HP: For a better world
Chapter 111 Level 2 Medal and New Prophecy
hall.
Crouch, who was in charge of security at the Ministry of Magic, came again. It was probably a routine handover. He sat down in the professor's chair. Professor Moody was talking to him in a low voice with his head down.
They seemed to be chatting about today's weather and some recent news.
Dumbledore was also at school today. He was drinking a bowl of oatmeal porridge from an unknown country and recommended that Crouch try the breakfast of a small country whose name he had never heard of. It sounded a bit like Cornish pasty, or the taste of fried dumplings that he had not seen for a long time.
Winster looked away with difficulty, lowered his eyes to stare at the grilled sausages and the runny eggs with egg liquid always flowing out, and took some toast and grilled tomatoes with disgust.
He was just about to finish his three hundredth round of battle with the traditional English breakfast when he heard the door of the auditorium slam open.
Snape strode in with a smug look on his face, timing the time when breakfast was over. He glanced sharply at the student who blurted out the unlucky word, then bent down and respectfully invited the person behind him to enter Hogwarts.
It was a little old lady, followed by a line of people carrying all kinds of things.
She had a kind face, a stern face and a teacher's dignity. Her face was full of wrinkles and her body was a little hunched, which showed that she was very old. Even Dumbledore, who was over a hundred years old, was not hunchbacked yet.
But this old lady had reached the age when humans become deficient in calcium and their height decreases as a result of aging.
"Professor Marchbank?" Dumbledore seemed very surprised. He immediately walked down from the teacher's seat to greet him. "What brings you here?"
This is a respectable lady who has held the position of Wizarding Examination Authority for over a hundred years and has devoted almost her entire life to the magical education industry.
For a hundred years, almost every class of students had been invigilated by this lady, including Dumbledore, who was still a young boy when he took the exam.
Dumbledore bowed his head respectfully and kissed the ring on the old lady's hand, then took Snape's place and led the lady forward.
"I have been commissioned by the Wizengamot to present the Order of Merlin, Second Class, to a wizard who has made outstanding contributions to the wizarding world."
The old lady followed him with a smile, "I have already sent a message to Hogwarts in advance, maybe you haven't seen it, Albus." Her voice was so loud that the whole hall exclaimed excitedly and whispered to each other: "You have been paying attention to the major events in the wizarding world recently, with banquets and meetings everywhere. It is understandable that you haven't received some news from the school." She said jokingly: "Minerva knew I was coming. It seems that you came back too late. Haven't you read the accumulated documents yet?"
Dumbledore coughed awkwardly, "I just got back this morning... You know, when there are more countries to communicate with, it's easy for the Ministry of Magic to have disputes."
Professor McGonagall came hurriedly downstairs, holding a stack of papers, and she exclaimed, "Professor Marchbank!"
She hurriedly stuffed the document into the hands of the wizard following Professor Marchbank and exchanged a kiss on the cheek with Professor Marchbank.
The old lady accepted it with a smile, her eyes full of kindness.
"I'm sorry I didn't come to greet you, Professor Marchbank. I'm still dealing with the recent extra documents and haven't notified the students yet. I thought you would arrive this afternoon." Professor McGonagall said shyly.
Professor Marchbank kindly took her hand and patted it. "Don't worry, we are here early. There are still some procedures that you need to confirm. This is a good thing to be happy about. The Wizengamot has just confirmed the reliability of this news. A rising star has appeared in the wizarding world. They have entrusted me to come and award this gentleman or lady with an honor. By the way, I will see what kind of environment can always produce outstanding talents one after another."
"Hogwarts will always be the best magic school." Professor McGonagall praised proudly.
Professor Marchbank smiled happily and said, "Of course, let me see which young gentleman has won the Order of Merlin, Second Class this time? I can't wait to see this wizard.
Um...the name is——"
-
As soon as the strange old lady loudly said that she came here to be awarded the Order of Merlin, the noise in the auditorium could no longer be suppressed.
The students were talking to each other excitedly, throwing their breakfast aside, and speculating enthusiastically which professor or student would receive this honor. They speculated about the new Professor Moody, Dumbledore
Luo Ou's eyes sparkled as he came over to gossip. "Who are you talking about, Winston? Professor Moody? He fought bravely against those dark wizards, and it's reasonable for him to get an Order of Merlin after sacrificing so much!"
Winster suddenly felt his breathing become heavy and his cheeks became hot. He remembered the surprise Lucius had mentioned before sending him to the train.
He answered hoarsely, "Then he should have gotten this when he retired."
Luo Ou was puzzled for a moment: "What's wrong with your voice? Do you have a cold..."
As the students near the visitor held their breath and concentrated, the surroundings became quiet. This silence gradually spread to the entire auditorium, and everyone was listening to the old lady's voice with bated breath.
"Mr. Winster White!"
Winster's ears buzzed and his head felt dizzy. He felt like he was dreaming and his brain was so slow that he didn't react.
Professor Marchbank's beautiful, kind voice was still ringing.
