HP: For a better world

Chapter 58 [Innocent blood will be shed]

The last exam for Harry and Ron was Divination, while Winston and Hermione had Muggle Studies in addition to Divination.

But when Harry asked how they were going to take the exam.

Winster and Hermione looked at each other, and Winster cleared his throat first and said, "We plan to take the Divination class first. We have already told the professor that the Muggle Studies exam is just a paper... As long as we pass the Divination exam in advance, we will still have time to go back."

Hermione nodded seriously.

"Okay," said Harry, "so we should study for the exam together now? ... I have to think about how to make one, um..."

Harry fell into deep thought as he spoke, "You said I pretended to see how my Potions grades were... I bet I'm accurate."

Winster's face twitched twice. "Considering the messiness of your pot and borscht, I think everything is reasonable as long as you don't go insane and give an answer higher than A."

Winster didn't know his exam number yet, but he hoped to follow Harry. If he remembered correctly, he remembered that after this exam, Professor Trelawney would suddenly make a prediction... He had to make sure the prophecy had not changed.

When they arrived on the eighth floor, Ron was waiting for them.

A bunch of people were crowded here in a mess, reading "Seeing the Future Through the Mist" with sad faces.

Ron grabbed Harry and they recited divination images to each other. They planned to mainly recite various divination techniques... After all, they would have to make up the content when the time came.

Neville was also here. He noticed Winster and Hermione coming over. "Hi, Hermione... Winster." He smiled at them nervously. After he joined Winster's club, he had not had much contact with Winster. However, Hermione and Luo provided him with a lot of help.

But Neville remembered that Winston had helped him divert Snape's attention in Potions class.

Luo was also flipping through the textbook, but Winster was sure that he was just bored. Before the exam, Winster had specially reviewed it with his classmates in the club. Since he knew the test questions, he could use them to his advantage.

But for divination classes, you can only rely on remembering the images in the crystal ball.

Winster and Luo both memorized it.

Seeing him coming, Luo Ou quickly stood up and said, "You are here, Winster. No need to queue up. Professor Trelawney said that she will call us at the right time according to the instructions of fate..." Luo Ou paused and added the information he had heard:

"I guess she has sorted them, but she refused to tell us in order to keep it secret. The first student to come out was from Ravenclaw. She said Professor Trelawney claimed that if you leak the exam contents, you will encounter terrible things." Loial shrugged. "She said nonsense. Everyone knows that the terrible thing is that if you leak the exam contents, the school will treat you as cheating and punish you."

Neville looked over in surprise, "...So you're talking about cheating?...I thought..." He trailed off and felt a little embarrassed, "I thought, it was about bad luck happening to us."

Luo Ou was a little speechless for a moment, and after a while he shook his head and said, "...You are so gullible, Longbottom."

"We obviously asked that classmate together, and she obviously didn't care about what Professor Trelawney said, but she still didn't tell us the details?... Forget it, just don't say anything."

Winster looked at Neville, who was trying to retreat with a somewhat aggrieved "oh", with a helpless look on his face. "How about you remember the crystal ball image, Neville?"

Neville was stuck, hesitated for a while, stretched out his hand to show a small part, "Maybe, remember about a quarter?"

Seeing that everyone had a headache on their faces, he quickly added: "I'm really trying to remember it, but will we really be testing crystal balls? Why not tea leaf divination?"

"She can't possibly make a pot of tea for every student that comes in."

Winster said, "Tea leaf divination requires the first brew of tea, the first brew of tea... I don't think Professor Trelawney is dedicated enough to brew it for every student."

Besides, Winster added in his heart, Professor Trelawney would not be willing to spend so much tea for an exam - she couldn't bear it. Most of the school's extra funds this year have been occupied by the urgently needed supplementary potion materials.

Every year Professor Trelawney tried to apply for a little more money from Professor McGonagall, but this time the vengeful Snape applied in advance and got his application approved.

Professor McGonagall approved at lightning speed——

This was what Snape said when he was inadvertently showing off that he had control over many sources of potions, and he also criticized Winston for being too dependent on the potion shop owner in Diagon Alley.

Then he gave him a bunch of Boomslang skins and asked him to experiment with his own potions... The quality of the channels was much better than the ones the potion boss contacted.

After becoming a potion master, the teacher rarely sold his potions to the boss. He mostly accepted private orders... The Felicity Potion that was "conveniently" given to him in the last memory flashback was of this type.

...Speaking of which, the last potion experiment will be finished after the exam today...This is the last time to mix the dried nettle and wormwood infusion in the right proportion. If it fails again, he will have to start over. He needs to examine whether there is a problem with his previous materials.

