Traveling with Indra

Chapter 16 Confession

Seeing the obvious disdain on Mingluo's face, Asura went forward to work with a wronged look on his face. He first cleaned up the yard, fetched water and rags to clean the house, and then picked up the axe and started chopping wood.

Seeing how well behaved he was, Mingluo cooked two more bowls of rice. Her fermented bean curd was finally ready, and it tasted especially delicious with one spoonful, so today's dish was barbecued pork.

The barbecued pork belly was very fatty and the glossy red color looked particularly beautiful. She picked up a slice and took a bite. It was salty and juicy with a hint of sweetness.

"Successful. The temperature on the second layer of the oven is quite reliable." Ming Luo narrowed her eyes and cut two more strips and put them into the special lunch box. Indra would definitely like the taste.

She cut the lean barbecued pork with plum-shaped meat for herself. She had been eating too much meat and fish recently and felt too greasy. She decided to eat something light.

Mingluo blanched the fern that she found today, cut it into pieces, and beat an egg, and served the fern scrambled eggs on the table. She also added some cold water spinach, and the two meat dishes and one vegetable dish were done.

"Asura, stop chopping wood and eat."

"it is good!"

Asura saw the barbecued pork on the table at the first sight. Looking at the cut meat, the fat was so beautiful and crystal clear that he couldn't help but take a bite. His whole person was sublimated.

"It's delicious and sweet." Ashura said vaguely, with little stars twinkling in his eyes.

"That plate is for you. It's too fatty. I'd like something lighter." Ming Luo was eating the lean barbecued pork. It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The Indralei oven was really good. The temperature was controlled so well.

Looking at Mingluo's juicy little mouth, Asura couldn't help laughing. They were eating meat, why would they want to eat something light? Did lean meat become light?

"What are you laughing at? Go home after dinner." Ming Luo glanced at the mosquitoes flying outside the screen door and rolled her eyes speechlessly.

"...Oh." Asura held the bowl and started eating, but he didn't want to go back for the time being.

Asura did what he thought. After dinner, he did not go back but continued to help Mingluo with work. He helped her loosen the soil in the vegetable garden and filled the water tank when Mingluo fetched water to take a bath. He cleaned the kitchen and climbed onto the roof to pick up straw.

Ming Luo, who was taking a shower, heard the stomping sound on the roof and felt helpless. What was this brat going to do? Something was particularly wrong today!

She quickened her shower, dried her hair and opened the door. The furnishings in the room were simple, a wooden bed with a bamboo mat, a wardrobe, a bookshelf, a sofa, and a coffee table were all made of logs, which were made by Indra and Asura. There was a bamboo couch by the window, and the dressing table over there looked simple.

Mingluo came out of the bedroom and saw Asura whose clothes and sleeves were soaked with water. This guy had just washed his face and was drinking tea with a bowl in his arms.

"Tell me, what's wrong with you today?" Ming Luo gave up and told him to go back quickly.

After finishing his work, Asura did not respond. He did not know how to start. Looking at Mingluo's cold expression, his restless heart calmed down again. Holding the cold teacup, he smiled faintly.

He always comes to bother Mingluo, as if he feels at ease when he sees her.

"Mingluo...I like you." Asura said this, and everything seemed to become clear.

Ming Luo on the opposite side had a confused look on her face, her peach blossom eyes had turned into equal signs, and her face was full of the expression 'What were you talking about just now, kid?'

Indra, who was about to knock on the door outside the living room, paused when he heard these words coming out of the window. He saw that his brother had not returned so late, so he came out to look for him. When he sensed that Chakra was here, he was ready to capture him, but he didn't expect to hear these words.

As an older brother, it seemed like he shouldn't bother.

Ashura is only 16, right? He already likes girls?

Indra was entangled in the melancholy of his younger brother growing up, with that inexplicable feeling lingering in his heart. He just stood quietly at the door, waiting for an answer with his brother.

"What do you like about me?" Ming Luo was an adult after all, and she quickly came to her senses.

"You are very gentle, and you can cook." Asura's cheeks flushed slightly. Mingluo actually asked so directly!

"So... do you wish to marry me?"

"Of course."

Ming Luo took a sip of water and said decisively: "But I don't want to."

"Why?" The redness on Asura's face disappeared visibly. His eyes were like an abandoned dog, as if asking how could you not want me?

"I'm not gentle, and I don't want to cook for you." Mingluo felt that her defense mechanism was triggered. She especially didn't like the words "I want to marry you because you cook delicious food." It reminded her of the experience of girls in the village who were married off early, and they were virtuous, capable, able to endure hardships, and gave birth to boys.

Calm down, this has nothing to do with Asura.

"Mingluo?"

"You're just greedy, you don't really like me."

Indra's mouth twitched outside the door. He felt that what Mingluo said made sense. His younger brother was just a child, just greedy, so he wanted to take Mingluo home.

[I just haven’t cooked for a few days. This kid…really!]

"I... am... not..." Asura had no way of justifying himself, he was indeed very greedy.

Ming Luo put her arms on the table, propped up her chin and asked with interest. "Then you pick one. Do you really like my cooking skills and have the illusion that you like me, or do I just reject you outright because I don't like you?"

Asura felt the cool breeze blowing in the hot summer, and his mind was swaying as he looked at the swaying oil lamp on the table. He was just expressing his love, why did he have to make a choice?

"I...I...choose the first one." Ashura wanted to bite his sleeve and cry. He felt that if he chose the second one, it would be embarrassing, but what if he didn't even have any friends?

The mountain breeze at night brought a hint of coolness from the summer, and Indra, who was outside the door, dodged and hid. It was obviously his brother who was rejected, and he felt inexplicably funny.

If you are a person who cares about face, you will choose the first option.

Now that Mingluo gives Asura this choice, he won't be so embarrassed in the future.

"Go back, the barbecued pork in the kitchen is for Indra, thank him for sending me fish a few days ago."

"...Then I'll go back." Ashura held the wooden lunch box and looked at the full moon in the sky, feeling extremely depressed. He finally mustered up the courage to say that he liked her, but was rejected directly.

Indra followed closely behind, watching his brother open the wooden box and eat the barbecued pork that Mingluo gave him piece by piece. He kept muttering: "Take a bite of the sad pork, it's delicious! There's still so much, take another bite."

Indra pinched a piece of bark, and his brows twitched. [You still say you are not greedy! ]

Sure enough, when he returned to the Ninja Clan, Ashura found that the char siu had been completely eaten up. When he saw his "brother coming out", he hid the lunch box behind him guiltily.
