Berserk, Total War: Second Son of Nobles

Chapter 15 Killing the Apostles

If it was a medieval legend that happened on the original Earth, John would have just treated it as a ghost story. But if he heard it in Berserk's world, it would most likely be true.

John continued to ask: "Where did you know this legend?"

The man quickly replied: "It was the elders in the village who said it. I don't know what the zombie looks like or where it came from."

John immediately ordered his men to search for information about the ghouls. After an afternoon of questioning, piles of documents were placed on John's desk.

Specifically, the legend of ghouls only appears in the eastern part of the forest, where Yoda lives. It is rare to hear of such a thing in Midland. The information about ghouls is also very confusing. Some say there is only one ghoul, some say ghouls go out in groups, and some say ghouls can generate electricity with their eyes, have fire in their mouths, and smoke in their butts.

But all of this information has one thing in common: ghouls are huge in size, move quickly, mainly feed on meat, and most importantly, they live in forests.

Forget it, someone else's nest has been built in his hometown. John couldn't help but regret that he should have known about this earlier, but it was too late to withdraw now.

Based on the current information, John speculated that this creature should be very small in number and have a small range of activity, otherwise it would be impossible that only people living in the eastern part of the forest had heard of this legend. Secondly, this monster should be active for a short time and only appear in winter.

So in the evening John immediately discussed with everyone how to deal with this incident, and then everyone looked at him strangely.

So Wesker said: "My lord, there are too many legends in this world. There is no need to go to great lengths to find a creature that may not even exist for the sake of an ancient legend. If you are really worried about the instability in the territory, just declare a curfew and then increase the vigilance and patrol frequency at various intersections." His words won the approval of many people.

"Maybe I've just been too nervous these days. Let's follow Wesker's advice and do this first. We'll do it when we have a clue." John gave the order and prepared to go to bed.

Suddenly, the door of the conference hall was opened, and the guard who came in immediately knelt on one knee and said: "Sir, some residents near Johannesburg reported that ghosts have appeared and captured an ox."

Everyone was surprised and immediately looked at John. John was also stunned as he didn't expect him to come so soon.

"Order the garrison in Johannesburg to be on collective alert. Have a squadron of spearmen, crossbowmen and cavalry gather in the parade ground. Bring along all the hunting dogs in Johannesburg." John gave the order quickly, preparing to go to the parade ground to check the troops first, and then go to the scene of the incident.

By the time John finished counting his troops and arrived at the scene, the zombie had already run away, leaving only a pool of blood and a big hole in the cowshed.

John then called the farmer who reported the crime.

"Did you see what the monster looked like?" John asked.

"Master, I didn't see the whole thing. I was sleeping after a busy day when I heard the cow mooing. Then I saw a bluish-white arm about two meters long grabbing the cow and going into the forest. Master, you have to help me," the farmer said and started crying. After all, this was the most valuable thing in his home.

"Okay, stop crying. I already know about your situation. Don't worry. It's just that I don't have any cows to give you in the middle of winter. I'll give you the money for a cow first, and then I'll give you another cow in the spring." After hearing what the farmer said, John gave his own solution.

When the farmer heard that he would get money and cattle, he stopped crying and kowtowed to John, "Thank you for your kindness, sir..."

John began to observe the cowshed. The wall of the cowshed was about 3 meters high, and there was a hole with a diameter of about two meters in the wall. That was to say, the monster was at most 3 meters high. However, one needed to be careful about the fact that it could lift the cow with one hand, and there should be only one monster.

Moreover, John saw the direction in which the bloodstain extended, which meant that as long as he followed the bloodstain, he could find the approximate location of the zombie.

So John quickly took people to chase the zombies. After a period of tracking, John and others came to the eastern part of the forest and found the uneaten remains of oxen in the river.

But John was not stupid, he let the hound smell the oxen, and then followed the hound to continue chasing. Finally, when the sun was about to rise, they came to a cave.

This cave is very hidden, blocked by several trees and covered with vines. It cannot be seen unless you look carefully.

"Now that we're here, let's light a fire in the cave and clear the surrounding leaves. Oh, and take a look around to see if there are other caves to prevent him from escaping." John gave the order directly. After all, he brought more than 1000 people with him. If he couldn't beat one of them, then he wouldn't have to do anything.

The soldiers then set up their spears in front of the cave entrance, and the crossbowmen behind them aimed at the cave. Soon thick smoke came out of the cave.

After a while, the ghoul came out. As soon as the ghoul appeared, all the spears and crossbows were shot at it. After a while, it turned into a hedgehog and fell to the ground. Only then could everyone see the ghoul's true appearance.

A cyan humanoid creature, 3 meters tall, with long limbs, looks like the Night Devil in Dying Light, except that his head is covered with crossbow arrows and his face cannot be seen clearly.

The soldiers were frightened because it was the first time they had seen such a strange creature.

John ordered the ghoul's head to be chopped off and paraded through the forest on a pike, announcing his feat (big boo).
