As the battle to encircle the Japanese reinforcements in Jiujiang County began, the final battle to annihilate the multiple Japanese reinforcements also commenced.

With the complete annihilation of the Japanese reinforcements in Jiujiang County and several other Japanese reinforcements in towns and counties outside Jiujiang County, the 68th Division suffered more than a third of its troops as casualties, severely weakening its forces.

Taking advantage of the fact that the Japanese troops in Jiujiang County no longer dared to leave the city to reinforce, the brigade commander concentrated his forces and recaptured the remaining towns and counties on the outskirts of Jiujiang County.

At this point, apart from being able to coordinate with Nanchang from afar, Jiujiang County had no other troops available to provide support.

Meanwhile, the 2nd Brigade of the Southern Independent Division concentrated its forces and successively recovered the counties and towns surrounding Nanchang, lured and annihilated many Japanese and puppet troops in Nanchang, and then surrounded Nanchang.

The Southern Independent Division suffered significant losses of supplies during the battle to recapture Jiujiang County and surrounding towns and counties of Nanchang City.

Instead of launching further campaigns to recapture Jiujiang County and Nanchang City, Commander Zhang mobilized strategic materials from Guangzhou, Guangdong, and other places.

However, the First Air Force, which had already gained air superiority, did not stop and continued to bomb Jiujiang County and Nanchang City.

Each time an air raid occurred, the Japanese army assumed that the "devil troops" were about to attack the city and urgently dispatched troops to reinforce the city gate defenders.

But after the air raids, everything returned to calm. This greatly disturbed the Japanese army.

On this day, a mixed air force unit launched another bombing and strafing attack on Jiujiang County.

After the bombardment, the artillery of the 1st Brigade launched another shelling attack on the Japanese fortifications on the city wall.

This was the first time that artillery and air force had bombed their city wall fortifications, and the Japanese division commander immediately dispatched troops to provide support.

The Japanese and puppet troops that came to reinforce the area were also bombed and strafed by the devilish air force in the open field.

After suffering considerable losses, the hastily arriving Japanese and puppet troops finally reached the city wall to reinforce the city, but everything had already returned to normal.

At this time, supplies stationed in Guangzhou and other places by the army were transported to Nanxiong Airport by air force.

Then they rented trucks from the Guangdong Army and continuously transported supplies to the Independent Division of the First Army on the outskirts of Nanchang City and Jiujiang County.

One morning more than a week later, the Nanxiong Air Force of the First Army launched a fierce bombing and strafing attack on Jiujiang County and Nanchang City.

To avoid being attacked by the devilish air force during their journey, the commanders of the 68th Division in Jiujiang County and the 34th Division in Nanchang City did not send reinforcements.

After the air raid, before the artillery could even fire, the infantry launched a fierce attack on Jiujiang County and Nanchang City from three directions.

Later, the commanders of the 68th and 34th Divisions urgently dispatched Japanese and puppet troops to reinforce the city gate.

The First Army Air Force, patrolling the skies, continuously scanned and bombed the reinforcing Japanese troops.

The Japanese division commander once thought that the devilish troops were once again besieging the point and ambushing reinforcements.

However, the devil troops' offensive on the city walls was fierce, and the Japanese division commander had no choice but to risk being attacked by reinforcements and continue to send troops to reinforce the city.

Because there were still many Japanese and puppet troops stationed in Jiujiang County and Nanchang City, the attacks by the First and Second Brigades of the Southern Independent Division were met with fierce resistance from the Japanese and puppet troops.

The battle continued until evening, but the Japanese and puppet troops failed to break through the defense lines of Jiujiang County and Nanchang City.

At this point, there were no more reinforcements available to be sent to Jiujiang County and the outskirts of Nanchang City. In order to hold these two important strongholds in Jiangxi that controlled the Yangtze River crossings, Commander Hata Shunroku sent troops from Hubei, Anhui, Zhejiang and other places to reinforce them.

New Fourth Army units in various locations were ordered to harass and obstruct Japanese troops in Hubei, Anhui, Zhejiang, and other areas, effectively slowing down the advance of Japanese reinforcements.
