Children of Loulan

Chapter 7 Kuturuk's Wife

The next morning, Hanguli went to the pharmacy early. She wanted to look for Kuturuk. She did not bring her brother with her to the pharmacy today. One reason was that she had something else to do and it was not convenient for her to bring him with her. The other reason was that her brother knew that he was going to be selected into the palace and he did not want to come either.

Because her father told her that the audition will be held in March of next year, which means there is still half a year left, and she should prepare well in this half year.

After entering the pharmacy, she first found the shopkeeper and said she wanted to look for the master. However, the shopkeeper said that the master had already instructed that if she wanted to look for him, she should go directly to his house. Hanguli had no choice but to turn around and go to Kuturuk's house.

"Knock, knock, knock," there was a knock on the door. After a while, the door creaked open from the inside. It was opened by an old man in his sixties. The old man looked Hanguli up and down.

He asked, “Who are you looking for?”

Hanguli: "I'm looking for your master!"

Old man: "But Miss Hanguli!"

Hanguli: “Yes!”

Old man: "Then please come in!"

As he spoke, he led Hanguli inside, because the master had already instructed that if she came, she should be taken directly to the front hall.

Hanguli followed the old gatekeeper carefully, walking in step by step. This was her first time to visit Kuturuk's house! Although she kept her head down and her eyes fixed on the road, she couldn't help but occasionally glance to the sides. Looking at such a large and magnificent house in front of her, Hanguli couldn't help but feel amazed:

“Wow, it’s so big! It’s so luxurious!”

Soon, they arrived at the front hall. The guide motioned for her to sit down and wait for a moment, then turned and left. There was no one around, so Hanguli finally dared to turn her head slightly and began to look carefully at the room.

The first thing that catches your eye is a square table in the center. It is much larger and taller than the one you use for dining at home, and the workmanship is also more exquisite and delicate. There are two chairs on both sides of the square table, covered with exquisite cushions, which looks particularly comfortable and elegant.

Since she knew nothing about the types of wood, she reached out and gently touched the chair she was sitting on. She was amazed by the touch from her fingertips: the surface of the chair was extremely smooth, and the texture was so delicate that it seemed to be better than her own skin.

Then, she turned her eyes to the furnishings in the house. The exquisite vases and decorations were dazzling. However, most of them were unfamiliar to her. She couldn't help but sigh in her heart, this is the gap that cannot be crossed between rich and poor families!

Although everything in front of her made her feel extremely novel, she only watched from a distance. After watching, she lowered her head silently - these beautiful objects were ultimately not hers, and were not something she could covet.

However, what she didn't know was that there was a screen behind the main seat. There were two people behind the screen who were watching her. Because she only glanced around the room and didn't look carefully, nor did she get up and leave her seat, she naturally didn't notice that there were two people in the room.

Seeing her actions, the two looked at each other and then understood each other and quietly left the room. The two figures slowly walked out of the room.

The first thing that caught my eye was the man. His slightly plump figure revealed a sense of stability. His carefully trimmed mustache added a bit of maturity and elegance. He wore a square hat on his head, and the brim of the hat was decorated with delicate and exquisite patterns, which made him look particularly unique.

He was wearing a bright purple robe with ancient and mysterious totems embroidered on it. These patterns were like vivid elves jumping between his sleeves. He had a black scarf tied around his waist, which was made of fine material and had simple and smooth lines, perfectly outlining his broad waist. The overall outfit showed his wealth and nobility.

Let's look at the woman again. She is wearing an orange long skirt, which flutters gently in the wind. The skirt is embroidered with exquisite orchid patterns, each of which is lifelike and seems to emit a faint fragrance. The headscarf on her head is even more eye-catching. It is not only embroidered with beautiful patterns, but also inlaid with precious golden ornaments, making the whole person look noble and elegant.

The two people were Kuturuk and his wife. They walked and talked:

"Master, this looks like a good kid indeed!"

Kuturuk nodded in agreement and said, "Yes."

Mrs. Luke: "But sir, are you sure she won't tell anyone after she takes over? If she is found out, it won't be a serious crime, but she will be punished to some extent!"

Kuturuk glanced at his wife and said:

"Madam, don't worry, this child has no problem with her character. You see, she was in the front hall just now, although she was alone.

But her eyes were still firm, she just looked at them curiously, without any greed for those things. You know, any one of them is enough for their family to eat for several months!"

