Chapter 94: Big scumbag? A true gentleman who speaks up for the people?
The 29th year of Emperor Qin Shi Huang
No matter how you look at it, these five seem to be the answer, and Ying Zheng is in a headache.
Fusu mustered up his courage and stepped forward and replied, "Father, the light curtain tells us that we must choose three."
Ying Zheng listened to his eldest son's words without saying anything.
Fusu saw that his father was a little unhappy, and immediately added: "The word 'masses' originated from the book Xunzi, which says that the masses cannot be changed. I think that judging from the content of the previous video, the mass line is an inevitable option."
"The Han and Wei states were unable to be independent and self-reliant, so they became dependent on whichever side was stronger, and ultimately they were destroyed."
"So what you mean is to choose the third and fifth, and which one should I choose for the remaining one?" Ying Zheng glanced at Fusu and motioned for him to continue.
"My son...I want to choose the second one for the last one. But I really don't have any basis for the second one. It's just based on intuition..."
As soon as Fusu finished speaking, Meng Yi also said: "I also think the second, third and fifth ones should be correct."

Ming Dynasty Hongwu 27th year
Zhu Yuanzhang boasted that he loved the people very much, and this person reminded him of the years when he fought against the Yuan Dynasty. He sighed: "Back then, we started an army to fight against the tyrannical Yuan Dynasty. Those days were hard..."
Of those who had followed Zhu Yuanzhang to fight against the Yuan Dynasty, only Feng Sheng, Fu Youde and others are left.
Zhu Yuanzhang was feeling a little sad and wanted to catch up with his old friends.
"Seeking truth from facts? Yes... that's right. We first fought Chen Youliang and then destroyed Zhang Shicheng, and finally the Northern Expedition was also based on facts."
"The mass line? Do you mean to gain the support of the people of the world? Humph! Anyone can kill the tyrant Yuan!"
The more Zhu Yuanzhang thought about it, the more he felt that the question asked by the light curtain was very suitable for him. "Sure enough, only by working together can we succeed, just like me~ The final independence means not to be like Zhang Shicheng who goes back and forth, but to be like me who can bend and stretch and judge the situation!"
After a satisfactory analysis, Zhu Yuanzhang realized that he could only choose three answers to this question, so he acted as a hands-off shopkeeper: "Old Four! You are very capable, come and choose one."
Faced with the gloating of his other brothers, Prince of Yan Zhu Di was speechless. It was at this time that the old man thought of me.
Combining what Hongwu Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang said, Prince of Yan Zhu Di and his ministers discussed that a successful founding leader must be realistic, gain the support of the people and be independent. In the end, they chose BCE.
The people in front of the light curtain really couldn't understand the meaning of this question. If the points were calculated based on the option with the most votes, then they would just need to understand everyone's psychology.

[ Taking advantage of others? Putting aside the rumors of him being a scumbag, what was he like in history? ]
[Hello, I am the up master Xining! Today I will not talk about the big scumbag Yuan Zhen, nor the Yuan Bai couple, but what kind of politician Yuan Zhen is.
Maybe someone will make fun of the prime minister who served for three months, or the villain who betrayed and attached himself to the eunuchs...
Let’s take another look at Yuan Zhen’s life.
"When I read poetry until I reached Du Zimei, I realized that there was a general convergence of both great and small poems."
"It has all the styles of the past and present, and also has its own unique features."
This is what Yuan Zhen wrote in the Epitaph for Du Fu, the Former Member of the Ministry of Works of the Tang Dynasty. After receiving Du Fu's poems, Yuan Zhen spared no effort to promote them and became a die-hard fan of Du Fu. It was also Yuan Zhen's promotion that made Du Fu's poems deeply influence the poets of the Tang and Five Dynasties.
Du Fu lived in the period when the Tang Dynasty was declining. His nostalgic poems put a perfect end to the prosperous Tang Dynasty and also set a precedent for the middle and late Tang Dynasty.
Yuan Zhen lived in the mid-Tang Dynasty, a period when the personal ideals and ambitions of the poets gradually faded and they were extremely eager to intervene in society.
Yuan Zhen lost his father at the age of eight and lived in poverty. He had no teacher during his early school years, so his mother, who came from a scholarly family, began to teach him personally.
