We don’t want those who are short, too fat or too thin, or have an uneven body shape, those with unclear eyesight, those with scars on their bodies, or those whose family members have committed crimes...

How come this is stricter than the conditions for selecting guards in the palace? It really hurts us to see so many unwanted people!

In our country, basically only strong men or those from poor families would sign up to join the army if the conditions were good. If the conditions were not good, basically anyone who was able to move could be recruited to serve in the army. It was not as sophisticated as it is in later generations.

It turns out that there are too many people in later generations, and even the conditions for joining the army have become so strict.
