HP: For a better world
Chapter 40: Extra: Luo's Story
My name is Loyal, Loyal Cliff. But maybe you will be more familiar with my other name - Lo, Lo Cliff.
This is my nickname. My father often calls me this, from affection to helplessness.
"Loou...you can't, you can't just reject them like this." Dad always said to me with a sigh full of helplessness.
"Why? They were the ones who abandoned you first, and they were the ones who changed your last name! And now that they see your offspring are of some use again, they come to me eagerly and ask me to be a follower of another person of my age? Why?!"
"…We are not of the same age. He is a few years older than you…" Dad's pale words slipped through my ears weakly, but I didn't care at all. What if he is a few years older? I am not a vassal of anyone. Although my name was called loyalty from the beginning.
From a very young age, I knew I was different. When I was five, I floated in the air in front of my father's subordinates. To be honest, they and I were all shocked. I screamed in fear in the air, and they screamed on the ground, watching me floating in the air at a loss.
It was Dad, always calm and composed, who firmly ordered those employees to get out, and then gently asked me to calm down.
"Loou... Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, Loou, listen to me, this is just a manifestation of your talent, it's no big deal, calm down, you will return to the ground, I will catch you below, son!"
"Oops. You've gotten heavier again, Loial." Dad caught me and couldn't help laughing.
"Dad!" "Okay, okay, I won't say you've become heavier, Loial. Listen to me, your flying into the sky today was just an explosion of the magic in your body. You are a little wizard, Loial."
I was too young to see the worry hidden behind my father's happiness. He just told me -
"You are a little wizard! Loial, you can turn cats into rabbits, make hats sing loudly, fly into the sky, and talk to birds - you are a little wizard, Loial."
"But Dad, why can't you fly?"
"Because I'm not, only you, Luo. You are a wizard." Dad's eyes were filled with relief.
"What about mom? Is mom a wizard?"
"No, she isn't either, but you are the treasure she gave me... I love you, son."
"…I love you too, Dad."
……
When I grew up, I realized that my mother died when I was born. She was one of those ordinary Muggles, nothing great, but she and my father fell in love and gave birth to me. I am the fruit of their love.
I carry their love in me.
On the afternoon that I received the letter from Hogwarts, a group of superior black-robed men broke into our home.
"Cliff? Loeo Cliff?" As they rushed in, they didn't care about my father's angry shouts at all and came straight towards me.
"Who are you? Get out of my house!" I had never seen my father so angry, the anger rose from his neck to his face. He roared.
But Luo saw that his father's gun was not pointed at those people... his father knew them.
Seeing that I didn't dare to speak, those people condescended to turn their heads to my father.
"Ah... Cliff. What good luck. The first generation to leave the family regained magic." The guy raised his head high and didn't even want to look at my father, as if he was a dirty thing that would pollute his eyes. He just pointed his chin at him and said, "Maybe you still have some impression... I'm your cousin."
"Marcus Flint. Why did you come back to see me?" My father stood in front of me and questioned them. "Didn't I leave the family and be removed from the family tree a long time ago?"
"Isn't it because you were blessed by Merlin to give birth to a wizard? It's so lucky that a Squib gave birth to a wizard in the first generation. You should be grateful for the Flint blood in your body, Cliff." He looked up and down at Luo's father, his eyes moved to his lower body with disgust, and then immediately retracted them as if he was burned.
Luo almost suspected that his father would be so angry that he would point the gun at the man's face and shoot him. He was so angry that his lips were shaking.
"Do you want him to return to the family?" His father's low voice sounded above Luo's head. Luo wanted to look up to see his expression, but a big hand pressed his head down.
"No. How can a Squib's offspring be worthy of returning to the family? You have a nice idea, but I'm afraid he will pollute the family blood - bah."
Luo tried desperately to raise his head to see the man's ugly face, but his father held his head down mercilessly.
"So...what are you doing here?"
"Heh." The man actually laughed. "My son, little Marcus Flint, is studying in the noble and pure Slytherin family at Hogwarts and needs a follower. I think your son is a good one and the name fits the bill." He nodded to Luo with satisfaction. Luo's father was left aside again.
"You are crazy... He is my son!"
"Oh, so what," said Marcus haughtily, "He has Flint blood in his veins. He should serve the family."
"What?! No..." His father pushed Loio into the room, not letting him continue listening.
But that evening, his father walked into Luo's room with a tired face and said.
"...If you were in Slytherin, Loial...I hope you would listen to little Marcus."
"What? Dad—why?!" I didn't understand at all. Didn't he love me? Why would he let me be a vassal of another person? To be servile and fawning?
"Listen to me, kid. This is for your own good..."
"Do not!!!"
"Why? Just because he's the pureblood you told me about?! I'm not anyone's vassal - you heard the tone that man talked about us. I'm not someone who was born to be someone's follower. I'm the fruit of your and mom's love. I -"
"...Oh no...I'm sorry for you, Luo, I'm sorry." Dad knelt on the ground, hugged me, kissed my forehead and cried.
"I can't help you, I'm just a Squib, a pathetic Squib... You're being targeted by them, a pathetic offspring of a Squib and a Muggle! What use can I be?"
The statue of my father collapsed.
"Dad... I'm grown up. I can handle this. Leave it to me. I'll go to school and take care of it."
Daddy held me tight, pressing his chest against my head.