In the ninth year of Emperor Dezong's Zhenyuan reign, the fifteen-year-old Yuan Zhen, in order to become an official as soon as possible and get rid of poverty, chose to take the relatively easy Mingjing exam and passed the two classics. However, passing the exam did not mean that he could become an official. To become an official, he had to have "family background, social reputation, and talent", so Yuan Zhen had no official position and lived in the capital.
Yuan Zhen chose another way, "circulating his articles", which means giving his articles to dignitaries to recommend them and become their students.
As we all know, cliques and eunuchs were prevalent in the middle and late Tang Dynasty. To be an official in the court, one must have connections, that is, one must have a backer and must be attached to a faction.
Yuan Zhen's official career
In the 19th year of Zhenyuan, Yuan Zhen entered the Secretariat as a proofreader and met his lifelong friend, Bai Juyi. The two often wrote poems, drank, and played together. Time passed quickly, and four years passed.
Li Chun, Emperor Xianzong of Tang, who was known as the "Resurgence Master" of the middle and late Tang Dynasty, ascended the throne.
Tang Xianzong Li Chun wanted to find real talents to work with him to eliminate arthritis and restore the glory of the Tang Dynasty.
So in April of the first year of Yuanhe, Emperor Xianzong of Tang personally supervised an examination. Yuan Zhen ranked first in this examination and was awarded the title of Zuo Shiyi, a rank of eighth grade.
Yuan Zhen's beautiful mood can be seen from the poem "Reply to Letian's Broken Sword".
Yuan Zhen vowed to kill the treacherous officials in the court!
When Yuan Zhen was serving as the Zuo Shiyi, he submitted a memorial to the emperor, discussing major events in the northwest and criticizing the powerful and privileged people in the court, thus offending many dignitaries.
The forces of the military commanders, civil officials, eunuchs and other parties were intertwined. Emperor Xianzong of Tang Dynasty certainly agreed with Yuan Zhen's words, but the emperor of the middle and late Tang Dynasty needed to balance the forces of all parties. Should he stand on Yuan Zhen's side? That was not allowed, as it would be too sharp.
In September of the same year, Yuan Zhen was demoted to the position of lieutenant of Henan County, and his mother, who had educated him, also passed away. Yuan Zhen was deeply saddened and stayed at home for three years in mourning.
[The second stage of life: promoted - demoted - promoted -
In the fourth year of Yuanhe, Emperor Xianzong of Tang promoted the 31-year-old Yuan Zhen to the position of Supervisory Censor.
In March of the same year, Yuan Zhen was ordered to go to Jiannan Dongchuan to investigate the corruption case of Ren Jingzhong, the supervisor of Luchuan. This case involved the corruption case of Jiedushi Yan Li and others.
This matter involved many people, the circumstances were serious, the amount involved was huge, and public outrage was aroused. However, Yuan Zhen was not afraid of power and still wanted to investigate.
Although Jiedushi Yan Li had died of illness, Yuan Zhen still wrote to the emperor to demand that Yan Li be punished. There were too many officials involved, and Prime Minister Pei Yi had only been in office for a short time, so the huge corruption case was only hastily resolved in the end.
Yuan Zhen offended the old bureaucratic group and the major vassal states because of this incident, and was soon exiled to Luoyang, the eastern capital. Yuan Zhen remained true to his original intention while serving in Luoyang, insisting on enforcing the law impartially and punishing lawbreakers.
In the fifth year of Yuanhe, Fang Shi took over as the governor of Henan. Fang Shi did whatever he wanted in Luoyang and acted lawlessly. Yuan Zhen detained Fang Shi in accordance with the court system, suspended him from his post, fined Fang Shi one month's salary, and reported the matter to the court.
Yuan Zhen, a minor official of the eighth rank, detained Fang Shi, a senior official of the third rank, without authorization. Emperor Xianzong of Tang issued an imperial decree to fine Yuan Zhen and summon him back to Chang'an.
Yuan Zhen passed through Fushui Posthouse west of Huayin County and stayed in the upper hall of the posthouse. At night, eunuchs Qiu Shiliang, Liu Shiyuan and others came to the posthouse and wanted to stay in the upper hall, threatening and forcing Yuan Zhen to leave. Yuan Zhen hated the eunuch group and refused to give up the upper hall.
So Qiu Shiliang and others beat Yuan Zhen's face with a horsewhip until his skin was torn and flesh was exposed. After returning to the capital, they reported to the emperor that Yuan Zhen was rude.
