The Japanese Washizu Division stabilized the transportation lines and began to focus on clearing out the guerrillas in southwestern Shandong. It continued to spend large sums of money to purchase information and was always successful.

Most guerrillas had no space to survive. After several rounds of encirclement and suppression, many teams were wiped out, and the rest were forced to live in a corner, barely surviving, with no room for movement at all.

Some teams couldn't stand the endless hiding and betrayal. Seeing that the team had no morale, the captain announced the disbandment on the spot and the team members returned to their homes. However, some team members were homeless or didn't want to go home at all. They still wanted to fight the Japanese to the death. There was no room for development in southwestern Shandong. At this time, many people remembered the Black Eagle who was recruiting soldiers in Mengshan.

Although Hei Diao had left southwestern Shandong for a month, his story was still circulating among the guerrillas. People started to set out one after another. There was no large-scale team, only groups of three or five at most, and there were also lone travelers.

Some of them had fought side by side with Black Eagle's team, and some were members of the guerrillas who had been helped or rescued by The Condor Heroes at that time. These brave warriors who hated the Japanese invaders so much took firm steps, dodged the Japanese blockades one by one, and headed towards Mengshan.

There had been no troops coming to join the team for many days, and Chen Feng had been racking his brains to think of how to expand the team. Suddenly, people came, in groups of three, in teams of five, some on horseback, some on foot, and they were all in poor condition.

Some of the individuals were in a similar situation to the Yang sisters at the time, very down and out, but everyone looked at Chen Feng with hope in their eyes. They had only one request, which was to join the team to fight the Japanese.

Chen Feng personally screened the visitors to prevent any Japanese spies, but he was obviously overthinking it. Although Black Eagle had a big name and there were rumors that he was leading a team to kill the devils in Mengshan, in the eyes of the Japanese, he was just a clown bandit and did not attract any attention.

There was no rush to organize them into groups. They were first treated with good food and meat to allow them to recover. Those with injuries were promptly treated by the medical team. Although the visitors had delicious meals, they were very anxious in their hearts. Looking at the team that was as fierce as wolves and tigers, they wished they could join in and train immediately.

After five or six days, the number of people coming gradually stopped. There were a total of 51 people, who were considered the survivors of the Southwest Shandong Guerrillas. None of them wanted to go home or were homeless.

Chen Feng organized thirty of them into a platoon, the second platoon of the first company of the Yimeng Guerrillas, appointed Wu Tianxiang as the platoon leader, distributed guns and ammunition, and immediately began training.

The recruit platoon performed very well and completed its recruit training. Thirty people were selected and assigned to the second platoon of the second company, with Ding San as the platoon leader and instructor.

The remaining twenty-one guerrillas and thirteen recruits were assigned to the second platoon of the third company, with Lu Feihu as the platoon leader and instructor.

The guerrillas have basically taken shape now, with three companies, six platoons and a medical team, totaling nearly 200 people. There is no problem in attacking the county town, but there is no shortage of food, weapons and ammunition. Chen Feng does not want to expose his strength too early, so the team is still mainly focused on training and tunnel construction.

At the same time, China and Japan are competing in Hefei.

At dawn on June 1938, 6, the Japanese army launched an attack on Qiaotouji from Longquan Mountain to Baima Mountain. The Japanese army first bombarded the positions of the 29th Regiment with artillery fire, and then launched a hand-to-hand fight. The battalion commander of the 284rd Battalion of the 284th Regiment, Jiang Zixiang, platoon leaders Qiu Shaohua and Ding Jiabin were killed in the fierce battle, and platoon leaders Wu Jimin and Liu Zhaomin were seriously injured. The rest of the officers and soldiers suffered many casualties and missing. At about 3 pm, the 3st Battalion of the 284th Regiment deployed at Dongshankou arrived to support, but due to unfavorable terrain and heavy casualties, it was ultimately unable to stop the enemy from invading the west. That night, the Japanese army used part of its forces to contain the 1th Regiment, and its main force joined forces with Chengsong Koga's unit in Jiongyang River and continued to advance towards Hefei.

At this time, the 41st Division deployed in Yuantuan, Kaoshanji, and Caojiadian was ordered to move north to attack Fengyang and Bengbu; while the 87th Division of the 199th Army (Commander Luo Shujia) that rushed to Hefei from Huangling Station in Hubei had not yet arrived, causing loopholes in Hefei's defense system. Xu Yuanquan immediately adjusted the deployment, ordering the 48th Regiment of the 144th Brigade of the 288th Division to rush back to Hefei from Liangyuan and Badou areas to deploy defenses; ordering the 144th Regiment of the 287th Brigade to rush to Cuozhen to wait for an opportunity to flank the Japanese army; and ordering the 283rd Regiment near Xia Ge Town to get rid of the Japanese army at night and withdraw to the vicinity of Dianbu as a reserve.

On June 6, another 30 to 287 Japanese soldiers disguised as members of the Red Spear Society landed on the north bank of Chaohu Lake. After occupying Liujiafan and Changlinhe, they used part of their forces to contain the 48th Regiment stationed in Cuozhen, while their main force detoured to the area west of Cuozhen, waiting for an opportunity to attack Hefei. To secure Hefei, the 30th Division gradually got rid of the enemy on the night of the th and rushed back to Hefei City to deploy defenses.

At about 7:2 p.m. on July 3, the Japanese troops advancing westward from Changlinhe and Liujiafan approached the east of Hefei. There were 287 to 199 Japanese troops in Huangjia Village, southeast of Wulimiao Wang Daying. The 573th Regiment first concentrated artillery fire and then charged with infantry, and the Japanese troops were repelled. The 573rd Brigade of the 1th Division (Brigade Commander Fang Jiping), which was ordered to rush to Hefei, arrived in Hefei before noon and deployed defenses in the Daxigang area outside the South Gate. In order to prevent the enemy from detouring to the southwest of the city to cut off the Anhe Highway, the 287rd Brigade occupied the position west of Wang Daying on the right side of the 5th Regiment with a regiment of troops. At 30:1000 p.m., more than 284 Japanese troops on both sides of the Hechao Highway attacked the 7th Regiment fiercely, and at the same time moved part of them westward. At 30:287 p.m., the enemy concentrated fire and repeatedly charged at the Zhujiagang and Wang Daying positions defended by the 5th Regiment with heavy artillery fire, attempting to break through in one fell swoop. The two sides fought fiercely and hand-to-hand for five times, but the Japanese army failed to break through the position.
