Devil's Army

Chapter 1644: Capture of the Japanese 14th Regiment Headquarters

The troops of the 14th Brigade continued to advance deep into Qiqihar, and successively captured the Beidaying of the th Regiment of the Japanese Army and the Japanese Military Police Headquarters on Haishan Road.

When attacking the Japanese 14th Division Headquarters on Zhengyang Street and the Japanese rd Front Army Headquarters in Dongshulin, they encountered stubborn resistance from the Japanese army.

The Japanese military headquarters was full of die-hards, so Wang Zhuangfei called in the air force and carried out indiscriminate bombing on these two places.

Many officers and soldiers of the Japanese 14th Division Headquarters and the Third Front Army Headquarters were wiped out in the fierce bombing of the Majiagou Air Force.

The soldiers of the 4th Brigade then launched another fierce attack on Zhengyang Street and Dongshulin, but they were still met with stubborn resistance from the diehard Japanese troops.

The soldiers had been fighting fiercely all day and were exhausted both physically and mentally. Wang Zhuangfei then ordered the offensive to be halted and to wait until tomorrow to capture the entire Qiqihar.

Now the outcome of Qiqihar is no longer in doubt. The regimental commanders did not arrange for their soldiers to attack the Japanese headquarters at night, but they still increased their vigilance to prevent them from making desperate moves and launching sneak attacks.

Qiqihar, where gunfire had rang out all day, fell into a rare tranquility.

As soon as the sun came out, the Majiagou Air Force began bombing the Japanese 14th Division Headquarters and the Third Front Army Headquarters.

A new day, and the bloody battle begins again.

After a day of fierce fighting yesterday, most of the Japanese artillery were destroyed by the Majiagou Air Force.

After the Majiagou Air Force stopped bombing, the tank troops took the lead and covered the infantry in attacking Zhengyang Street and Dongshulin.

The tank tracks of the First Army quickly tore through the Japanese outer defense line, forcing the Japanese to use artillery to bombard the tanks of the First Army.

The Japanese artillery bombardment did not last long, and the Majiagou Air Force flew over again and bombed him.

When a tank of the First Army appeared on Zhengyang Street, a Japanese soldier suddenly rushed out of a shop. Under the cover of the Japanese soldiers in the shop, he pounced on the tank, detonated a pack of explosives, and stuffed it into the tank's track.

The guards next to the tank rushed over and wanted to throw away the explosive pack, but were blocked by the Japanese soldiers in the shop.

There was a loud "boom" sound, and the tank suddenly stopped moving.

The driver and passengers in the tank were also knocked unconscious by the huge shock wave.

The rocket soldiers who arrived later immediately fired a rocket into the shop.

Before the smoke from the rockets had cleared, the infantry immediately rushed into the shops and cleared out the remaining Japanese troops.

By noon, more than half of Zhengyang Street had been captured.

The soldiers guarding the Japanese 14th Regiment headquarters were confined to a small area around the headquarters.

What made the Japanese commanders even more worried was that after a day and a half of fierce fighting, their ammunition consumption was huge and now it was obviously insufficient.

Seeing that the Japanese troops had been hiding behind buildings and resisting stubbornly, the regimental commander dispatched golden eagles from the air and tanks to cover the infantry from the ground to launch a fierce attack on the remaining Japanese troops.

The high-ranking officers of the Japanese 14th Regiment knew that there was no way to escape, so they asked the commander of the regiment to change into Japanese soldiers' clothes in an attempt to deceive them into being prisoners and have a chance to make a comeback.

The Japanese regimental commander, who was extremely concerned about his reputation, did not bother to change into soldier's clothes, blend in with the prisoners, and then find an opportunity to escape. However, he could not resist the soft and hard persuasion of several senior officers of the General Staff, so he obeyed their arrangements.

More than half an hour later, the soldiers of the Second Regiment captured the headquarters of the 14th Regiment of the Japanese Army and captured a group of senior officers of the headquarters and a small number of garrison soldiers.
