Bright Sword: This unit is really ruthless

Chapter 486: Trying to save a dying horse

Zhang Ling and Lao Hu looked at each other, then walked into the passage.

The passage was pitch black, and Zhang Ling and Lao Hu groped their way forward. After about ten minutes, they finally arrived at a basement.

There were several oil lamps lit in the basement, and in the dim light, several figures could be seen sitting around the table.

"Who are you?" asked a middle-aged man.

"We are here to deliver intelligence." Zhang Ling said, "We have important intelligence about Unit 731."

The middle-aged man and the others looked at each other with surprise in their eyes.

"What information?"

Zhang Ling handed over the folder in his hand. "This is the experimental record of Unit 731. It records the various human experiments they conducted."

The middle-aged man took the folder and flipped through it. His expression became more and more ugly, and finally he slammed the table, "These beasts!"

Others also gathered around to check the contents of the folder. There was an uproar in the basement.

"We must make this evidence public!" said a young man excitedly.

"Yes! Let the whole world know about the crimes of Unit 731!" another young man echoed.

Zhang Ling looked at these indignant young people, and his heart was filled with hope. He knew that he had found like-minded comrades.

"Everyone," Zhang Ling said, "we must develop a detailed plan to deliver this evidence safely."

Everyone nodded in agreement.

At this moment, the door of the basement was suddenly opened, and a group of island soldiers rushed in...

The fishy-smelling sewage hit Zhang Ling and Xiao Hu's legs. The two of them ran along the drainage ditch, with the sewage splashing on their faces, mixed with sweat, and it was salty and smelly.

"Damn it, the Japanese really know how to play. This basement is like a maze!" Old Hu cursed while panting.

Zhang Ling's face was gloomy and he didn't say anything. Unit 731, biological weapons, superpower potion... these words were churning in his mind, making him feel uneasy.

Finally, they saw the exit, a dim light coming in from the end of the gutter.

"Hurry! Get out!" Zhang Ling growled and rushed out first.

The two climbed out of the drainage ditch and found themselves in a wilderness. Night fell on the land and there was silence all around except for the occasional barking of dogs in the distance.

"Where are we?" Lao Hu looked around, confused.

Zhang Ling identified the direction and said, "It should be the outskirts of the city."

"This is a damn place. There's not even a ghost in sight. How can we go back?" Lao Hu complained.

Zhang Ling ignored him. His mind was full of what the islander said. Superpower potion... does it really exist? If it does exist, what kind of power would it be?

"Old Hu," Zhang Ling suddenly said, "Do you want to have super powers?"

Lao Hu was stunned. "Superpowers? You mean... like in American comics?"

Zhang Ling nodded, "Maybe."

Lao Hu's eyes lit up. "If there really is such a thing, I'll be the first to sign up! Then let's see who dares to bully me!"

Zhang Ling smiled and said, "Don't be too happy yet. The islander said that this potion has side effects and can turn people into monsters."

Lao Hu's expression changed. "Monster? What kind of monster?"

Zhang Ling shook his head. "I don't know, but since he said that, it must not be a good thing."

Lao Hu was silent for a moment, then said, "Who cares! I'm not afraid of death, so why would I be afraid of turning into a monster? Besides, if I could really have superpowers, it would be worth it even if I turned into a monster!"

Zhang Ling looked at him, a complicated look flashing in his eyes. "Do you really think so?"

"Of course!" Lao Hu patted his chest, "I've lived long enough! If I could experience super powers, it would be worth it even if I died!"

Zhang Ling took a deep breath. He knew that what Lao Hu said was true. In this chaotic world, living is more difficult than anything else. Many people are willing to do anything to survive.

"Okay," Zhang Ling finally said, "Then let's go back and find the potion!"

Lao Hu jumped up excitedly, "Okay! It's settled! Let's go back and beat the fucking Japs!"

The two discussed and decided to find a place to rest and go back when it was daybreak. They found an abandoned temple nearby and settled down temporarily.

The dilapidated temple was cold and damp, with spider webs and rat droppings everywhere. Old Hu wrinkled his nose in disdain, "This damn place is more disgusting than a sewer!"

Zhang Ling ignored him, found a slightly cleaner place to sit down, and began to think about his next plan.

He had to find out the details of the drug and what the side effects were. Also, how many people were there in Unit 731 and what was their defense strength? These were all issues he needed to consider.

"Old Hu," Zhang Ling suddenly asked, "Can you shoot?"

Lao Hu was stunned. "Yes! I used to be a soldier in the National Army. My marksmanship is very accurate!"

A gleam of light flashed in Zhang Ling's eyes, "That's good."

He pulled out a Browning pistol from his pocket and handed it to Lao Hu, "Take this gun."

Lao Hu took the pistol and checked the magazine skillfully. "Wow! This is a good thing! Where did you get it from?"

Zhang Ling did not answer, but just said: "Please keep this gun safe, it may come in handy at a critical moment."

Lao Hu chuckled, "Don't worry! I will definitely make good use of it!"

