Chapter 118: The Last Week Before the Top 3 Tournament
Harry shared this with Ron and Hermione after Transfiguration class.
While arguing about who would be the personal bodyguard that Moody mentioned, they went to the auditorium to prepare for dinner.
But the auditorium was bustling with activity, turning into a huge gathering and stage location.
George and Fred were pouring pumpkin juice attentively for everyone, while the other was singing and dancing beside them with an intoxicated look on his face, which led several students with uncontrollable dazed and intoxicated expressions to do difficult tap dances - some of them even had no idea what they had eaten - Harry suspected that they had just eaten George and Fred's canary biscuits - golden feathers grew on their faces, and they fluttered their wings and did backflips on the spot.
All the tables and chairs at the college seats were removed and replaced with a circle of four-color checkered picnic blankets that covered the entire auditorium. Only the front center area was not occupied, where the dancing students showed off their talents.
Hogwarts was like a festival, with laughter and joy everywhere.
Dumbledore was patting the beat for them with a smile on his face. The teachers were talking in low voices with uncontrollable smiles on their faces. Sufficient space was left in the auditorium. When a student picked up a glass bottle of pumpkin juice and was about to smash it on the head of others, the glass bottle suddenly became soft and slid down from the hands of those people like a liquid. It meandered and gathered in the middle of the stage of the auditorium, and was turned by Professor McGonagall into a huge glass pot of pumpkin juice with dozens of faucets on it.
Every student who tries to step over the dancing crowd must be a very skilled dancer - at least not one who steps on everyone's feet.
People kept "scrapping" the original glass pot, so that at the end of the meal, a brave man had to join the dancing people, overcome all obstacles, and help the people at the same table get the last pumpkin juice. Those who brought back the pumpkin juice would be treated like heroes by their tablemates.
The auditorium turned into a huge dance party, with people constantly coming in to join in this grand dance.
The house elves silently appeared and took away the students who were tired of dancing.
Hermione - this time it was Ron's turn to pull her. She kept wanting to join the dance, but her strong sense of shame kept pulling her from exposing her shortcomings.
In theory, the Imperius Curse can make those who cannot dance become very good at dancing. They can even perform all kinds of incredible movements just to complete orders.
But Hermione firmly remembered the professor's requirements, and her thinking and homework requirements had a huge conflict. The result was that she would take a wrong step from time to time, and the more she took wrong steps, the more times she made mistakes. Therefore, Hermione was almost the person who made the most obvious progress besides Harry.
There were the fewest people in the hall, and most of them, knowing they had been tricked, gave up dinner and chose to go back to their dormitories to find ways to fight back. The rest looked at Crabbe and Goyle dancing around the pumpkin bottle with despair on their faces, which was both eye-catching and unbearable to laugh at.
This dance lasted for two nights before Professor Moody forced them to cancel it. After realizing that the professors would immediately stop them from taking off their clothes, the students who found that dancing could help them lose weight and improve their body flexibility had given up fighting the spell and indulged in the idea of not having to act themselves, enjoying the fun of showing off their dancing skills.
He even picked out suitable partners from the people who danced in sync. The dance became more and more passionate and unrestrained - but Moody found that it had completely deviated from the original teaching plan. Not only that, it seemed that some students had set their sights on the magic props in Moody's hands.
Moody warned those who wanted to steal these magic props in class that the traps he set would leave a deep impression on anyone who wanted to steal.
However, he seemed to have a special interest in dealing with thieves, and even Professor McGonagall's request to remove all the offensive traps set at the door did not dampen his interest. Endless tricks appeared not only at the door of Moody's office, but also in the classroom.
There is a small swamp disguised as a carpet behind the classroom door, student test papers on the podium that will change the color of your skin if you touch them, and a sugar quill that will make your whole body swell if you touch it.
(The quill was placed on the edge of the podium, and it looked like it was about to melt. Moody certainly didn't get hurt, but a junior student couldn't resist the temptation and touched it, and his whole body swelled up... like a miniature Hagrid.)