Neville didn't get to recite any longer before he was called away by Professor Trelawney's voice through the trapdoor above his head. He climbed the silver spiral staircase tremblingly to go to the exam.

Then came Loial and Ron.

The two of them followed closely, and as soon as they came down, Loial couldn't wait to say, "Your guesses are all correct, Winster."

Winster nodded as a matter of course, and then urged him to go check the crucible for him... A Boggart that can't find a weakness and just uses an annoying thing to scare people is really useless, but it's better not to explode if possible.

The weather has been changing too fast recently, and the occasional light rain in the late spring in the UK has made Winster a little worried.

But before Harry, Hermione was called.

Fortunately, Hermione was calm enough and made up a set of words to deal with Trelawney, otherwise her terrible silence when she was answering Hermione's question about the scene shown by the crystal ball would be enough for Hermione, who had no patience with the deceptive words in Divination class, to throw the exam room away.

When Hermione came back, Winster asked her, "What did you answer?"

Hermione sneered, "I told her that I saw in the crystal ball that the only final exam grade I would get that didn't get an O (perfect) was Divination."

"I am sure that every one of my divination techniques was accurate and answered all the questions she asked. She didn't find a chance to deduct points from me... If she wants to deny my prediction and give me a low score, then my score will remain in the A grade - my divination is correct, and she should give me full marks." Hermione raised her chin and looked down on Trelawney who was talking nonsense. "- If she wants to prove that I am wrong, she has to give me full marks."

"She's gotta choose one anyway!" said Hermione.

The final exams at Hogwarts are different from normal homework. Although you can only see the OAE transcript when the final report is issued, in fact, the exams are added and subtracted according to the scores.

Hermione's precise score control gave Trelawney a dilemma - as long as she insisted on the prophet's ideas, she would have to hold her nose and give Hermione a perfect score.

At the very least, it was an A. That was within Hermione's tolerance. After all, for her, this was a cheating subject. If she couldn't do it perfectly, it was because she disdained cheating. If she did it perfectly, it was what she deserved for her hard work.

"Awesome!" Winster applauded.

Hermione accepted Winston's applause with satisfaction, then said goodbye to him and prepared to go and see Buckbeak's appeal first. Ron had already gone there, but she still planned to make one last effort.

Winster told her that he planned to collect the potions and then meet them.

Now only Winston and Harry were left.

Harry was still memorizing diligently. It wasn't that Winston didn't give him hints about the test questions, hinting several times that he might be tested on crystal ball divination...but Harry was just nervous.

Winster walked over and was pulled by him, wanting to sit down on the stairs with him. Winster struggled for a while, but couldn't find a cushion, so he could only quickly clean up the stairs - even Hermione could do it silently, so there was no reason why Winster couldn't do it.

"I'm worried that I'll see something ominous." Harry leaned over and whispered, "What should I answer then? I'll exaggerate the date of my own death again. A Gryffindor classmate who just graduated told me that that wouldn't work - she seemed to be in a bad mood, always picking and choosing the way they choose to die... I don't think I can come up with an original idea for my death." Harry said with a bitter face.

"But aren't you going to talk about your Potions results? You said something like "good" which is just above the passing line. As long as it's not a T (troll), you won't be held back... the school won't let you be held back." Winster paused, thinking of Harry's pot of chaos... It's hard to say if it was because Snape was always watching him that he performed poorly. If it was another student, Winster would definitely have been treated as a T after seeing that pot of potion. But Snape wouldn't let the savior be held back, and Dumbledore wouldn't allow it either.

A standing hero cannot have any weaknesses. He can be imperfect and have flaws, but he cannot be weak.

Voldemort has no morals.

If poisoning Dumbledore could win, he would have done it long ago.

Of course, Harry definitely didn't believe this. He always believed that Snape had bad intentions, even though he had changed his mind about Snape, who always took care of Winchester.

But Snape never gave up targeting Harry.

So Winster only talked about school.

Harry: "..."

Harry: “You’re right.”

Harry was silent for a moment, relieved, and then Professor Trelawney called to Harry.

"I'll be on my way first," said Harry hastily, and he climbed the spiral staircase, pushed open the trapdoor overhead and climbed up.

Only Winster was left, waiting silently, counting the time and escaping aimlessly.

……

The tower room was extremely hot and stuffy. The curtains were drawn, and there was a fire burning in the fireplace. I don't know what spices were burning in the stove, and the smell was so strong that it was a bit choking.