Then I was in Slytherin.
The talking hat echoed in my mind that I was ambitious and should go to Slytherin.
But what ambition do I have? I just don't want to be anyone's vassal.
After the sorting, little Marcus came to me soon. I found out that he was not my peer, but a few years older than me. He was running for prefect and needed support. So as soon as his father knew about me, he ran over and asked me to obey him.
They are all father’s treasures.
Why should I listen to him?
So when little Marcus asked me to help him carry his bag and books and show off to the younger grades, I refused him.
He stared at me in disbelief - sorry, calling him little Marcus all the time really doesn't do justice to his size. Let's just call him Marcus - he stared at me and said to me in an incredible tone: "Are you rejecting me? Rejecting your..." He thought for a while but still couldn't come up with a corresponding name, then stopped thinking impatiently: "Rejecting your...whatever it is - rejecting your master?"
"Oh, Master, puchi, but I haven't joined your family tree yet, Flint. My name is Luo, Luo Cliff." I said with great joy. What era is it, there are still people playing the noble game. I stopped playing when I was eight years old.
"But you, don't you want your share of the inheritance?!"
"What inheritance rights? I don't care at all." I laughed contemptuously, and easily ended one of my future directions. Whoever wants to be a vassal can do it. I don't lack these things at all. I have my father, and - my wand. These are enough.
"It's yours. Take my word for it, Marcus. I am loyal to myself."
"You!" Marcus angrily led his other followers away. I don't know if I saw envy in their eyes.
But I know that after that, I was in deep trouble.
Marcus was angry at my resistance. He didn't believe that I was willing to give up his inheritance rights. He started to bully me with his followers. Of course, I couldn't let them bully me. I was a wizard who had received an orthodox elementary school education. Of course, I should go to the teacher for such things.
But Luo observed carefully and found that Dean Snape seemed to be an accomplice of the pure blood. He basically didn't care about the problems within the college unless they were serious enough to be brought to his attention. Luo was not sure whether he would help him.
Telling the teachers of other colleges...it seems that the consequences will only be more serious. And he is even less familiar with them. Who could be Flint's accomplice? Luo Ou fell into a daze.
Just when he was at a loss, White appeared. He seemed to have mastered the method of winning the dean's favor. He could always cleverly and flexibly avoid those bad intentions and let them be punished.
Even though he couldn't cast any magic.
Is he the son of a Squib? Or the child of a Muggle and a wizard?
Why was he so calm and composed, and able to pass through the darkness of Slytherin without being tainted for a moment? He could only brew some basic potions.
Luo Ou pondered these questions amid the ridicule and contempt of those people.
He was more like a Squib son than I was.
——He is calm and powerful.
It's not about magic, it's about spirit.
He was helping every single student he saw being bullied.
Is he a saint? Why every one?
So much so that he asked this question later. But White's cold expression seemed to be welded on his face, and he just replied indifferently: "I saw it."
So noble.
But the help Loial received was silent. Marcus was only called away when he was bullying him. And when he came back, he lost his chance to become a prefect.
They were supposed to be selected during the holidays, but it seemed that the school was busy with other things, so the selection of class leaders was postponed.
Then White walked into the bathroom, came up to me amidst the sewage and slugs on the floor, and reached out to pull me up.
"Thank you, ugh." I stood up shakily and vomited a few slugs from my throat. I couldn't help but say, "I really don't understand why I am treated like this just because I am the son of a Squib."
"…Because they are stupid." White's cold voice rang out.
I was shocked. "Oh, sorry you can talk. I thought you would just keep a cold face and ignore everyone."
White looked at him speechlessly: "Do you think I'm dumb?"
"Then why don't you speak? This seems to be the first time I've heard you speak."
"Because I think they are stupid." White said coldly.
"To judge someone by his origins, not his talent, is something only fools who are blinded by bloodline can do."
"Ugh." I couldn't help but bend down and spit out a bunch of slugs.
He looked at the amount of slugs I spat out and said with regret, "It looks like we're going to be short of a lot of slugs for our Potions class again. Don't those idiots know that this spell is actually a summoning spell? The amount consumed this year is too high, and the dean is furious."
I vomited up a few more slugs. "You're right, White. No one wants to expect these slimy creatures in Potions class."
"It seems that you are still in good spirits. There is no need for me to send you to the medical wing." White pushed my hand away coldly and prepared to leave.
"Oh please, hand me the wand." I reached over and grabbed him again. I was almost exhausted from spitting slugs, and I didn't want to see them in Potions class for the next few days.
White rolled his eyes, silently picked up my wand accurately from a puddle of dirty water and handed it to me.
"Stop the spell." I immediately shouted in a clear voice. The vomiting trend stopped immediately. I vomited out the last two slugs as thick as earthworms that came out of my mouth and leaned against White tiredly. After so many times, I had already mastered this practical spell.
"So why do they believe in this so-called bloodline so much? You seem to know much more than I do."
"No, I just know that everything is just for profit. Except for lunatics and maniacs."
"What about you...why are you helping me? What kind of person are you talking about?"
"Me? I'm the crazy one."
-
"Birthplace never means everything. Because our lives will not be repeated. No one should be another's slave, no one should be born under anyone else. No one is born sinful. We are just the result of an encounter in our parents' lives, whether good or bad."
"Give me your hand, we are the united and noble Slytherins.
Glory is not based on bloodline."
