Chapter 17 The Darkest Moment in History⑤

As the music sounded

[Elegy of the Late Ming Dynasty] appeared above the sky.

【In the late Ming Dynasty, various social class contradictions were unprecedentedly intensified, the government was corrupt, the military system was broken, the taxation was harsh, the land annexation was serious, the salt and grain monopoly, the court withheld food and wages, and natural disasters continued. Throughout the late Ming Dynasty, droughts, cold currents, locust plagues, floods, plague, and epidemics continued to occur. The climate in the Central Plains continued to deteriorate, the world was in chaos, and wars broke out. Wang Jiayin, Yang Liu, Bu Zanni, Gao Yingxiang, Zhang Xianzhong, Li Zicheng and others successively revolted. Facing the threat of the Manchu Qing Dynasty outside the border and the peasant uprising army that broke out in the interior, the Ming Dynasty was caught in a two-front war.

In 1644, the 1645th year of Chongzhen, Li Zicheng captured Beijing, and Emperor Chongzhen Zhu Youjian hanged himself on Coal Hill. In the same year, Prince of Fu Zhu Yousong proclaimed himself emperor in Nanjing, with the reign title of Hongguang, known in history as the Southern Ming. In 1645, the Qing army entered Nanjing, and the Hongguang regime collapsed. In 1646, Prince of Tang Zhu Youjian proclaimed himself emperor in Fuzhou, with the reign title of Longwu, and Prince of Lu Zhu Yihai proclaimed himself emperor in Shaoxing. In , the Qing took Shaoxing, and the Lu regent fled east. The Qing entered Fujian, and Emperor Longwu died of hunger strike.

In 1646, Emperor Yongli Zhu Youlang ascended the throne and resisted the Qing Dynasty in a corner of the southwest. In 1661, the Qing army invaded Yunnan, and Emperor Yongli fled south to Burma. The following year, in 1662, Wu Sangui invaded Burma. Mu Tianbo, Duke of Qian, fought hard, but was outnumbered and died in battle. The Burmese king presented Emperor Yongli to the emperor. In June of the same year, Wu Sangui hanged Emperor Yongli in Kunming, and Prince of Lu Zhu Yihai died of illness in Kinmen. The last emperor of the Han people came to an end.

The Manchus entered the country, issued an order to shave their heads, and implemented the policy of shaving their heads and changing their clothes, and the massacre began.

(Various massacres flash across the screen, sad music plays, and shrill wailing sounds.

Massacres in Northeast China, North China, Jiangnan, Huguang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Southwest China, Northwest China, etc.)

【From the end of the Ming Dynasty to the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, the population loss was about 5000 to 8000 million. When barbarism defeated civilization, when the revived Han civilization began to be damaged, clothing and etiquette completely collapsed, culture and technology regressed, and the people were slaughtered and blood flowed like a river.

The implementation of the policy of keeping the people ignorant made the people numb. The academic thought was also completely liquidated. The cultural classics and thoughts of China were completely revised from beginning to end. The compilation of the Siku Quanshu clamped down on thoughts and controlled public opinion. How painful it is for China! How pity it is for China!

"I would rather die in the wilderness than surrender to the Qing." (Li Dingguo)

"After reading the broken stele, I call out to the heroic ghost, saying that life and death are all dependent on King Li Jin." (Liu Bin)

"The battlefield is full of white bones and corpses, but I will never surrender even if I die. I want to warn you not to cover your nose, for the living are not as fragrant as the dead." (Inscribed on the Jiangyin City Wall)

"There are those who are still alive who want to use their faces to look like the deceased, and wrap the body and return it to the body. After 37 days, this smelly skin bag will change into a ghost or an animal, and will look like everyone else. Then they will cry and leave it alone."

"My loyalty will never fade. This is my heart! One day, when the barbarians are pacified and the Chinese people see the light of day again, those who discuss this matter should know my heart!" (Huang Chunyao)

"For eighty days, we wore our hair to pledge our loyalty, representing the great men of the seventeen dynasties of Emperor Taizu. One hundred thousand people died together for the sake of justice, leaving behind a 300-li territory for the Ming Dynasty." (Yan Yingyuan, Eighty-one Days in Jiangyin)]

<Sichuan was depopulated for thousands of miles after the massacre, and eventually people from Huguang moved to Sichuan>

<The three hundred years of the Ming Dynasty may not end suddenly, it is also God's will. When I die, you should return to the Ming Dynasty immediately, and do not do anything unjust. ——Zhang Xianzhong>

