The short videos I watched from all dynasties
Chapter 150: To the Great Diplomat of the Western Han Dynasty
Li Ranran exited the autoplay and refreshed the video on the homepage again, silently complaining in her heart: There are no videos I want to watch on the latest 13 stations, alas.
As I was talking, I saw a video cover with two beautiful sisters looking into the distance...
[The Princess Who Married Far Away]
(The video begins with a young and beautiful woman getting her makeup done in front of a mirror, and then leaves Chang'an and heads to the Wusun Kingdom. On the way, Princess Jieyou and her maid Feng Ling support each other, and they both understand what the burden is on their shoulders.
When they arrived at Wusu, they found the scenery was completely different from that of Chang'an. There was an empty scene with snow-capped mountains, deserts, and Gobi... At night, they listened to the hoarseness of the horses and fell asleep with the mission of their hometown as their pillow.
...
The elderly Princess Jieyou finally completed her mission and wrote a letter requesting to return to her homeland.
Finally, she set foot on the land of her hometown again. Three years later, Princess Jieyou passed away in Chang'an.
<They are the heroes of the Han Dynasty! >
<This is the heroine! Princess Jieyou got the heroine's script, which is really amazing.>
<Princess Jieyou is the first princess who came back later, and the ending is really good. Many princesses who were married off to foreign countries ended up staying in a foreign land.>
<Don't underestimate her maid, Feng Ling's brocade carriage messenger>
<This part is discussed in “Why China”, and the filming is pretty good.>
<Princess Jieyou was only a teenager when she left Chang'an. When she returned to Chang'an, she was already seventy years old. Alas>
<In the early Han Dynasty, princesses were married to foreign countries because the country could not afford it, and the Xiongnu was a strong political means at that time. The name of the marriage also had the meaning of appeasement. Princess Jieyou was married to Wusun during the reign of Emperor Wu of Han, and later she lived through Emperor Zhao and Emperor Xuan. Therefore, in history, there were several princesses who returned to their hometowns after being married to foreign countries...>
...
[After more than 50 years of marriage in the Western Regions, she finally returned to her hometown of Chang'an | Great female diplomats of the Western Han Dynasty: Princess Jieyou and Lady Feng Ling]
[Hello everyone, today we will briefly talk about the story of Princess Jieyou, the princess who married into the Western Han Dynasty, and her maid Lady Feng Ling.
Princess Jieyou is the only princess who returned to her homeland for marriage, and her maid is a rare diplomat!
In the fifth year of Yuanshou in the Western Han Dynasty, Zhang Qian offered advice to Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, using money to lure the Wusun Kingdom into marriage. This period was a critical period in the war against the Xiongnu. As long as they formed an alliance with the Wusun Kingdom, it would be like cutting off an arm of the Xiongnu.
The first marriage was between Princess Xijun (also known as Princess Wusun), the daughter of Liu Jian, King of Jiangdu and a criminal minister and nephew of Emperor Wu of Han, Liu Che. She married King Lie Jiaomi of Wusun. However, Princess Wusun died after only four years.
The Western Han Dynasty's plan for the Xiongnu remained unchanged. In order to achieve its goal, it chose another princess to marry. This person was Princess Jieyou. Princess Jieyou's ancestor was King Liu Jiao of Chu. Her grandfather Liu Wu participated in the rebellion of the Seven Kingdoms of Wu and Chu and attempted to rebel but failed before committing suicide. So Princess Jieyou was actually the descendant of a criminal. And the maid Feng Ling who accompanied her to marry Wusun was smart, well-educated, and good at writing official script. It is speculated that she might also be the descendant of a criminal. They went to Wusun with only one purpose, which was to make meritorious contributions and complete their mission.
Princess Jieyou had a different kind of tenacious character from Princess Wusun. After arriving in Wusun, Princess Jieyou married the old king of Wusun, Junxumi.
Feng Ling, on behalf of Princess Jieyou, visited neighboring countries as an envoy, giving out rewards and spreading Han culture. Feng Ling was very good at speaking and could talk to people without an interpreter. People respectfully called her Madam Feng. Later, she married the right general of Wusun.
After Junxumi died, Princess Jieyou married her second husband, Junxumi's cousin Wengguimi. At this time, Princess Jieyou sent an envoy to Emperor Zhao of Han to inform him that the Xiongnu Kingdom had sent troops to join forces with the Cheshi Kingdom to invade the Wusun Kingdom, and hoped that the emperor would come to rescue the Wusun Kingdom. But the Han Dynasty did not take any action.
Later, Princess Jieyou and Junxumi sent people to Chang'an and said: The situation in Wusun Kingdom is very serious now. Wusun Kingdom is willing to send 50,000 cavalry to join forces with the Han Dynasty to fight the Huns. They hope that the Han Dynasty can send troops to relieve Wusun's predicament.
At this time, Emperor Zhao of Han died and the new emperor was Emperor Xuan of Han. Emperor Xuan of Han sent 150,000 troops to attack the Xiongnu together with Wusun, which seriously damaged the Xiongnu. Wusun then joined forces with Wuhuan and Dingling to counterattack the Xiongnu. After this battle, the Xiongnu's influence in the Western Regions was greatly weakened.
At the same time, there have always been two forces coexisting within the territory of Wusun, one is the pro-Xiongnu force, and the other is the pro-Han Dynasty force.
Weng Guimi wrote to the Han Dynasty, saying that he was willing to make Princess Jieyou's eldest son Yuan Guimi his heir in order to establish friendly relations between the two countries. The King of Shache also wrote to say that he was willing to make Princess Jieyou's second son Wannian his heir, and the King of Qiuci also asked to marry Princess Jieyou's eldest daughter Dishi.
