For several days, the villagers went crazy to grab wild vegetables on the mountain. If the villagers didn't dig them, people from other villages would come. I heard that the river water upstream was almost dry, and drinking water was a problem downstream.

Qili Village was sandwiched in the middle, and the water supply was barely enough for the next few days. In less than ten days, forget about having water for washing every day. The men in the family who could go went to fetch water from the locust tree to see how much they could bring back.

It’s not that they don’t know how to take as much as they need, but if they don’t go now, they might not be able to drink any water.

Cen Shu lies in the house every day. This old house looks shabby but it is much cooler than outside. Except that it is a little dark and there are pieces of soil falling down, there is nothing wrong with it.

Today, only her grandmother, mother and she were left at home. The bored child kept yawning, but the feeling of being hungry was really unpleasant. Her mother had no milk, and even she herself could not eat enough. She was as thin as a bamboo pole due to hunger. How could she get milk to feed her?

But no matter whether he took out eggs or chickens, they would not eat well and would save them every time. The baby with limited mental power could not take out more. After saving mental power for several days, Cen Shu, whose stomach was rumbling, had no choice but to enter the space to find something he could eat.

The sun was shining brightly, cracking the ground in the yard. Everywhere you looked was barren land and dead grass. The vegetable seedlings that Zhou Qiaoping and her eldest daughter-in-law had planted by the wall had just sprouted, but were about to die of drought. The old man stood at the door of the main house, looking at the seedlings with regret.

Zhao Xiuer held Fubao, who was only wearing a small bellyband, and said hesitantly, "Mom, I still don't have any milk, and I can't feed the child." As she spoke, tears fell down her face. The child was still young, and she, as a mother, had no milk at all. No one could let the child starve.

Zhou Qiaoping looked at Fubao and said resolutely, "When Lao Er comes back, ask him to kill the chicken at home and stew it for you and Yisheng. I will go to Liu Er's house next door to borrow some millet to make some porridge for Fubao."

Zhao Xiuer wiped her tears and coaxed, "Don't be afraid, Fubao, just drink some rice soup later."

Cen Shu looked like she was still awake, but in fact she had been rummaging around in the space for quite some time. The space was very large, with mountains and water, but her current mental strength could only reach vegetable fields and wells, and she would not be able to go any further.

She looked left and right, but found nothing except a pile of chicken eggs, duck eggs and little rabbits. She was about to go back with a pile of eggs when a little goat rushed into the vegetable garden, followed by a mother goat. Cen Shu's eyes lit up, she had found milk.

She struggled to use her mental power to move the goat out, and the lamb's cry became louder and louder. Cen Shu thought, if the mother goat is moved away, what will happen to the lamb? After thinking about it, she moved both goats out together. Zhou Qiaoping had just returned from outside, muttering, "Liu Er's millet is gone, I'm going to the head of the village, you take good care of the child..."

As he spoke, he lifted the door curtain and was almost hit by the running lamb.

The old lady looked at the child lying quietly on the kang and the two goats running wildly in the small room, and rubbed her eyes in disbelief. "Fubao, this... did you get this?"

The child on the bed raised his little fist happily and made an "Oh-oh-oh" sound.

Zhao Xiuer came back from the kitchen with a bowl of water. She was so scared when she saw the sheep in the house that she almost dropped the bowl, but she managed to keep her balance. She looked at Zhou Qiaoping hesitantly and asked, "Mom? Did you borrow the sheep?"

Zhou Qiaoping quickly drove the goat out and put it in the yard, then came back and said, "Now we can't even borrow millet, who would lend us a ewe? The little girl must have been very hungry, so she found this herself."

No matter how many times Zhao Xiuer saw Fubao's ability, she was still shocked. She even said hesitantly: "Mom, Fubao, this won't be bad for her. Every time I take out something, she is not very energetic. Will it damage her fortune?"

Zhou Qiaoping hesitated and was not sure. She was shocked to see her granddaughter, who was originally lively on the kang, now lying motionless.

The drowsy Cen Shu felt a rustling sound in her ears, followed by her grandmother's voice: "Good Fubao, grandma knows you are capable, but if you take something, it will hurt you, so don't take it again, okay? No one in the family can let you starve." As she spoke, she patted her back gently.

Cen Shu was touched. It turned out that her family would rather not have enough to eat than let her get hurt. She used to be lazy, but now she was full of fighting spirit - she must make sure her family is well fed!

She pulled out a bunch of vegetables and a few hens from the space, and happily said "ah-ah-ah" to her mother and grandmother. In fact, what she said was: "You eat, I have plenty." But they couldn't understand her "baby talk", and could only blink and watch their eyes turn red.

Zhou Qiaoping knew that the child was sensible and not an ordinary baby, but no matter whether she was a fairy or a monster, she was her dearest granddaughter, and she didn't want Fubao to get hurt in any way.

Cen Shu scratched his head and thought: Why don’t I feed her when I have milk? She’s so hungry.

Zhao Xiuer went out with tears on her face, and when she came back, she was holding a bowl of warm goat's milk in her hand.

Cen Shu's eyes lit up. She finally came. It had to be her mother. From her pouting mouth, one could tell that she wanted to eat.

Zhou Qiaoping handed Fubao to Zhao Xiuer and said, "You feed Fubao, I'm going out to cut some grass, otherwise the sheep will have nothing to eat." Then she took the sickle and went out to the mountain.

Cen Shu was extremely hungry and drank mouthful after mouthful with great pleasure. Her hungry wolf-like appearance made Zhao Xiuer giggle: "Little Fubao, drink slowly, there's still a lot. Be careful not to choke when you drink like this." After feeding her a few spoonfuls, she picked up Fubao's special handkerchief and wiped the milk stains for her.

After drinking a lot, Cen Shushi was finally full and burped. Zhao Xiuer stopped feeding her and gently put the child down, sandwiched her with a pillow and went to wash the dishes.

Just as Zhao Xiuer left, Cen Shu was playing with his fingers out of boredom. He caught a gray shadow in his sight and looked up quickly. A large gray rat slowly came down from the roof along a pillar, followed by several small rats. Cen Shu was so frightened that he froze, and only regretted that he could not run away immediately.

Zhao Xiuer was still in the kitchen, putting the dishes away, when she heard the heart-wrenching cry of a child in the room. She was so scared that she ran inside.

Cen Shu stretched her head and looked at the rat that was getting closer and closer, kicking her legs in fear. This rat was so big, it would not bite her. Mom, please come quickly, or your daughter will be eaten by the rat.

As soon as Zhao Xiuer entered the room, she saw a big rat with green eyes approaching the white ball on the kang. She was horrified and hit the rat with the broom at hand, making the rat squeak continuously.

However, they ran too fast and only killed two small ones. The big rat then quickly climbed up the pillar with the remaining rats and ran away.

The mother and daughter in the room were left terrified.

That night, Li Huaiqing heard about this and felt very distressed: "Did the child get scared?"

I ran to borrow a few cats before I even finished my meal. After raising them for a few days, they caught all the mice in the house, and at least they didn't dare to show up.
