Wang Zhuangfei and the commander of the Seventh Brigade followed Leng Feng's deployment and sent troops to recapture some towns between Xinjing and Harbin.

Then they sent troops to build fortifications and stationed troops there, turning this place into a frontier position connecting Harbin to Xinjing.

At this time, the Second Regiment of the Brigade was attacking Dafangshen in the west of Xinjing.

There is a Xinjing Airport in Dafangshen, western suburbs of Xinjing (now the western end of Yingbin Road, Luyuan District, Changchun City).

It was completed and opened to traffic in 1935, covering an area of ​​5.66 square kilometers. The main runway is 1565 meters long and 145 meters wide; the secondary runway is 800 meters long and 80 meters wide, running from southwest to northeast, and the apron is made of cement.

The airport has built-in hangars, oil depots, terminal buildings, navigation stations, and aircraft repair shops.

After the airport was built, it became the center of the "Manchukuo" aviation route, capable of taking off and landing "Type 20 advanced trainer aircraft", "Mc passenger aircraft", Douglas, Lockheed and other aircraft models.

At that time, there were flights from Xinjing to "domestic" cities such as Dalian, Harbin, Chifeng, Mudanjiang, Manzhouli, Andong (Dandong), and later "international routes" were opened between Manchuria, Mongolia, Korea, and Japan.

Therefore, taking over the Xinjing Airport was a major political blow to the puppet Manchukuo and the Japanese Kwantung Army.

After the defeat of the Japanese Kwantung Army Air Division, a small number of fighters and bombers were parked at the Xinjing Airport.

When the 7th and 4th Brigades launched an attack on Xinjing, the Japanese planes at the Xinjing Airport retreated northward for fear of being attacked by air.

However, there were still anti-aircraft artillery troops and a large number of airport guards left here. They were ready to defend the airport and wait for the arrival of reinforcements from Harbin.
