"Polish Snow Cave Incident"

The Polish Snow Cave consists of five sub-caves, which are connected by passages. Because there is often snow in several entrances and exits, people gave this cave system a new name "Big Snow Cave".

For cave explorers, Poland's Great Snow Cave is a paradise.

Six cavers went to the Great Snow Cave.

The bottom of the cave is almost entirely vertical passages, with cold wind blowing in. The cliff walls are slippery and steep, and you can get hurt if you are not careful.

The muddy and narrow passage is extremely torturous. It seems only a few meters, but it takes more than ten minutes to climb.

The narrow cracks in the passage forced people to move sideways, and the protruding rocks caused many scratches on their bodies.

When the cave explorers were preparing to return, the cave had been flooded with rainwater for seven or eight hours and water began to accumulate in many places.

There was no signal inside the cave, so in the middle of the night, the other four people who had been walking in the cave decided to climb out of the cave to ask for help. They finally came out of the cave 15 hours later.

After receiving the news, the search and rescue team immediately rushed to the scene by helicopter. At this time, 36 hours had passed since the trapped people.

The situation inside the cave is complicated and the passages are narrow, and the trapped people are trapped 450 meters underground, which severely limits the number of rescue workers who can enter.

The transportation of rescue equipment was extremely difficult. In order to communicate with people outside, they also set up a two-kilometer telephone line into the cave.

The rescue team had two plans, one of which was to dive through the connecting channel, but they soon found that it was not possible because they could not squeeze in with their oxygen tanks.

The second plan was to go around from the upper passage, but it was not feasible either, because that passage was also filled with water, was just as narrow, and was longer.

The rescue team had to come up with a third plan, which was to use explosives to blow up the connecting passage below, but this was very dangerous. The structure of the cave was very fragile, and using explosives was likely to cause a collapse.

The rescue team had no choice at this point. It would take more than a day just to transport the explosives in. For the safety of the rescuers, each detonation had to be separated by three hours. By the time the connecting passages were finally widened, 91 hours had passed since the trapped people were trapped.

Two days later, they found a body in a narrow passage.

A thunderstorm hit the mountain range, and violent lightning killed five rescue workers on the spot and injured more than a hundred others.

The search and rescue in the cave did not stop. After a day, the body of the other person was still not found. The person in charge of the rescue team told the media: Six days have passed. In the cave with a temperature of only four degrees, the other person, who was lacking in food and clothing, is likely to have died. Many people in the rescue team were also injured in the cave, and they are considering whether to stop the search.

The people at the Cave Club are furious and are convinced the other man is still alive, and they are threatening to sue if the rescue team stops searching.

Two days later, the search and rescue team finally found another trapped person.

At the request of the cave club and the victims' families, it took the rescue team another 12 days to transport the two bodies out.

At this point, the search and rescue operation that took dozens of people 20 days and consumed a lot of resources has finally ended.

After forensic examination, it was found that both of them died of hypothermia and there was no sign of drowning. It is estimated that the time of death should be the moment the rescue team arrived, and they were probably already dead.
