When the troops arrived at Fuzhou City (now Fuzhou Town, Wafangdian City), they were stopped.

Fuzhou City is located on the land transportation line from Anshan to Dalian and is an important urban node in the north leading to Dalian city.

Historically, Fuzhou City has built defensive facilities such as city walls and moats, and the surrounding terrain can be relied upon. As a regional defense stronghold, it can effectively block offensive forces from the north and is an important part of Dalian's northern defense system.

The 3rd and 4th Regiments broke through the outer positions of Fuzhou City, but were blocked by the city walls and moat.

At this time, the First Army's air force was dispatched to bomb Japanese warships.

In order to reduce casualties, a brigade commander ordered a temporary halt to the attack on Fuzhou City.

The first brigade attacked Dalian from the direction of Yingkou, and the troops quickly reached the coastal area from Fuzhou Bay to Yongning Town.

The area's coastal mudflats intersect with low hills and mountains, and the coastline is winding and rocky. The Japanese army set up defensive positions on Camel Mountain, a coastal highland.

With the support of the air force, the soldiers of the First Brigade quickly destroyed the Japanese army's Camel Mountain position and continued to attack Dalian City.

The Japanese army introduced high tide water, increasing the area of ​​muddy terrain on the mudflats.

The tanks of a brigade were stuck in the muddy mudflats and could not move forward.

The brigade, lacking tank support, arrived at the Xiaohei Mountain area (today's northeastern Pulandian District) and was bombarded by Japanese artillery deployed on Xiaohei Mountain (the main peak, at an altitude of 469.1 meters, is the highest point in the area).

Xiaohei Mountain is steep and covered with dense vegetation. There are only a few narrow passages in the mountain - the Tuchengzi Ancient Road, which is passable.

The Japanese army also built fortifications on the hillside of Xiaohei Mountain in advance to block the advance of the first brigade from a high position.

A brigade lacking tank and aviation reinforcements launched two large-scale attacks in succession, but both were repelled by the Japanese army.

So they were ordered to temporarily stop the attack and confront the Japanese army across Xiaohei Mountain.

At around nine o'clock in the evening, the 17th Brigade rushed to the Dalian Combat Command from Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province.

As soon as Brigade Commander Chen of the 17th Brigade arrived at the command post, he immediately asked the brigade commander to assign combat tasks to them.

Since the entire province of Hebei was recovered, the main task of their brigade during this period was to wipe out the remaining Japanese and puppet troops and consolidate the defense of the base area.