Students kept getting hurt in their fights, and Professor McGonagall had to warn everyone not to touch those seemingly harmless things, especially the professor's belongings. But the unlucky ones before became another perfect example of Moody's advocacy of constant vigilance.
The notice board erected in the foyer was soon filled with notices of the arrival times of other schools for the Triwizard Tournament.
The prophecy and potion genius that caused a short-lived sensation in the outside world were soon suppressed by the Triwizard Tournament and the news that a group of potion masters announced their cooperation with the Persistence Potion Guild.
In fact, it was mainly the former that diverted the attention of the entire wizarding world. Newspapers in various countries were announcing the upcoming Triwizard Tournament. The affairs of the potion master were still too far away from ordinary wizards. It was only discovered that a new cheap potion had entered the market. Because of its convoluted name, it was called the anti-wolf potion. It was particularly popular in wizard communities where werewolves appeared. Young wizards in Hogwarts also began to receive potions sent by their parents and asked them to drink them.
Besides, the best news for Winster is that those burning eyes are decreasing. There are not so many twists and turns in Hogwarts. Everyone is just on a whim. The prophecy is just a casual talk after dinner, and the new genius is just their classmate.
Maybe he has a reputation for being exceptionally powerful, treats people with kindness, and doesn't show any trace of discrimination from the Slytherins. But how can he be compared with the savior who defeated the Dark Lord?
In addition to the reporters who continued to send letters wanting to interview him - the number of letters they sent was also decreasing - there were also potion masters who wrote to ask about his research ideas.
Winster was finally able to give up the life of hiding under the invisibility spell most of the time, and learned to calmly treat those enthusiastic people. The news of the ghost of a girl who looked like a living person also spread in the medical wing -
"It may have been of Veela descent when it was alive," said a student who inexplicably appeared on the top of Gryffindor Tower with a burnt hem. "It looks like a living person, but it doesn't have the face of anyone in our school. It appears and disappears from time to time. It must have left me here. I have no idea what happened. I can only see it in the first hour after sunrise and after sunset."
……
Hermione laughed loudly in the common room: "Come on, where did the ghost who looks like a living person come from in the Hospital Wing? That's someone who went there to help during their break. Everyone who has been to the Hospital Wing knows her - some people get angry and blame her for having Veela blood after their pursuit fails." She sneered.
"Maybe there really is a ghost." Ron couldn't help but disagree with her, "No one has ever seen this girl. Only the students who stayed overnight in the hospital wing vaguely discovered her traces."
"A beautiful ghost wandering around in the morning and at night..." Ron imagined the description of the junior student with burnt clothes. "Maybe it's a new ghost in Hogwarts. Maybe Nick and the others will know."
Hermione said with disgust, "How come I didn't know Jenny was the new ghost at Hogwarts."
"That's Jenny?! Koch?" Ron said in surprise, "Is she so beautiful? She looks like a Veela..."
"Haven't you seen them? There are six of them, and Winster often stays with them. Jenny is very good at treating wounds."
Ron argued unconvincedly: "How can I see her when she is wearing a hood? She is so skinny and small, how can she be prettier than a Veela?"
Hermione snorted disdainfully, "Why, you have an idea, do you want me to introduce you two to each other?"
"What nonsense? I'm just curious..."
"It was Lavender's confession to you that boosted your masculine confidence?... I said that woman was a liar, big-breasted and brainless liar. You weren't just attracted to her figure, were you?" Hermione looked Ron up and down suspiciously.
"! What are you talking about Hermione? I haven't promised her yet..."
Ron said angrily, "You're just saying this because you think I won't receive confessions from girls - you're jealous that I'm the first one among the three of us to be pursued - which means I'm the most popular one!"
Hermione, who was having trouble saying some things, let out a "Huh?" and couldn't help but choke back, "Who said you were the first? Doesn't your sister like Harry? Don't tell me you didn't see that."
Ron's face quickly turned red and he muttered, "That's not love!... She's still young, she'll change her mind when she grows up."
Harry, who was daydreaming, was dragged into this with an innocent look on his face.
"Uh... I have someone I like..." He quickly changed the subject, "Look over there, are there things wrong with George and Fred recently?"