"…Thanks to his invention of the Immobilization Potion for its contribution to the prevention and treatment of Lycanthropy! The Potions Association has made clear the results of the experiment. His potion can prevent transformation after being bitten by a werewolf, and can provide temporary treatment after being bitten!"
Professor Marchbank cleared his throat and announced loudly, "In order to thank him for his contribution to the wizarding world, the Wizengamot unanimously decided to award him the Order of Merlin, Second Class, as a commendation!"
……
"Oh, Albus." Professor Marchbank looked at Dumbledore with a smile, "Can you clear a place for us? Thank you, dear."
Dumbledore raised his hand. "My pleasure, ma'am."
He said, motioning for the students to move aside, directing the tables and the food residue on them to float up to the sides of the hall. A little later, the messy fallen objects and footprints in the middle of the hall were all cleared. He picked up the carpet held by one of the wizards who followed him, and slowly spread it on the ground along the movement of his wand.
The already bright dome of the auditorium was also fine-tuned, with clusters of conjured flowers hung on it. The emblems of the four colleges were pulled down, and flags guarded the center of the auditorium.
It is more solemn than the entrance ceremony for freshmen.
Professor Marchbank stood at the end of the red carpet, waving with a smile on his face: "Mr. White, come here, kid! Let me see which gentleman it is?"
Luo Ou swallowed his saliva and lowered his voice excitedly: "Go, White! She's calling you!"
Winster's head began to feel dizzy. He tried to calm his overly excited heart and asked in a trembling voice: "Is it really me? Did I hear it wrong? Hey... I mean, I'm only in the fourth grade. Even in my most beautiful dreams, there is no such thing-"
"You're so happy, brother." Luo Ou said with a smile, "How about I try to dream this dream? You better hurry up!"
He and Carl laughed and gave a light push, and following the crowd's line of sight, Winster fell off the edge of the auditorium and into the center.
Should I change into a robe? Winster thought uneasily, nervously pulling at his tight academic robe. He regretted not changing into something more formal to greet his teacher today - so that now he could only be seen wearing a slightly worn academic robe to receive the award.
——He didn't even think about why he had to change his clothes to welcome Snape who was just returning to school. He was just too nervous to accept the medal and began to regret every flaw in himself.
His hair was a little messy, his tie seemed a little crooked, and his clothes had frayed edges... Winster finally understood why Draco paid so much attention to his appearance. Now he only regretted that he was still living too casually.
"Good boy, come here quickly." Professor Marchbank waved.
Professor McGonagall hurried over, put her hand on Winster's shoulder and told him not to be nervous.
He looked up and saw Snape standing behind a group of professors, raising his eyebrows at him. His eyebrows seemed to be mocking Winston for getting nervous so easily.
Winster took a deep breath, suppressed the blush on his face, put on that sweet smile that he showed to his elders again, walked quickly to Professor Marchbank and bent down.
It was a gold medal with a purple ribbon. Although those upper-class people favored by the Ministry of Magic could always get such a medal, and the weight of the Order of Merlin was reduced by those who awarded it by mistake, donated money to the Ministry of Magic, and awarded it to themselves, the Order of Merlin was still one of the highest honors in the wizarding world, even though it was only a second-level purple ribbon medal.
"Because of your potion," Professor Marchbanks said in a low voice, while picking up the medal from the tray beside him and putting it around Winster's neck. Winster even lowered his head to accept the honor. "Everyone thinks that the influence is not enough. If the potion is fully rolled out throughout the wizarding world, this medal will be changed to a first-level one. I heard about the news that you have established an association to make the formula public. This is good. It will help the potion spread throughout the wizarding world. Mr. White, we will remember your contribution in our hearts."
Winster held his breath with excitement until the medal was hung intact on his chest. Then he spoke, vividly using the way other professors addressed him, "Thank you, Professor Marchbank." He raised his head slightly, his eyes revealing admiration for the old man.
"I hope you keep working hard, kid," said Professor Marchbank.
"Thank you, Professor Marchbank, I will." Winster stood up, feeling relieved. He smiled and looked around to show his medals - especially Professor Snape, who winked at him.
Snape smiled faintly and clapped gently in line with the crowd.
His eyes moved, indicating that Winster should remember to thank the professors at school.
"In fact, all my achievements are thanks to Professor Snape. Without him, I would still be stuck at the same learning progress as other students. He was the first to discover my talent..."
Winster suppressed his excitement and began to give his acceptance speech.
At this time, Professor Trelawney, who was always late, interrupted him. She still had the same trance-like tone as always, making her presence felt.
"Oh my, what are you doing?" She looked at the excited faces, the well-decorated auditorium, the professors smiling and applauding, and she was the only one missing who was always out of tune. She stared at everything through her bottle-sized glasses. "I learned from the crystal ball that there is a major event to be held today - am I late?"
Dumbledore looked around and saw that everyone else was caught up in the celebration. "No," he said, "You've come just in time, Professor Trelawney."
He politely replied: "The award ceremony has just ended. You just happened to catch up with the winner's speech. No, you are not late."
