Chapter 577: The Silver Winged Magician (22)

Inside the cabin, raindrops pounded against the windows like crazy, the sound so loud it made people panic. Kojima Genta looked out the window and couldn't help but mutter, "This rain is so crazy, it's pouring like a bucket." Yoshida Ayumi, hearing this, looked worried and asked nervously, "The wind is so strong! Is the plane going to fall? Ah!" Her exclamation instantly made the atmosphere in the cabin tense.

At that moment, in the cockpit, Conan stared straight ahead and said in a steady voice, "We've got the airport in sight." A response came from the control tower: "They're coming." The tower commander, Shimaoka, immediately issued an order: "Attention flight, adjust wings to one. Then to five, then to ten." Kidd responded calmly: "Lower the landing gear, and adjust wings to twenty."

Inside the cabin, Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya excitedly said, "We're about to land." But just as he finished speaking, an extremely strong light suddenly shot out, stinging his eyes. Kidd frowned and asked in confusion, "What's going on?" Conan quickly determined and said, "That's lightning. The plane was struck by lightning." Then, Conan reported through the communication equipment, "This is Flight 865. The lightning was so strong that the picture was completely wiped out."

Tower controller Shimaoka hurriedly said, "Calm down. Turn that white button next to the dashboard." Conan did as he was told. Kidd said, "The light's on." Conan said anxiously, "Not yet. The autopilot light hasn't come on yet." Shimaoka's voice became more urgent. "What did you say? Stop the landing immediately. Pull up the control stick with all your might. Very good, retract the landing gear." Conan replied, "It's retracted."

However, the situation took a turn for the worse. Shimaoka shouted anxiously, "Oh no! The plane is being carried away by the wind. Turn right immediately! Turn right quickly." The tower staff also shouted, "If we keep going like this, we'll hit the logistics room. Pull the nose of the plane up quickly." Shimaoka's voice was filled with despair: "Oh no!"

The plane flew past the logistics room and barely managed to pull its nose up, but then one of its engines suddenly fell off, igniting a raging fire at the airport. From the cockpit, Conan anxiously asked, "How's the airport? Is the control tower okay?" The control tower responded, "How's the flight? Can you hear it?" Conan quickly said, "Yes, I can hear it. Is the damage serious?" The control tower staff replied, "No one in the control tower was injured. I'm afraid the runway won't be usable right away. What about you?" Kidd said helplessly, "The second engine has fallen off."

Shimaoka calmly reassured him, "It's okay. Landing with the remaining three engines will be enough, but be careful about balance." Kidd confidently stated, "The plane is stable right now. I've already adjusted the rudder to the throttle." Shimaoka continued, "Very good. What's the current altitude and speed?" "3000 feet, 200 knots." Shimaoka issued another command: "Adjust the wings to five and return to level flight. Turn the nose to 180 degrees and climb to 4500 feet." Kidd responded simply, "Roger that." He then asked, "And then we need to circle and wait for landing?" Shimaoka affirmed, "Yes. As long as the autopilot can be restored and the runway is cleared, the plane should be able to land automatically again."

On the airport runway, firefighters were so anxious that they were jumping up and down, shouting, "Please, didn't I tell you that there aren't enough fire trucks? Put out the fire on the runway!"
