HP: For a better world

Chapter 120 Arrival at Durmstrang

"What happened?" A group of people in pajamas ran to the common room and shouted, asking around in panic.

"I'm going to find the dean!" a junior student shouted with a pale face, feeling that the whole castle was shaking with the loud noise just now.

"It can't be an earthquake." Carl said nervously, grabbing Mike's arm and moving closer to the gathered crowd.

The Slytherins had split into two groups. The seniors and some familiar "old friends" gathered together and occupied the most central position in the lounge.

His little group huddled away from the largest window in the Slytherin Common Room.

"Can there be earthquakes in Hogwarts?" Mike scratched his hair and obediently squeezed in with Carl, Winston and the others.

"I haven't heard of it." Winster yawned listlessly, as if he hadn't slept at all. He added: "But I heard a loud noise - there should be no more buildings near Hogwarts. Could it be that a tower collapsed? My illusion?"

"I heard that, too." "I also heard..." "I heard it all."

"Then it's not an illusion. Maybe something really collapsed." Luo Ou said.

As he spoke, the Slytherin Common Room began to shake violently as if it had been pushed by a giant.

A few junior students who felt that the center was too dangerous lost their balance and rolled over, only to be stopped by Winster and the others.

"——" Winster seemed to have bitten his tongue while shaking just now. He covered his mouth and cursed fiercely, but it was not clear to hear amid the screams.

"Cologne, go find Professor Snape...why hasn't he come yet?" Winster hissed in pain.

Mike blocked Carl's fall and asked, "Why don't we just go up? No one is stopping us!"

Winster said with a serious expression, "There may still be danger. If someone breaks in, you may collide with them head-on if you go up now... The prefect has sent someone to find Professor Snape. He is on duty tonight. If we are lucky enough, he will be nearby and will be able to get to the lounge soon."

Apparently, they were out of luck. After an anxious wait, the roar came again.

The first person to notice what was going on let out a sharp bang and shouted in fear: "Look out the window - what is that?!"

Outside the window - even at the bottom of the lake, one could see a dark shadow descending from the sky with a huge sense of oppression, getting bigger and bigger - a huge ship like the legendary Flying Dutchman, like a cannonball carrying huge kinetic energy and potential energy, roaring and crashing into the shore of the Black Lake, setting off a surging wave. One end was submerged, and the other end was lifted high.

The invisible waves hit the glass windows that were built at the same time as Hogwarts. The second loud noise sounded suddenly and suddenly as if delayed, making everyone's heads dizzy at the same time.

But this is not the end - in the direction pointed by the screaming student, the giant octopus, the defender who had lived at the bottom of the lake for a long time, was awakened, and a 200-foot-long mast broke off from the ship and fell to the bottom of the lake, piercing one of its tentacles and nailing it to the bottom of the lake.

The intense pain deeply enraged it, and it angrily waved all its tentacles that could still move, vowing to give this hateful invader a ruthless blow... Several huge tentacles climbed upwards and mercilessly broke off all the remaining masts of the ship that fell from the sky. The bow was half submerged in the water, and someone was screaming at the rudder. Bubbles gurgled out of his mouth, and he swam frantically to try to escape, but was caught and pulled off by the giant octopus along with the rudder at the bow.

Some people tried to get a better view by sticking to the glass, while others were stunned for a moment and then screamed in horror:

“Back off!!!!”

Then, everyone in the common room felt the despair of the Demtronx student who was swept up along with the rudder. The window glass of the common room finally ended its mission after a century, smashed to pieces by the giant octopus's angry movements... and the fragments and half of the water from the Black Lake poured in.

“Recover as before!” “Recover as before!” “Recover as before!”

All the Slytherin students who were still able to react struggled in the water and cast spells on the windows. Multiple repair spells hit the broken glass, and they restored it to its original state according to their strong will, but the newly restored glass broke again under the strong water level difference.

"The repaired glass lacks protection!" Winster took a look at the glass window that was trying to repair itself, and was almost blinded by the crazy fluctuations of magic around it. He shouted: "It is not connected to Hogwarts! We have to leave quickly!"

A group of people took the lead in trying to open the door.

"The door can't be opened!" Mike dived into the water and grabbed the door with a group of people and pulled it a few times, then floated up and said.

The water from the Black Lake continued to pour into the lounge. Some of the dormitories had broken windows, and water rushed out of their dormitories. The scattered drains could not unblock the endless flow of water, no matter how hard they tried to pump.

