Devil's Army

Chapter 1438: Destroying the Japanese Anti-aircraft Artillery Positions in Zhuozi County

The pilots of the First Army soon discovered that the Japanese troops in Chahar Right Middle Banner, Chahar Right Rear Banner, Fengzhen City, and Zhuozi County were frequently mobilized and could launch attacks at any time on the Eighth Route Army Cavalry Detachment of Liangcheng County and the troops of the First Army in Chahar Right Front Banner and Jining County.

Deputy Captain Xu quickly sent the intelligence discovered by the pilot to the commander of the first regiment and Captain Yao.

These things had long been expected by the commander of the regiment and the captain of the detachment Yao. The intelligence from the pilot only further confirmed the Japanese intentions.

When the pilot was investigating Zhuozi County, he encountered a not very intensive attack from the Japanese anti-aircraft artillery unit.

After returning to Xinjing Airport, the pilot reported the incident to Deputy Captain Xu.

Deputy Captain Xu decided to launch an air strike on the Japanese anti-aircraft artillery positions.

The pilot asked a little worriedly:

"The Japanese anti-aircraft artillery positions have been exposed. Will they move? Will our air raid be in vain?"

Deputy Captain Xu smiled and responded:

"The Japanese military's officer school training puts firepower first. They don't have the concept of guerrilla warfare."

When the First Army Air Force was conducting reconnaissance on the Japanese troops in the counties and flags surrounding Liangcheng County, the 120th Division of the Eighth Route Army arranged a battalion of troops to march quickly into Liangcheng County to cooperate with Captain Yao's cavalry detachment to defend Liangcheng County.

This anti-aircraft artillery unit of the Japanese army was specially transferred from the north to deal with the tanks of the Devil Army.

Who knew that they couldn't stand the First Army Air Force flying around overhead for reconnaissance, so they opened fire rashly and exposed their positions.

The Japanese commander in Zhuozi County was a captain. He had not yet realized the seriousness of the problem. He simply instructed the anti-aircraft artillery unit to be more accurate next time and shoot down the devil unit's planes.

At four o'clock in the afternoon, two pilots in charge of reconnaissance flew to the Japanese anti-aircraft artillery positions in Zhuozi County with a fighter squadron and a bomber squadron.

For fear of alerting the enemy, the squadron leader asked two pilots to fly to the Japanese anti-aircraft artillery position first.

The Japanese soldiers at the anti-aircraft gun position saw the Devil Force planes coming over to investigate again. They remembered the captain's instructions and opened fire with all their strength, trying to shoot down the two Devil Force planes.

The two pilots flew close to the outer edge of the Japanese anti-aircraft artillery positions, reconnaissance of the deployment and scale of the Japanese anti-aircraft artillery positions while consuming the Japanese anti-aircraft artillery ammunition.

Fighter pilots occasionally strafed Japanese anti-aircraft artillery positions.

After a while, a large air force of the First Army arrived.

The First Army's bomber group began to rush into the Japanese anti-aircraft artillery fire network, diving and dropping bombs continuously.

The fighter groups of the First Army continuously rushed into the Japanese anti-aircraft artillery fire network and strafed the Japanese anti-aircraft artillery positions.

The only three anti-aircraft guns and three anti-aircraft machine guns of the Japanese anti-aircraft artillery position were all destroyed in the high-intensity bombing and strafing by the First Army's bombers and fighter planes.

The Japanese captain was furious when he heard that the anti-aircraft artillery position was destroyed by the Devil Forces' planes. He attributed the responsibility to the anti-aircraft artillery captain who fired without authorization, exposed the target, and did not move the anti-aircraft artillery position afterwards.

The captain slapped the anti-aircraft artillery captain several times and shouted that he would send the anti-aircraft artillery captain to a military court.

The anti-aircraft artillery captain stood straight and responded timidly:

“Hi, hi…”

He had reported his attack on the Devil Force's planes to the captain and received the captain's tacit approval.

Now that something has happened, the captain has pushed him out as a scapegoat.

He glanced sideways at the two officers beside him.

They also knew that the captain had tacitly allowed him to do so. However, the two Japanese officers had blank expressions on their faces, as if they had nothing to do with it and were indifferent.
