The real daughter is really not a human being

Chapter 33 Scarier than a haunted house

Even though Sun was prepared for the extremely high prices in the capital, she was still shocked by the prices.

Staying in a street inn for one night costs dozens of coins! Not to mention renting a house!

Sun took Yaoguang aside to ask around, and found out that the rent was several hundred coins a month, and it was not a monthly rent, but a long-term lease!

Sun counted the less than ten taels of silver in her pocket, which was what was left after she sold her land and spent all her expenses.

Sun calculated silently in her heart that living in the capital city would not only require a room, but also food, drink, defecation and urination, and even money to find someone to look for her grandson! How could this money be enough?

Thinking of this, Sun reluctantly took out a few copper coins from her bosom and handed them to the eloquent old woman in front of her.

She asked, "Please recommend a cheaper house for me. It doesn't matter if it's a little run-down, as long as it's big enough for us, my grandma and I, to live in."

The old woman weighed the copper coins in her hand. Although she did not earn any reward, at least she had a few cents!

But after all she had spent a lot of time talking, a few cents was still too little!

The old woman rolled her eyes with ill intent and said, "You've finally asked the right person if you want to ask about a shabby house. If there really is a shabby yard, it's free!"

When Sun heard this, her eyes suddenly lit up.

"I'll tell you first. It's up to you whether you want to live there or not. The house is haunted. Many people died there in the past few years. Even beggars don't dare to live there..."

Sun didn't care at all about the death of others.

She had seen this kind of thing on the road with her own eyes. As for ghosts, Sun believed that the ancestors of the Qiao family would bless her.

So the old woman led the two of them over.

The yard was much larger than Sun had imagined. It was a small courtyard with two entrances and two exits, and it was very spacious.

However, the house had fallen into disrepair and most of it had collapsed. In addition, the door was damaged by insects and there were thorns growing there for many years, which made Sun begin to doubt whether the house was habitable.

The old woman took the person there and left.

Looking at the setting sun, Sun finally sighed and said to Yaoguang in a negotiating tone, "Yaoguang, let's clean up this place and stay for two days. Can aunt find a better house?"

Yaoguang has no opinion on where to live. To her, sleeping is just about resting and has nothing to do with the environment.

Seeing Yaoguang's extremely well-behaved appearance, Sun couldn't help but feel distressed!

This child! She is so well behaved! It's a pity that she has suffered so much along the way!

After putting down her luggage, Sun began to clean up the thorns and dead branches at the door.

Sun is old and not as efficient at work.

Yaoguang took out the axe from her bag and started chopping at the weeds and thorns that had just sprouted on the ground.

After she finished chopping, she cut a few more thin bamboos, split them into thin strips, made a simple broom, and swept these things to the wall and piled them up.

When Sun was gathering dozens of dead branches and preparing to burn them as firewood, she turned around and saw the ground that had been cleaned by Yaoguang.

Sun stood there in a daze for a moment, looking at Yaoguang holding the bamboo stick in her hand, and couldn't help but sigh again: "I'm too old to work anymore."

When Yaoguang was cleaning, she swept the stone pier beside the wall. She helped Sun to the side of the stone pier.

"Aunt, please sit down, I will clean up, I can clean up faster." Yaoguang said.

Sun did not try to be brave. She just sat on the stone pier and watched Yaoguang quickly clean the yard and then go into the house to clean.

Almost at the same time as the sun was lying on the top of the wall and was still leaking through the edge of the wall, Yaoguang had already cleaned all the rooms inside that had not collapsed.

Even lit the candles inside!

Sun looked at the light that suddenly came out of the window, stood up from the stone pier and walked in.

But Yaoguang was seen squatting by the wall, facing the wall.

"What's wrong, Yaoguang?" Sun asked with concern, and looked around the house. It was not as shabby as she had imagined and was barely habitable. Sun felt relieved.

"Aunt, there seems to be something in here." Yaoguang squatted beside the wall and looked at the bricks on the wall.

When she was cleaning the yard, she found that the wall of this room was different from the other walls and was much thicker.

After the candles were lit, I discovered that the bricks here had been moved. The traces were very recent, probably from recent years.

"Is it a mouse?" Sun asked, walking towards Yaoguang.

Just take it out and you’ll know what it is.

Yaoguang took out bricks one by one.

Finally, she got to the bottom of it and took it out. It turned out to be a gray box.

After the box was opened, there were pieces of golden gold inside.

There is more than one box like this.

Yaoguang took out five or six such boxes. Some of them contained gold, some contained jade, and some contained pearls as big as a baby's fist.

These priceless treasures lay on the floor of a shabby house, as casually as the weeds outside the yard.

Sun's breathing suddenly became rapid, and even her heart was beating non-stop.

To the Sun family, this was something more terrifying than a haunting!

Sun was a very timid person and never dared to think about such a thing as windfall!

Besides, this wasn't dropped from the sky, but hidden in this room. They walked in, with so many eyes watching them, what if something was missing and someone hated them?

There are many bad guys along the way! There are many powerful people in the capital!

The more Sun thought about it, the more scared she became!

She said to Yaoguang, "Yaoguang, let's put this back and pretend we didn't see it! I will take you to find a new house to live in tomorrow."

You can't live in this house, something bad will happen!

Yaoguang nodded, thinking of the phrase "returning lost property" that the master brain had taught her, which describes a person's good character.

My aunt is a very good person!

Yaoguang put these things back the same way she took them out, and then restored the bricks.

After this incident, Sun took Yaoguang to another room to sleep.

Sun slept very restlessly that night, fearing that some bad guy would jump out in the middle of the night. She even took Yaoguang out of the house before dawn, found a small street stall, and sat down to have breakfast.

Sun chatted with the street vendor for a while and found out that there was an empty house that could be rented for only a few dozen coins a month. Sun happily took Yaoguang and rushed over.

After arriving at the place, Sun looked at the messy and dilapidated thatched hut built by the river in front of her, and her heart sank again.

Although this house is cheap, it can't hide anything! There are so many people living here, what if someone steals their money?

Although Sun didn't go out often, she still knew how treacherous people could be.

Fortunately, this yard by the river is extremely humid, so not many people like to live there, and the prices are lower.

Sun found a toothless old lady and bargained with her for a while. Finally, she spent a little over a hundred copper coins to rent a house.

The house was originally a woodshed, and it was empty with nothing in it.

But Sun was not worried, as long as she had a tile to cover her head.

Then, Sun took Yaoguang and started to clean up the house.