It was late at night, and the temple was silent. Zhang Ling leaned against the wall, closed his eyes, and the face of the islander, as well as the "superpower potion" and "monster" he mentioned, kept appearing in his mind.

He didn't know what was waiting for him, but he knew that he had no way out.

Suddenly, Zhang Ling opened his eyes abruptly, and he felt something strange. A faint fragrance drifted in from outside the ruined temple. This fragrance... was very familiar, yet very strange...

He slowly stood up, walked to the door and looked out.

In the dim moonlight, he saw a figure standing outside the ruined temple. That figure...was graceful and charming...

Zhang Ling's heart skipped a beat. He recognized the figure...

"It's you?!"

The dirty water splashed against their calves, and the fishy smell mixed with the smell of disinfectant rushed straight to their heads. Zhang Ling leaned against the wall, panting violently, his stomach churning. Old Hu was not much better, bending over, one hand on his knees, the other covering his mouth, as if he was about to vomit in the next second.

"Damn, this kid is such a pervert!" Old Hu recovered and stood up cursing, "Human experiments, super power potions... He dares to do anything!"

Zhang Ling didn't say anything. He was still digesting the information he had just heard. Unit 731, biological weapons, superpower potions... these words were like a mess, tangled in his mind. He was reborn to take revenge, to make those island devils who bullied him and killed his family pay with blood! Now, the opportunity seemed to be in front of him.

"Old Hu," Zhang Ling raised his head, a dangerous light flashing in his eyes, "We have to go back!"

Lao Hu was stunned. "Go back? Go back to that damn place? Are you crazy?"

"I'm not crazy," Zhang Ling said firmly, "I want to find out what that potion is. If it can really give people superpowers, then..." He paused, a hint of ruthlessness flashed in his eyes, "Then we can use it to deal with the Japanese devils!"

Looking at Zhang Ling's eyes, Lao Hu knew that he had made up his mind. He sighed and patted Zhang Ling on the shoulder, "Okay, I'll go crazy with you! But you have to plan carefully this time, and you can't be so reckless like before."

The two returned to their residence, simply bandaged their wounds, and then began to discuss countermeasures.

"We need to first find out the specific situation of Unit 731," Zhang Ling said, "such as their defense deployment, personnel allocation, and the research progress of the super power potion."

"What should we do?" Lao Hu scratched his head, "We can't get into that damn place again."

Zhang Ling pondered for a moment and said, "I remember that islander said they would deliver the experimental materials at a fixed time. We can track their transport vehicles and find the base of Unit 731."

"That's a good idea!" Lao Hu's eyes lit up, "Then we can..." He made a gesture of wiping his neck, "Hehe..."

In the next few days, Zhang Ling and Lao Hu hid in the dark and observed the movements of the islanders. They found that every three days, a military truck would drive out of the city and drive along a remote road to the suburbs.

"That's it!" Zhang Ling pointed at the truck going away and said to Lao Hu, "Follow us!"

The two men rode stolen bicycles and followed the truck from a distance. The truck bumped along the way and drove deep into the mountains. Finally, it stopped in a hidden valley.

The valley was heavily guarded, with armed island soldiers everywhere. Zhang Ling and Lao Hu hid in the woods, carefully observing the situation inside.

"My goodness, these little devils really spent a lot of money!" Lao Hu whispered, "How many people are there?"

Zhang Ling did not speak. He was concentrating on observing the situation in the valley. He found that there was a large building in the center of the valley, and there were several small buildings around it. According to the description of the islander, that should be the biological and chemical weapons research base of Unit 731.

"Old Hu," Zhang Ling pointed at the building in the middle of the valley and said, "Do you see that building? That's our target."

"But how can we get in with so many devils?" Lao Hu was a little worried.

Zhang Ling smiled and said, "Don't forget, I've been reborn. I know some things that the devils don't know."

He pointed to a grove of trees at the back of the valley and said, "There is a secret passage there that leads directly to the basement of that building."

When Lao Hu heard this, he immediately became alert, "Is this true? Are you kidding me?"

"When have I ever lied to you?" Zhang Ling rolled his eyes at him, "Follow me!"

The two quietly went around to the back of the valley and found the secret passage that Zhang Ling mentioned. The entrance to the passage was blocked by dense branches and could not be found without careful observation.

The two entered the passage and walked along the narrow passage. The passage was dark and damp, and the air was filled with a musty smell.

After walking for about half an hour, a ray of light appeared in front of them. The two quickened their pace and came to the end of the passage.

In front of them was an iron door, which was covered with rust and it was obvious that no one had opened it for a long time.

"This is the door to the basement," Zhang Ling said, "but it's locked."

"Hehe," Lao Hu grinned, "This won't be a problem for me!"

He pulled a master key from his pocket and began to fiddle with the door lock.

With a "click", the door lock was opened.

The two men pushed open the iron door and walked in.

What appeared before them was a dim basement. Various experimental equipment were placed in the basement, and the air was filled with a pungent smell of medicine.

Suddenly, a faint groaning sound came from deep in the basement.

The two looked at each other, with a hint of doubt in their eyes.

"What's that sound?" Lao Hu asked in a low voice.
