The bunker was located on a high ground, providing fire support to the Japanese troops in the ravines behind the barbed wire.

Since the fall of Xinjing, the Japanese army has been on guard against the attack of the devil's army on Harbin. Therefore, they set up an impenetrable defense line in the area of Guxiangtun and Wanggang Town in the south of Harbin.

When the 4th Brigade attacked the positions in Guxiangtun and Wanggang Town in southern Harbin, the soldiers of the 7th Brigade also began to attack the positions south of the Ash River.