It can only temporarily prevent the lounge from being filled.

The water flowed too fast and many students were caught off guard and choked on the water, then were swept under the water by the rapids.

Winster and others fished the choking students out of the water and used Transfiguration to piece together a simple hemispherical floating boat, allowing the younger students who couldn't swim to go up first.

"Get out of the way, let me do it!" a senior student yelled. It was very difficult to keep his body steady and utter silent spells with hand gestures under the fierce current.

"Wait, there's someone outside the door!" Winster noticed with his sharp eyes that after Mike and the others left the door, there was a slight shaking on the other side, as if someone was kicking the door. After three warning sounds that seemed to be caused by someone, the door fell into an abrupt silence.

"Back off!" Winster's heart tightened, "The people outside are about to blow the door open!"

There was a dull loud noise from under the water, the door of the lounge was blown open, and water poured out through the big hole in the wall.

Snape calmly held his wand in front of his face and spun around to avoid the rushing water. He turned sideways to avoid the water, while observing the scene from the side.

"Gulu, gulu, gulu..."

Several students near the door were swept out by the surging water, but were quickly stopped by Snape and moved to the side of the door.

They lay on the ground, coughing and retching violently.

"Professor Snape!" "Professor!" "Teacher." "Dean—" Seeing Snape, the Slytherin students who were still floating in the water felt like they had seen a savior.

For a moment, the Slytherins sitting on the floating boat seemed to trigger a chain reaction, crying out one after another.

Hearing the cries, he shouted loudly: "Be quiet, don't panic!"

Then he kicked the edge of the destroyed stone wall and bravely jumped into the calmer water flow.

But Snape's swimming skills were obviously not that good. As soon as he entered the water, he had negative distance contact with the lake.

Snape emerged from the water, wand in hand, soaking wet, and spit out a stream of water.

He waved his wand to enlarge some floating debris, and the students who were about to lose their balance in the water quickly scrambled to get on.

Except for a few shameless guys, most of the Slytherin students above the third year did not try to occupy the "ships" built for the younger students, but instead tried to find new "ships".

Magical instincts helped them a lot in their thinking, but they had to stabilize their bodies in the water while also making sure they stayed afloat and spoke clearly.

It is extremely difficult to do this in the rapids and undercurrents caused by the giant octopus. Unless one has mastered silent spells that are not limited to basic spells, one also has to worry about the standard trajectory of the underwater wand swinging.

Some students even ran out in their pajamas, without even their wands. Their dormitory doors had been washed down, and the things inside were floating in the water. If they were lucky enough, the next thing that would cut their skin might be a wand.

"Teacher..." Winston said softly.

"Do you need help?"

Winster coughed a few times while covering his mouth. His friends gathered around a wooden board. Jenny was smaller and had a harder time with the water. She had exhausted her strength early and was already in a semi-comatose state before being pushed onto the board they were clinging to.

Now Luo and Mike, who seemed to be the most comfortable, worked together to support Jenny's back, helping her get more breathing space on the water.

Another person, Colen, who was in a weaker state, also had difficulty breathing because the water reached his chest.

Winster's physical strength was about the same as the other two, but perhaps because he had learned to swim, although his face was pale and his hands and feet were a little wrinkled from being soaked, he was still able to hold on.

Winster poked Loial, motioning him to move aside slightly, and wordlessly cleared half of the wooden board for the embarrassed-looking Snape, indicating that he could use it to stabilize himself.

While he had the remaining strength, Winster was constantly using the levitation spell to pull over wooden boards that were not around, trying to piece them together into a larger whole.

Even though they risked choking on water every time they spoke.

The undercurrent is still increasing.

The giant octopus nailed to the bottom of the lake struggled violently, trying to break free from the mast that nailed it.

The tentacles rolled at the bottom of the lake, and every time they were raised, they brought a turbulent undercurrent. There were also floating objects... all kinds of debris that existed in the lounge, and these debris were dangerous in the undercurrent.

Snape sank in the water for a moment, then quickly paddled out using his hands and feet.

He glared at Winster fiercely, raised his wand, moved his lips, chanted a head-bubbling spell on himself, and dived again.

He swam to the broken window, braving the currents created by the giant octopus's tentacles at the bottom of the lake every time they rolled over.

