Eventually, they were completely wiped out by soldiers from two battalions of the Seventh Brigade on the city wall at the south gate of Zhonggu Town.

Zhonggu Town was finally recaptured by the commander of the 7th Brigade. This was the first town recaptured by the First Army since Commander Michiro Umezu launched a massive campaign against the old base of the Anti-Japanese First Army.