"What's wrong?" Ron said uninterestedly, "They've been planning to steal Professor Moody recently. It would be strange if they weren't sneaky."
Hermione's eyebrows suddenly raised, "What did you say, Ron? Are they trying to steal the dark magic props? I want to go and ask!" Hermione stood up from her chair and wanted to question him angrily.
Ron quickly pulled her back, "What are you doing?"
Hermione said stubbornly, "I'm going to ask if they're planning on stealing those dangerous things!"
"And then, tell Professor McGonagall? Come on, they and Professor Moody are enjoying it, who cares about them?"
Harry couldn't help but interrupt, "But they don't look upset. They seem to be saying something like 'let him return the money', 'props' or something like that..."
Ron eavesdropped for a while and could only connect the props to Moody's dark magic props.
His expression was solemn, and he deliberately sat next to the twins, wanting to know what they were doing.
But as soon as he approached, George and Fred immediately put away all the stationery and pens on the table, and even wrapped up their quills, as if they were afraid that Ron would take their things.
"What are you doing here?" Fred moved his butt and asked as if he was ready to leave at any time.
"What's your attitude?" Ron was annoyed when he saw their fierce reaction. "I'm your brother. What's wrong with wanting to see what you are doing? Can't I even sit next to you?"
"Of course—no," said Fred.
"What—?" cried Ron.
"Brothers have privacy, too, Ronnie," George said.
"I just want to know what you are doing - who owes you money and wants you to threaten him with black magic items!"
Ron said angrily, "I can't watch you two go the wrong way."
"Ha! He thinks the two of us are threatening? Cute little Ronnie." Fred taunted.
"You were eavesdropping on other people's conversation...Mom would definitely spank you if she heard it, poor little Ronnie--" George said with sympathy.
"Don't change the subject -" Ron asked seriously, "you two are not really planning to do this?"
"You think too much, little Ronnie, these are two different things." George said with pretended ease.
"So someone really owes you money? What about the props? Dark magic props?" Ron asked sharply.
"The props are new products we came up with ourselves. We originally thought that Professor Moody's stuff might give us some new inspiration. But we've only been messing around with his door so far and haven't even entered his office." Fred said with his hands folded.
"But he taught us a lot of new tricks!" George said, "We want to return the favor."
"In the end, the things given to him were not seen by him, but taken by other students instead." Fred complained, "The effect was so good that the unfortunate guy is still lying in the hospital wing."
Ron moved his hips forward. "You mean the sugar quill?" He coughed. "Let me see!"
He looked at the quill that George was holding in his hand like a treasure and asked, "Is this your new invention? I heard that the man ate it. Can I touch it?"
"No -" George refused, "It's not perfect and too dangerous - we were going to ask Professor Moody to take a look - he has a lot of experience."
“We left a note explaining the situation,” Fred added, “but it may have been accidentally dropped during the process.”
"What about the money owed? Did you owe it or did someone owe you money?"
"It's none of your business, Ron," George warned. "If you go and tell Mum to take our things away, I can't guarantee that I won't turn your schoolbag into a spider!"
Fred pulled out his wand and threatened him.
"So you went to steal the professor's tools?" Ron demanded. "You must explain. That's dark magic!"
George said reluctantly, "We want to change to a prop that makes people swollen--"
"But it can't be helped," said Fred, gloomily. "The effect he gave was wonderful—the colour—the hue!"
He made a frustrated sound, "We don't have that much money to find a better formula."
"Someone did us a favor and saved us a lot of costs." George continued helplessly, "But... for some reasons, we don't want to accept it."
"We were originally going to exchange it for a new item, so that it would be nothing, but no, there is nothing more interesting than that formula. Then we found the professor's prop that makes people dance non-stop - if we can replicate it in a different way -"
"It will definitely be a good prank prop, he might like it." George spread his hands helplessly, "But Professor Moody won't let us study it. He won't even let us in, saying that our evil ideas haven't even come into the door yet, and the spyglass has made a lot of noise."
"We can only take some of our previous inventions and ask him if he is willing to exchange them. This way, no one will owe anyone anything."
