The Japanese army retreated to Guanyinshan position, and the soldiers of the second battalion approached the Japanese Guanyinshan position. However, when the soldiers of the second battalion launched an attack on the Japanese Guanyinshan position, they found that the problem was not that simple.

Guanyin Mountain is an important passage controlled by the Japanese army to enter the Sanzao Island aircraft base.

The Japanese army built several bunkers on the hillside of Guanyin Mountain using reinforced concrete.

When the soldiers of the Second Battalion attacked Guanyin Mountain, they came under heavy fire from Japanese machine guns in the bunker, resulting in heavy casualties.

The third regiment commander called in the regiment's artillery and launched a fierce bombing on the Japanese bunkers on Guanyin Mountain.

But the effect was not great. The shells that hit the bunker directly only blew out a piece of cement on the surface of the bunker.

The commander of the third regiment immediately requested support from the Weizhou Island Air Force.

Soon, two First Army bombers flew to Guanyin Mountain and launched a fierce bombing on the Guanyin Mountain positions on both sides of the path.

However, the bunker on Guanyin Mountain was too small a target for the pilots in the air, and there was no way to hit it directly.
