Devil's Army

Chapter 1677 Destroying Zhangguizhuang Airport

Some fighter planes of the Xiaoguanzhuang Air Force were hit by anti-aircraft shrapnel. They continued to participate in the air raid on Zhangguizhuang Airport, staggering.

More and more anti-aircraft guns were destroyed by Xiaoguanzhuang fighter planes, and the resistance at Zhangguizhuang Airport became weaker and weaker.

All the Japanese fighter planes that risked taking off from the airport were shot down during takeoff or escape.

For this, the Xiaoguanzhuang Air Force paid the price of having a fighter jet shot down.

More than half an hour later, the sound of anti-aircraft artillery fire from Zhangguizhuang Airport had stopped.

The Xiaoguanzhuang Air Force launched a full-scale attack on the fighter planes on the apron that had not yet taken off, as well as the aviation building and material warehouse.

The entire Zhangguizhuang Airport was engulfed in flames, and the two runways were bombed into potholes.

This air raid on Tianjin Zhangguizhuang Airport bombed and shot down 24 Japanese fighter planes of various types, destroyed a control tower, two airport runways, and three material warehouses.

The Xiaoguanzhuang Air Force also paid the price of four fighter planes being shot down and ten fighter planes being damaged.

During the battle at Zhangguizhuang Airport, the soldiers from the Tianjin Intelligence Station and the Beijing Intelligence Station kept a close eye on the movements of the Japanese troops at Tianjin Dongjuzi Airport and Beijing Nanyuan Airport.

Until the battle at Zhangguizhuang Airport ended, Japanese fighter planes from Tianjin and Beijing airports did not come to reinforce.

That afternoon, the Japanese military negotiators in Peiping arranged to meet with the First Army negotiators again at nine o'clock the next morning.

At 9 o'clock the next morning, the commander of the 67th Brigade of the Japanese Army expressed a strong protest to Brigade Commander Zhang, believing that the Tangshan base troops had violated the agreement between them.

Brigade Commander Zhang asked casually:

"You didn't agree to the number of troops we're going to send or to find your own base camp, so how can we have an agreement?"

The commander of the 67th Brigade of the Japanese Army was stunned.

Yes, he has been implementing Commander Okamura Yasuji's "dragging" strategy and has basically not signed any substantive agreement.

"This question is quite sensitive. I need to discuss it with Commander Okamura Yasuji before I can answer you. However, we have a verbal agreement that during the negotiation period you cannot attack our troops, and we will not attack yours."

"I'll go back and coordinate with the Air Force on this issue. After all, they're not under our direct management, but rather under the coordination of headquarters."

Then the two sides started talking nonsense that had no practical significance and reached some agreements that had no practical effect.

The commander of the 67th Brigade of the Japanese Army agreed to try his best to mediate with Commander Okamura Yasuji and agreed to the garrison and camp requirements of the Tangshan base troops.

Brigadier General Zhang also agreed to stop the air force from attacking Japanese troops during their negotiations.

Who knew that this agreement would be broken by the air force from Xiaoguanzhuang Airport two days later.

In order to prepare for the upcoming large-scale air battle, Deputy Commander Xu was transferred from Xinjing Airport to Tangshan Xiaoguanzhuang Airport.

He analyzed that if the Japanese wanted to defeat the Xiaoguanzhuang Air Force and successfully regain air superiority, they would have to adopt a wolf pack tactic. Their aircraft ratio with them would have to be one to three.

According to the intelligence station, there are about 130 fighter planes at the three airports in Tianjin and Beijing, which is obviously far from enough. Moreover, more than 20 fighter planes at the Zhangguizhuang Airport in Tianjin have been destroyed.

If more than 100 fighter jets were to arrive, Beijing Nanyuan Airport and Tianjin Dongjuzi Airport would obviously not be able to accommodate them.

There is only one option now, which is that the remaining 100 or so fighter jets should be deployed at North Korean airports.