Yuan Zhen was subjected to malicious attacks by the eunuch group, and Emperor Xianzong of Tang also blindly protected the eunuchs. On the grounds that "Yuan Zhen was too flamboyant to show off his authority and failed to behave like a constitutional minister", he demoted Yuan Zhen to the position of assistant general of Jiangling Tucao, and later transferred him to the position of Sima of Tongzhou.
Yuan Zhen's confidant Bai Juyi was also demoted to the post of Sima of Jiangzhou, and the two often wrote poems to comfort each other. People in the south of the Yangtze River recited poems on the road and in the post houses, and the poems were circulated in the palace. People in the streets and alleys recited them to each other, causing the price of paper in the market to rise.
During the period when he was exiled to Tongzhou, Yuan Zhen led the local people to weed and reclaim wasteland, personally participated in farming work, and achieved remarkable political achievements.
In the 13th year of Yuanhe, after the pacification of Huaixi, Yuan Zhen was granted amnesty, which allowed him to write to his old acquaintance, Prime Minister Pei Du, who then appointed Yuan Zhen acting governor of Tongzhou.
In the 14th year of Yuanhe, Linghu Chu was appointed as prime minister. Linghu Chu had long heard of Yuan Zhen's poetry and admired his talent, so he appointed Yuan Zhen as the deputy minister of the Ministry of Food.
【The Road to Prime Minister
The following year, Emperor Xianzong was poisoned to death by eunuchs and Emperor Muzong ascended the throne. When Emperor Muzong Li Heng was the crown prince, he loved Yuan Zhen's poems and essays very much and often summoned him. He had a very good impression of Yuan Zhen.
Linghu Chu had recommended Yuan Zhen many times. When the court discovered that Linghu Chu was corrupt and dismissed him from his position as prime minister, the imperial edict of Linghu Chu's exile was written by Yuan Zhen. This made Linghu Chu very angry and thought that Yuan Zhen was ungrateful.
In the first year of Changqing, Yuan Zhen was appointed as the Secretary of the Central Secretariat, which was only one step away from the position of prime minister. Yuan Zhen began to further collude with the eunuchs, and in February of the second year of Changqing, Yuan Zhen and Pei Du became prime ministers.
At this time, Li Fengji, the Minister of War, who was trying to curry favor with the eunuch Wang Shoucheng who killed Emperor Xianzong of Tang, sent people to frame Yuan Zhen in order to compete for the position of prime minister. He said that Yuan Zhen and Pei Du had a bad relationship and that he was going to send someone to assassinate Pei Du.
The rumors were spreading like wildfire, and people were in a panic. Therefore, the great eunuch Wang Shoucheng instigated Emperor Muzong of Tang, Li Heng, to dismiss both Yuan Zhen and Pei Du from their positions as prime ministers. Pei Du remained in the court as a minister, while Yuan Zhen was sent down to Tongzhou as governor, and was soon transferred to Zhejiang East as governor and Yuezhou governor.
【Unsuccessful
During his tenure, he cared for the people, built water conservancy projects, developed agriculture, and achieved great political achievements, which won him the support of the people. Although he was transferred to the capital because of his good political achievements, he was still expelled from the capital because of factional disputes.
In September of the third year of Emperor Wenzong's reign, Yuan Zhen entered the court as Shangshu Zuocheng. As he held an important position and had the conditions to promote benefits and eliminate malpractices, he regained his former vigor and was determined to rectify the court and clean up the bureaucracy.
However, Li Zongmin, who was at odds with Yuan Zhen, became prime minister again, and Yuan Zhen was again squeezed out of the capital.
In the fifth year of Taihe, Yuan Zhen died of a sudden illness at the age of fifty-three. He was posthumously awarded the title of Shangshu You Pushe.
[The uploader personally believes that, apart from Yuan Zhen’s love history which was the most criticized by everyone, Yuan Zhen lived a life worthy of the people in the officialdom. He always insisted on boldly impeaching unjust officials and redressing unjust, false and wrong cases.
In the mid- and late-Tang Dynasty, the three problems of cliques, eunuchs, and feudal lords were always unavoidable. Countless people wanted to solve them, but they were ultimately unsuccessful.
The reason why the literati in the middle and late Tang Dynasty had infinite admiration for Du Fu was that they linked their own sufferings with those of Du Fu, and the poems and articles they wrote expressed the same miserable situation as Du Fu, who wanted to serve his country and the people but had no way to do so.
