."

"Is this thanks to your battalion?"

"No, it's all thanks to you, Commander."

"If I hadn't sent the newly formed First Battalion, you would have lost the position long ago."

Around 8 p.m., the guerrillas arrived at Dapanling with ammunition.

After unloading the ammunition, Captain Wu of the guerrilla team did not rush to leave, but instead asked to join forces to block the Japanese.

The battalion commander didn't mince words and immediately agreed, as manpower was exactly what he needed most right now.

Around 10 p.m., to the battalion commander's surprise, the Japanese army launched a night attack on them.

The battalion commander immediately ordered the newly formed 4th Company of the 1st Battalion, which had not yet participated in the battle, to go forward and encircle and suppress the guerrillas. He also reissued weapons to the guerrillas so that they could also join in the encirclement and suppression and practice their skills.

The Japanese army's daytime offensive was thwarted, so they attempted a night raid on the 1st Battalion's command post. However, the vigilant soldiers of the 1st Battalion discovered their plan, leaving behind more than twenty corpses, and hastily retreated.

The following day, the Japanese army launched a continuous attack on the Dapanling position.

The battalion commander also transferred the newly formed 4th Company of the 1st Battalion, which was originally prepared, to participate in the battle.

The battalion commander held off the Japanese advance for another two days. Under the relentless Japanese attacks, the soldiers suffered heavy casualties. Unable to sustain the losses, the battalion commander was forced to retreat.

The battalion commander led his soldiers to retreat to Huanggou Ridge, where they joined forces with the second battalion stationed there to resist the Japanese army.

Before retreating, the battalion commander blew up the hillside.

The landslide blocked the path, halting the Japanese advance.

It took the Japanese army a tremendous amount of effort to clear the blocked path and continue their advance.

On their way to Huangou Ridge, the Japanese troops encountered fierce resistance from the 1st Company of the 2nd Battalion of the 1st Regiment.

The second battalion commander ordered the first company to set up the first line of defense at Dahuangou Toudaoling. However, the Japanese army broke through the line in less than a day. The Japanese army quickly reached Huangouling.

Located at the border of Wangqing County and Hunchun County, Huangguling Pass is a crucial choke point on the route from Dapanling to Hunchun. It marks the boundary between Wangqing and Hunchun counties and is the only passage along the Muchang Line; beyond this point lies the Hunchun Plain, and it was the last mountain pass for the Japanese army's advance.

The 1st Company of the 2nd Battalion, which had retreated, joined the main force here to stubbornly resist the advance of the Japanese army.