Soon, Weng Guimi died. The pro-Xiongnu forces in Wusun rose, and Nimi, who had Xiongnu blood, became the king. Princess Jieyou also married Nimi. But the relationship between Nimi and Princess Jieyou was quite bad. Princess Jieyou joined forces with Han Dynasty envoys Wei Ruyi and Ren Chang to kill Nimi. Unfortunately, Nimi escaped after being stabbed, and Princess Jieyou and her companions were besieged in Chigu City. Fortunately, the Western Regions Protector General Shi Zhengji came to rescue them.
The Han Dynasty sent General Zhang Zun to treat Nimi in order to ease the relationship with Wusun. They also arrested Wei Ruyi and Ren Chang and took them to Chang'an to be beheaded. They also sent General Zhang Weng, the Chief Clerk of the General of Chariots and Cavalry, to investigate the matter. Princess Jieyou refused to accept the charge, so Zhang Weng beat her. Princess Jieyou later wrote a letter to Emperor Xuan of Han to complain, and Zhang Weng was executed after returning to Chang'an.
Emperor Xuan of Han actually approved of Princess Jieyou's killing of Nimi. Later, when Deputy Envoy Ji Du was treating Nimi, he had the opportunity to kill him but did not, so he was castrated by Emperor Xuan of Han.
Wujiutu, the son born to Princess Jieyou's second husband Weng Guimi and a Xiongnu wife, fled to the Xiongnu and led his troops back to Wusun to kill Nimi.
When the Han Dynasty was about to send troops to attack Wujiu Tu, Princess Jieyou's maid Feng Ling asked her husband, the Right General of Wusun, to persuade Wujiu Tu. Wujiu Tu listened to the advice and chose to compromise with the Han Dynasty. He told the Han Emperor that he was willing to share Wusun with Princess Jieyou's son Yuan Guimi. Feng Ling returned to Chang'an to explain the matter to Emperor Xuan of Han.
After this incident, the Wusun Kingdom was divided into two parts and officially became a vassal state of the Han Dynasty. The Wusun Kingdom completely turned to the Han Dynasty.
The next year, Princess Jieyou wrote a letter: I wish to return my remains to be buried in the Han Dynasty. So Princess Jieyou was able to return to Chang'an.
After Yuan Guimi died, the young Xingmi succeeded to the throne, but after he succeeded to the throne, Wusun was in turmoil. Feng Ling wrote a letter: She was willing to go to Wusun to pacify Xingmi and supervise the country for the Han Dynasty. Emperor Xuan of Han sent a hundred people to escort her back to Wusun, and she never returned to the Han Dynasty.
<They completed their mission, and their achievements were great. Among them, the one I admire most is Feng Ling, who returned to Wusun in the end in order not to give up all her efforts... Alas, if it were me, I would never go back [sigh]>
<Hahaha, Princess Jieyou is simply the 'grandmother' of the Western Regions, hahaha all countries in the world are her descendants>
<I really liked the big men at that time. Everyone was very principled, tough and would do what they said.>
<Zhang Weng was courting death by beating the princess, but I feel that Wei Ruyi and Ren Chang should not be dead. If they were to be killed in Wusun, they should be killed. I prefer to do it to save face>
Emperor Xuan of Han probably felt that they had not completed the assassination mission well. If they had killed Nimi at the banquet, there would have been no further events.
<Ji Du who was sentenced to castration was the most miserable. Alas, this is what it means to not be able to figure out your boss’s thoughts [poor thing]>
<Princess Jieyou and Feng Ling are both truly great>
<Feng Ling is really brave, not inferior to Su Wu and others, a heroine! Women are as brave as men! A remarkable woman!>
......
Li Ranran was moved after watching this video. She admired both Princess Jieyou and Feng Ling. The two of them supported each other and transformed from the daughter of a guilty minister to a great diplomat with courage and strategy in the whirlpool of politics. These were not easy.
People from all walks of life also agreed with Guangmu's evaluation. What these two people did was of great significance to the Han Dynasty's layout in the Western Regions.
Influenced by Guangmu, many scholars began to compose poems about them and praise their achievements.
Many other women, influenced by Princess Jieyou and Lady Feng Ling, began to set higher standards for themselves, believing that they could also be the second Princess Jieyou or Lady Feng Ling.
----
Han Dynasty, the fifth year of Yuanshou
The video on the light screen talked about Princess Jieyou. Coincidentally, an envoy from the Wusun Kingdom also came to propose marriage, which made Liu Che overjoyed.
Zhang Qian frowned and thought, the current king of Wusun is called Kunmo, right? Junxumi seems to be his son? Wusun is in chaos again!
Liu Che agreed to the request of the Wusun envoy, but in fact the Wusun Kingdom was not really seeking marriage this time, they just wanted to see the strength of the Han Dynasty.
After Zhang Qian told Liu Che what he was thinking, Liu Che also remembered that three years ago, King Jiangdu committed suicide after his failed rebellion, and his daughter was spared because of her young age. Now, only three years have passed, and Liu Xijun is not suitable in terms of age.
"It must be the Huns!" Liu Che firmly believed that it was the Huns that caused the failure of this alliance.
Zhang Qian explained the situation in Wusun: "The situation in Wusun is just as Guangmu said, many people are pro-Xiongnu. If we want to completely win over Wusun to fight against Xiongnu, we must let Wusun see that the national strength of our Great Han is far greater than that of Xiongnu, and enhance the influence of the Great Han in the Western Regions."
Liu Che had already decided that this alliance would not go smoothly, but he also thought that many things had changed because of the spoilers on the light curtain. Perhaps this time he could make the Wusun Kingdom work for the Han Dynasty...
......
Liu Che met the younger Princess Jieyou, who was only three years old.
Well, after many years, the Han Dynasty may no longer need a princess for marriage.