Professor McGonagall sniffed imperceptibly and looked away politely.
Trelawney seemed to have not heard Dumbledore's subtle sarcasm at all, and was unaware of the disgust of the people around her. She took small steps closer and said, "I saw in the crystal ball that today will be a critical moment that will affect the future of the entire wizarding world... I was still trying to figure out the guidance of fate, and the third eye urged me to come and witness it."
She moved a little closer and softened her voice, calling out tenderly, "Oh, let me see, I told you you would achieve amazing things - oh!" She saw Winston White slowly turning around and gasped.
"Mr. Winster White..." She widened her eyes and took a step back in disbelief, as if she was greatly frightened. She pressed her hands on her chest, and her poor chest struggled hard for a few times. Her whole body went limp and she slowly fell to the ground.
"...Uh, have Trelawney's descendants always been like this? Albus." Professor Marchbank asked Dumbledore in a low voice, looking suspiciously at Dumbledore who had chosen Sybill Trelawney as the professor of Divination.
Dumbledore was embarrassed for a moment. "Excuse me, Griselda, our Divination professor may need some medical assistance. You know, the prophets are quite strange..."
Marchbank made a sound of understanding.
Dumbledore walked over, squatted down and checked Trelawney, whose eyes were rolled back and who kept making huh sounds.
"It may be some kind of acute illness," said Dumbledore, and was about to wave his wand: "I will send her to the hospital wing immediately."
Trelawney suddenly grabbed Dumbledore's hand and sat up, looking blankly in the direction of Winston with her eyes rolled back.
Dumbledore was a little surprised: "Are you okay, Sybil?"
Trelawney's voice suddenly changed, and she uttered a hoarse song from her throat:
"The lion drank the poison and his head fell to the ground."
The crows and the swans cried together--
Lightning...brings a brief dawn."
The hoarse voice echoed in the auditorium, causing a wave of puzzled questions.
(“What is she talking about?” some students whispered, “Is it a prophecy?” “I don’t know…”)
Trelawney raised her voice sharply.
"The Great One shall appear in flames! Declaring... the Dark Lord's deepest secrets."
Snape's face suddenly changed and he couldn't help but take a step forward, but Dumbledore, who suddenly became serious, looked back at him.
He raised his hand with a stern face to signal for silence.
I don't know what happened, but the students quieted down after the professor's scolding.
Harry stood in the crowd with his eyes widened in surprise. He felt familiar.
Trelawney stared at Winston with her white eyes, which made him feel cold.
"The crow saw the Black King taking the White King away,
So he left the stone for the snake.
The snake said:
Trelawney cried, and it was as if a snake were hissing when she spoke:
"I will help you to be reborn three times,
Each time stronger than before
But you...will inherit my blood."
Her expression was a mixture of crying and laughing, and her hoarse voice gradually became weaker:
"Destiny uses me to convey the message to the world...
A third rebirth would give him the power the Dark Lord craves most.
The winner between night and dawn will bring the future they most desire——"
After a long silence, she suddenly shuddered, woke up confusedly and looked at Dumbledore who was so close to her.
"I'm fine, Professor Dumbledore, hiccup." She hiccupped and took a deep breath before asking in confusion, "Why are you so close to me?"
She looked down and saw that she had grabbed Dumbledore's hand, which was blue. She was startled and quickly let go, supporting herself with her hands and crawling back a few steps.
The professors all looked at her with guarded eyes and said nothing.
"...You just fainted, Professor." Winster froze in place, his mind turning over countless times in an instant, waking up from his excitement and subconsciously came to the rescue.
"You just hiccuped and knocked yourself out, Sybil—" Snape took over with a sullen face.
"Hiccups..." Trelawney said in surprise.
"Yes, hiccups," Dumbledore said calmly, raising his hand to lift the ear-closing spell that enveloped the area. "You are late, Sybil, and you have interrupted Mr. White's award ceremony. Hurry up and get up. I will take you to see Poppy."
He used his hand that was not bruised purple to reach out and helped Trelawney up.
"Ahem, I'm so sorry, Mr. White." Trelawney stood up dazedly and said apologetically, rubbing her throat suspiciously with her hand and coughing twice. "If you want, I'm happy to make another prediction for you," she said belatedly, "about your death..."
Winster interrupted her with a stern face: "No, thank you. I mean... I don't want to hear any prophecies for the time being. Thank you for your kindness, 'Professor'."
He turned around, having completely forgotten his previous excitement, as well as the words of thanks he had just thought of in excitement. He could only recite the acceptance speech he had seen when writing an essay in his previous life, and read it out in a plain and dry manner.
Fortunately, I have already given up this course. When Winster saw the professors around him clapping absent-mindedly and perfunctorily, he couldn't help but wonder in annoyance, did she deliberately interrupt my award ceremony?
When the hall was restored to its original state, Professor McGonagall held him down and comforted him again and again, but the disappearance of Snape still made Winston harbor resentment towards Trelawney.
