Devil's Army

Shortly after entering Hunchun, the battalion commander had a feeling that someone was watching them from the woods ahead, but when he looked closely, he couldn't see anyone.

He ordered the vanguard company to be on high alert and prepare for battle.

The company commander ordered the soldiers to stop advancing. He hid aside and observed carefully for a long time, but found nothing.

"Battalion Commander, are you seeing enemies everywhere?" asked the company commander.

"Battalion Commander, we are from the Hunchun Anti-Japanese First Brigade. It's getting dark soon. Are you still going to hurry?"

"This grove is too dangerous. Let's go through it and camp in the open area ahead."

"Okay, I'll go back and report to our captain. He might come to see you tonight."

At around seven o'clock in the evening, the man came to the battalion headquarters in a hurry with a tall and big man from Northeast China who had two guns on his waist.

As soon as he saw the battalion commander, he shook his hand and said excitedly:

"Battalion Commander, I've finally been waiting for you to come and recapture Hunchun."

"We had just recaptured Dongning County in Mudanjiang City, and upon receiving the order, we rushed over to recapture Hunchun."

"Hunchun is adjacent to the Soviet Union and North Korea. The Japanese army built many bunkers and fortifications here. It may be more difficult to attack than Dongning County in Mudanjiang."

"No matter how hard the devil's tortoise shell is, we must break it and drive them out of the country. If it is convenient, please tell us about the situation of the devils in Hunchun."

The captain then told the battalion commander about the various Japanese strongholds in Hunchun, troop deployments, and other situations.

The captain also focused on introducing the Hunchun Wujiashan Fortress, known as the "Eastern Maginot Line", to the battalion commander.

The original intention of building this defense line was to prevent the Soviet Red Army from attacking the Japanese Kwantung Army.

Now it has become a natural barrier preventing the First Anti-Japanese Army from retaking Hunchun.