<Reading the history of the Southern Ming Dynasty really makes me angry to death! What a fucking irony, the descendants of the Eight Banners of the Qing Dynasty watched the Ming army disguised as the Qing army and the rebel army disguised as the Ming army fighting to the death.>

<The surrendered Ming army fought against the rebel army, and the rebel army joined the Southern Ming and became the Ming army…>

<Who says it’s not true? Li Dingguo, who was called the last pillar of the Ming Dynasty, was also a member of Zhang Xianzhong’s Dashi Army>

<Image Comment: List of Ming Dynasty surrendering to Qing Dynasty.jpg>

<Image Comment: List of Anti-Qing People in Late Ming Dynasty.jpg>

<Sad for their misfortune, angry at their lack of resistance>

<In my opinion, the darkest period: the Five Barbarians’ Rebellion, the Qing invasion, and the Japanese invasion>

<Emperor Chenghua should have been more ruthless when he was plowing the courtyard and sweeping the acupoints>

<Alas, Li Zicheng is far inferior to Zhu Yuanzhang>

<Smart Tears>

<After Li Zicheng entered Beijing, he looted 70 million taels of silver, but when it was Chongzhen's turn to ask the civil and military nobles in the court to donate money, everyone was reluctant to do so…>

<Among the nobles in the late Ming Dynasty, I only remember one Duke Ying, Zhang Shize, who was killed when Li Zicheng conquered Beijing>

<There is also a twelfth-generation grandson of Chang Yuchun, who inherited the title of Huaiyuan Hou Chang Yanling. After the country was destroyed, he worked as a gardener and lived out his life in plain clothes. Emm, he is still a little better than a bunch of surrendered nobles…>

<Haha, speaking of this, we have to mention the other nobleman, Duke of Cheng, Zhu Chunchen. He could not wait to offer the Qihua Gate, surrender to Li Zicheng, hand over the crown prince Zhu Cilang, and persuade Li Zicheng to ascend the throne. Of course, he was executed by Li Zicheng in the end. To be honest, Chongzhen had a bad eye for people…>

<All the contradictions and disasters at the end of the Ming Dynasty broke out at the same time>

<Who would believe it? Chongzhen was the poorest person in the entire Ming court. Hahaha. After killing Wei Zhongxian, there was no one to check the Donglin Party. The officials and gentry of the Ming Dynasty were the richest~>

<Actually, another reason why I can’t bear the history of the Southern Ming Dynasty is that the many massacres in the southern region were not caused by the brutal acts of the Manchus. Many Han people also joined the team to destroy the Southern Ming Dynasty, and many of those who participated in the massacre were also Han people…>

<Late Ming Dynasty, an era when even Zhu Yuanzhang would rebel against the Ming Dynasty>

<The end of the Ming Dynasty was just a mess. The Ming Dynasty was bad, and Shunzhi and Daxi were also bad. Of course, I later realized that the Qing Dynasty was even worse>

<Wow, there are so many powders…>

<Harm, national tragedy, heroes forever>

<How ridiculous! Half of the last Ming army was composed of ethnic minorities (Yi, Bai, Miao, Dai, Nushui, Dulong)>

<Han and traitors cannot coexist, there is a clear instruction in ancient times, the Chinese and the barbarians must be strictly distinguished, the Spring and Autumn Annals preserve righteousness!>

<None of the 56 ethnic groups in China can be left behind!>

<When I was young and ignorant, I read the history of the Southern Ming Dynasty and was so angry that I had a headache. The Southern Ming Dynasty was rotten from the inside, just like the Song Dynasty, they were fighting among themselves until their death! >

<It is said that the Hu people destroyed the Qin Dynasty, Dong Zhuo destroyed the Han Dynasty, and Huang Chao destroyed the Tang Dynasty. Then who destroyed the Ming Dynasty?>

<The Ming Dynasty was rotten, with foot binding, the system of burying people alive with the dead, the system of raising pigs as vassal kings, the establishment of military households and artisan registration… Zhu Yuanzhang was the biggest villain and sinner in China!>

<I don’t understand those who brag about Gang Ming all the time, hehe, Ming really doesn’t deserve it.>

<Yo yo yo~~ What's going on? The Manchu Eight Banners disciples are here?>

<Ming Xiaozi…>

<Ming powder and Qing powder are indeed very powerful [thumbs up]>
