After the main force of the 15th Brigade broke through the Japanese army's defense line in the Tuchengzi area, it continued to advance behind Nanguanling.

The soldiers of the 15th Brigade quickly built a defense line to prevent the Japanese army from opening up the two passages leading to Nanguanling.

At this time, part of the 18th Brigade and part of the 3rd Brigade on the front of Nanguanling stopped the attack. Their goal had changed from occupying Nanguanling to blocking the escape of the Japanese troops in Nanguanling.

The Japanese commanders were worried that the devilish troops in front of the Nanguanling position and the position north of Nanguanling would break through their defense line and attack the city of Lushun, so they immediately sent reinforcements to open up these two routes.