He could see that around the giant octopus, the mermaids were holding harpoons in an attempt to appease it, but they were also tragically swept away along with their own people who were trying to help it pull out the "nails" or cut off its tentacles.

Snape quickly figured out a way to make himself heavy enough to walk steadily underwater. Although it was a little more difficult, he reached the breach faster. He used his authority as the dean and ordered the castle to be repaired.

The glass was quickly repaired, but unlike the previous repairs by the students, the magic flowing between the brick walls and tiles of Hogwarts grew into the glass, maintaining the strength of the window, while the color became slightly lighter.

The water level in the Slytherin Common Room quickly began to drop, and the floating debris gradually sank to the ground.

By the time the water was drained, all the Slytherins had been fished out by their own dean and other professors who arrived a step later. Everyone had lost their strength and lay wet on the corridor floor, with water plants growing out of nowhere, looking like water monsters that had just emerged from the water.

"The window in the Slytherin Common Room is broken. The Black Lake is pouring water in at a rate of 4 cubic meters per minute, and the door of the Common Room is draining water at a rate of 3 cubic meters per minute. How many seconds will it take for us to drown?"

"...What?" Luo Ou said with his eyes closed. He and Winster were lying on the ground with several people between them.

Winster also muttered sleepily with his eyes closed.

"... a classic math problem... I never thought in my life that I would actually encounter such a situation one day."

"Ha... now you see." Loial began to snore, his eyes half closed, half asleep.

Because Jenny was good at healing, she was healed by Madam Pomfrey who came over as soon as she got out of the water. Now she is keeping her spirits up and helping the professors deal with various situations.

While Madam Pomfrey was treating some of the more seriously injured students, she was also directing the students who came to help to send those lying on the ground to the medical wing.

Dumbledore and a group of professors rushed to the outside of the castle. Karkaroff jumped off the boat in a panic.

When he saw Dumbledore, his eyes lit up and he strode forward, waving his wand vigorously downwards. As he stretched out his hand enthusiastically, his robes dried completely.

"Oh... Dumbledore, I'm so glad to see you." He held Dumbledore's hand and shook it vigorously, his sincere expression not seeming fake.

"I'm afraid I hardly understand your feelings, Karkaroff."

Dumbledore's eyes flashed with anger, "Can you explain to me why you ran into the defenses of Hogwarts when you were just visiting?"

"If I hadn't released my protection in time, how many people do you think would know about this?"

Karkaroff raised his eyebrows. Behind him, the Durmstrang students were struggling to pull the half-destroyed boat out of the lake.

He seemed surprised by Dumbledore's words.

"Oh? Really? I thought the defenses of Hogwarts were too weak and our ship came in easily..."

Seeing that the professors behind Dumbledore were getting angry, Karkaroff explained:

"There was an accident on the way. In order to arrive in time, we took an air route when we crossed the North Sea." Karkaroff's expression was unnatural for a moment, but then he immediately raised his head and spoke sharply, with an exaggerated and complacent smile: "Isn't it time to arrive? I will never miss the Goblet of Fire!"

A boy with a hooked nose and a crew cut came over from the other side of the boat and called out to Karkaroff.

He reported in a low voice.

"Sir... the cabin and mast were completely destroyed during the forced landing... the rudder also had problems... the student at the helm was grabbed by a water monster when he fell into the water... he was thrown away along with the rudder... we are pulling the boat out of the water - but the creatures in the lake are very hostile, and several students have been captured, professor."

"Hmm? That sloppy boy? I knew I shouldn't have given him such an important task as steering the ship!" Karkaroff's smug expression disappeared in an instant. He frowned and cursed, then quickly said to the student in a dignified manner: "You did a good job, Viktor. Those beasts at the bottom of the lake are probably some of Hogwarts's protection measures... It seems to be very effective against the idiots among the students... I will communicate with Hogwarts as soon as possible to bring those students back."

"-Oh, by the way, Dumbledore, my dear old friend, my students will not be hurt?"

He said, calling kindly to Viktor to come closer so that they could have a look.

"Please believe that I share the same hope as you, Professor Karkaroff." Dumbledore said politely. He saw from the corner of his eye that the angry mermen had already come ashore and started fighting with the Durmstrang people.

The mermaid leader was walking towards them menacingly.

Madam Maxime glanced at the merman, yawned, and said with a lack of interest: "Since only people from Durmstrang have arrived, let's go back first. I have no interest in dealing with those aliens."