Harry coughed and made his way from the pile of desks to where Professor Trelawney sat waiting for him, with a large, dimly glowing crystal ball in front of her.

"Hello, dear," Trelawney said softly.

Harry sat down in front of her tremblingly, sitting very straight, with his hands placed obediently on his knees and his back straight.

"Today we have a crystal ball divination test... I will time you, and you have to use your natural third eye to explore the infinite future within a limited time... Outside the examination room, it is the same for the prophets - a short life, an infinite future." She said, as if intoxicated by the smell in the air.

The spice smell is getting stronger.

Harry began divination as best he could according to his memory, then answered a few questions posed by Professor Trelawney and looked intently into the crystal ball.

"…What did you see, child?"

"..." Harry only saw a white mist, "Uh... a white mist?"

Out of the corner of his eye he saw Professor Trelawney begin to frown, as if she was beginning to doubt that he had no gift for prophecy.

White fog is a sign of failed prophecy.

He quickly added: "It seems to be moving... um." Harry racked his brains to make up a story, but still forgot about the nonsense about the potions results. "Hmm..." He squinted his eyes, as if trying to see the changes in the crystal ball clearly.

"...Uh, a black dog appeared from the white fog—"

He hesitated for a moment, "This indicates that I will encounter something ominous. There is also a moon in the sky, perhaps telling me that it will be night."

Professor Trelawney seemed to take a few notes, then waited for a moment, watching Harry rack his brains to think, and when he couldn't come up with the next sentence, he spoke.

"Well, child, fate tells me that your time is up. I'm afraid it has already shown you all of its mysteries, although you have only seen a small part of it. But for most people, it is already difficult enough."

Harry was a little surprised that she didn't say anything weird, but he stood up quickly to finish the exam.

The aroma was so overpowering that even Harry felt a little dizzy.

But he had not walked far when he heard Professor Trelawney fall to the ground with a thud.

"Professor Trelawney?!" Harry was startled and turned his head away.

"It's all going to happen, tonight."

Professor Trelawney fell to the ground, her eyes lifeless, only her chest was still rising and falling, and her voice came out hoarsely from her throat.

Harry hurried over and tried to help her up, but she suddenly raised herself up and grabbed him.

Trelawney began to tremble all over, as if she were ill. The trembling was transmitted from her hand holding Harry, making Harry tremble as well.

"...Professor?" Harry spoke tremblingly, feeling something was wrong. He wanted to shake off Trelawney's hand and run away the next second.

In order to ensure that Harry would not run around, the ghost stories that Winchester and Hermione told together played out one after another in Harry's mind.

But Harry still held on. He was worried that Professor Trelawney was having a seizure, so he was ready to ask another question. If there was no response, he would rush out to call for help.

Trelawney did speak, but it didn't quite sound like a reply. The sound was like a scream from the Forbidden Forest at night, or like a cold wind blowing over the Black Lake on a cold winter's day - Harry shuddered and wanted to run.

"The Dark Lord lies alone, friendless, forsaken by his companions. For twelve years his servant has been imprisoned. Tonight, before the moon reaches its highest point, the servant will break free of his chains and begin his quest for his master. With his servant's help, the Dark Lord will rise again, more powerful and terrible than ever before. Innocent blood will be shed - tonight - before midnight - the servant - will begin - to find - his master again -"

"What?!" Harry pushed her fearfully, trying to get her to explain. "Professor? What are you talking about?"

But the push seemed to wake Trelawney.

"Why did I fall to the ground?"

Harry took a deep breath, "…Professor, you just fainted and said something. Do you remember what you just said?"

"What? Oh...oh, I put too much spice in it." Trelawney answered in a daze, shaking her head and pointing her wand at the window.

The wind surged in.

"Cough cough..." Harry choked again due to the changed air.

Trelawney was fully awake.

"Professor? Ahem, do you remember what you said?" Harry coughed twice and asked hurriedly. Because of Winston, they more or less believed that Professor Trelawney had some predictive ability, but it was not normally seen.

But Harry felt that what happened just now was not normal, unless she had gone to great lengths to give Harry an unforgettable test.

"Did I say anything? The aroma is so strong, I might just have said some nonsense."

"But... you said - the Dark Lord will rise again."

But Harry's voice was drowned out by Trelawney's suddenly raised voice, "—I didn't say anything!"

"Alright! Child, full marks! Fate is close to you and yet far away from you. I'm afraid I can't talk to you any more. Fate has already given me a warning. This coma is just like that. You should leave."

She spoke quickly and ordered him to leave.

Harry was speechless and had to leave.