Hanguli sat there quietly, looking at the door from time to time, feeling a little uneasy. After a while, she heard a slight sound of footsteps outside the door. She immediately stood up and looked outside.

Kuturuk was walking in front, followed closely by a woman. Hanguli looked closely and saw that the woman was dressed in gorgeous clothes, had a dignified manner, and revealed a noble temperament in her every move. Just by observing her dress, Hanguli could guess that the woman was Kuturuk's wife.

Therefore, Hanguli did not dare to neglect and bowed quickly, and said in a respectful tone:

"Greetings, Master and Madam!"

Her voice was soft but firm, expressing her respect for Mrs. Kuturuk while also showing her own confidence and composure.

After Kuturuk and his wife sat down, he nodded slightly and said, "No need to be polite, sit down and talk!"

After Hanguli sat down again, she heard Kuturuk ask:

"Girl, why are you here today? Did your father ask you to come?"

There were two reasons why he asked this question. The first was that he wanted to know whether Muhammad had told her. The second was that he wanted to know the purpose of her coming here. Was she here to ask about the situation, or did she already know about it and was here to agree or refuse?

Hanguli smiled and replied:

"Master, I came here on my own initiative. First, my mother and brother's health has improved a lot. Although they still need to take some medicine occasionally, they are much better than before. Secondly, I would like to ask you for something, please."

The two were slightly startled when they heard this. Could it be that this girl was going to refuse? Kuturuk thought to himself that if she refused, then he would just break up with her. After all, the lives of this girl and her family were in his hands!

As he was thinking, his wife's expression remained unchanged and she said:

"I don't know? What does the girl want?"

Upon hearing this, Hanguli stretched out her hands, looked at the palms and backs of her hands, then looked up at the two of them, smiled and said:

"Excuse me, Master and Madam. My hands are so rough from working for so long. I heard that Master and Madam have some excellent moisturizer. I want to ask for some to see if it can save my hands!"

When Kuturuk and his wife heard Hanguli say this, they looked at each other and understood in their hearts that this girl had agreed, and she did it willingly. As long as she was willing, nothing would go wrong in the future.

Mrs. Luke immediately stepped forward and said:

"Let me see"

As she spoke, she walked over with a smile and reached out to touch Hanguli's hand. When she touched her hand, Mrs. Luke pretended to be gloomy and said:

"Oh, how come this little hand is so rough? But it's okay, it will be fine after some care. Come, come, come with me!"

He said this enthusiastically, pulling Hanguli to the backyard. The two looked very intimate, but Hanguli knew in her heart what was the purpose of being so nice to her? Although she was young, she was very insightful. She could understand many things as long as she knew them. So that night, after she heard the conversation between her parents, she did not sleep all night and kept thinking about this matter.

Kuturuk was standing behind, watching his wife take her away, with a slight smile on his face. Although he knew she would agree, it was not until she opened her mouth that he felt relieved. Although he had his own means and was not afraid that Hanguli would disagree, the girl was also stubborn. If he pushed her too hard, he could get through this hurdle, but he was also worried that if the girl really gained power in the future, she would come back to retaliate against him.

But fortunately, now that she agreed, everything is basically a foregone conclusion.

Hanguli followed Mrs. Luke, walked through several doors of different sizes, crossed a long corridor, and crossed a small bridge before arriving at the gate of a courtyard.

Hanguli looked up at the plaque above the courtyard which read "Moon Courtyard"

Mrs. Luke smiled and said to her: "This is my daughter's yard. I'll take you to get to know the way. You must come here often in the future. She always says that she only has a few brothers and no sisters to accompany her!"

After that, he led Hanguli into the yard. The yard was very large, with a few unknown trees and many beautiful flowers. However, it was almost winter, and the flowers were almost withered.

When they reached the door of the main wing of the courtyard, they heard a clear and pleasant voice coming from inside.

When I walked into the room, I saw two young women sitting on the floor. One of them was playing a tambourine and the other was playing the tambourine. The one in the middle of the room was wearing a light pink dress with beautiful flowers embroidered on it, a flower hat on her head, and a long headscarf under the flower hat. She was wearing a beautiful bracelet on her wrist, one end of the bracelet was on her wrist and the other end was on her middle finger. There were many small bells on the bracelet.

The small bells made clear and pleasant sounds as the women danced. Hanguli watched the women dancing in the room. She had never seen such a beautiful woman or such a beautiful dance. She was stunned unconsciously.
