Devil's Army

Chapter 101 Another Mysterious Visitor

That afternoon, Leng Feng was arranging soldiers to transport the bullet shells and shrapnel brought by Wang Zhuangfei into the underground tunnel next to the reserve arsenal. A sentry came to report: A volunteer who came a few days ago brought a dandy boy who played with birds to see him.

Leng Feng was happy, there were all kinds of birds in the forest. The dandy boy who played with birds also came to see him.

"Should we drive him away?" asked the sentry.

"Take him to the reception room, I'll be there soon." Leng Feng clapped his hands and walked out of the tunnel entrance.

Leng Feng arrived at the reception room and saw a volunteer who had been dispersed by the Japanese some time ago and came to him for help. Next to him stood a dandy boy with a scarf wrapped around his face, revealing only a pair of eyes, and holding a bird cage in his right hand.

When the volunteer saw Leng Feng coming in, he immediately introduced him to the dandy boy, "This is the leader of our unit, Captain Leng."

When the dandy heard the introduction of the volunteer soldier, he immediately put the bird cage on the table, clasped his hands together and bowed:

"Captain Leng, I'm Song Zhipeng." He winked at the volunteer soldier, who went out tactfully and closed the door behind him.

Leng Feng took a look at the pair of birds that the dandy had placed on the table, and immediately knew that this man was definitely not an ordinary dandy who played with birds, because they were a pair of carrier pigeons.

"I am the contact person for Commander Li of the 24th Army. His base was destroyed by the Japanese some time ago and his whereabouts are unknown. He once told me that if I have any problems, I can go to the Oroqen tribe to find Captain Leng. You are one of our own who can be trusted."

"Oh, it turns out you are General Li's distinguished guest. Please take a seat!" Leng Feng greeted him warmly.

Song Zhipeng took off his scarf and sat down, then said to Leng Feng:

"At present, the only troops near Fengtian that can fight the Japanese are probably you, Captain Leng."

"Our current strength is still very small, and we are only temporarily isolated in a corner relying on the terrain advantage. If the Japanese send out a large force, it will still be difficult for us to compete with them."

Song Zhipeng nodded in agreement.

"Are your carrier pigeons delivering messages?" Leng Feng asked, pointing at the pair of birds on the table.

"Yes. I used to pass messages to General Li and his men."

"We don't have a contact point in Fengtian City. Can we join forces with Mr. Song?"

"This is the reason why I came here. I want to raise this pair of pigeons here to use them to transmit messages." Then he explained to Leng Feng in detail the precautions of raising homing pigeons.

For the sake of confidentiality, Song Zhipeng could not stay for long, and before leaving, he told Leng Feng that he would release the male pigeons in a day and keep the female pigeons locked up. If there was any news, he would tell him through the male pigeons.

Three days later in the morning, the male pigeon flew to the female pigeon cage and cooed. A small bamboo tube was tied to its feet.

Leng Feng grabbed the male pigeon, untied the small bamboo tube on its foot, and put the male pigeon into the cage. He also grabbed a handful of corn to feed them.

He pulled out a piece of paper from the small bamboo tube, which read: Yesterday, a group of Korean Japanese troops came to Fengtian, with about three thousand people.

Leng Feng wrote on a small piece of paper: "Pay attention to the movement." Then he stuffed it into a small bamboo tube, sealed it tightly, tied it to the female pigeon's feet, and let the female pigeon fly back.

That morning, the second squadron leader under Wu Lang intercepted an important message: a truck will leave from Faku County and go to Tieling County to deliver medicines at noon today. A squadron of Japanese soldiers will be escorting the truck.

When Wenlang was there, he forced the squadron leader to learn Japanese, so the squadron leader could roughly understand general Japanese.

Wu Lang immediately called the four squadron leaders together in the war room of the cave to discuss countermeasures.

"Captain, are we going to ambush them here again as we did last time?" asked the captain of the first squadron.

"No, this time we'll go to a different place to confuse the Japanese. Let's go here," Wu Lang pointed at the sand table and said, "This is a perfect place to turn, and the car speed will also slow down."

"Captain, it takes more than one and a half hours to get here from Faku County. It also takes more than two hours to get here from Tiaobingshan County. We don't need to divide our forces to fight the reinforcements. Let's go together and win a quick victory?" asked the captain of the second squadron.

"Well, I think it's okay!"

"Our four squadrons are fighting against one squadron of the Japanese, it's as easy as grabbing eggs with your hands." Hu Facai was promoted to the captain of the third squadron because of his agility in fighting and his many tricks. He also continued to speak after the captains of the first and second squadrons finished speaking.

"You only remember to eat all day long. You grab eggs with your hands. Why don't you grab chicken legs with your hands?" Wu Lang scolded.

"I also want to grab chicken legs, but there are none?" Hu Facai spread his hands and said aggrievedly.

The crowd burst into laughter.

"The Japanese army set out from Faku County and arrived here at about 20:. I now order: the first and second squadrons to ambush on the left side of the road, and the third squadron and the reserve squadron to ambush on the right side of the road. Take my gun as the order, launch the attack at the same time, resolve the battle within half an hour, and then evacuate quickly. If an accident occurs, the first squadron will be responsible for blocking the Japanese army from Diaobingshan County, and the third squadron will be responsible for blocking the Japanese army from Faku County. Gather the troops immediately and set off in minutes."

"Yes!" The four squadron leaders stood at attention and responded, then quickly went to gather the troops.

At around 11:00 am, all the troops were in place.

Around two o'clock in the afternoon, a truck and a squadron of Japanese soldiers appeared in everyone's sight.

As the truck turned and slowed down, a LR-4 gunshot rang out. A splash of blood splashed on the truck's windshield. Gunshots also rang out on both sides of the road.

The Japanese soldiers who were not knocked down also lay down and fought back. But the difference in firepower was too great. In less than half an hour, all the Japanese soldiers in a squadron were wiped out.

Everyone quickly cleaned up the battlefield and retreated carrying the medicines on the truck.

When the Japanese reinforcements from Faku County arrived, there was no sign of a single ghost except the corpses of the Imperial Army soldiers wearing only their trousers.
