Chen Feng received a telegram from Wu Tianxiang at eight o'clock in the evening, stating that the New Fourth Division of the National Army launched an ambush on the Ono Regiment of the Japanese Army at Cuijiayu at four o'clock in the afternoon.

The Japanese army was caught off guard and suffered heavy casualties. However, with the rescue of follow-up troops, the situation was about to be reversed half an hour later. The national army launched a charge across the board, and the troops of both sides were interspersed together, launching a brutal hand-to-hand combat.

After more than an hour of hand-to-hand combat, both sides suffered heavy casualties. The Japanese army chose to retreat only when it got dark. With nearly two thousand troops, only more than six hundred were withdrawn, and most of them were wounded. The troops withdrew from the Xiawei Pass. Because there were too many wounded, all the mules, horses and carriages were lost, and they could not move at all. They occupied a mountain pass and set up camp to rest.

The New Fourth Division of the National Army also suffered heavy casualties, with an estimated loss of more than half of its troops. Faced with the Japanese army's machine gun array, after losing several hundred troops, they chose to clean up the battlefield and retreat. Although the New Fourth Division suffered huge losses, it also captured a lot of spoils. The infantry artillery in the river and the light and heavy machine guns and mortars scattered on the battlefield were all things they urgently needed. After cleaning up the battlefield and burying the bodies of both sides, the team returned to Yishui City overnight with the wounded.

The opportunity has come! Chen Feng judged the situation. There were not many devils in Mengyin, and they would not be dispatched easily. The remnants of the Japanese army would definitely retreat to Mengyin City to rest tomorrow. The opportunity was rare, and it was time to attack.

At ten o'clock that night, Lu Feihu and Yang Yuejiao were left behind to lead the new recruits to defend Mengshan, while the rest of the team went out to prepare for an ambush east of Mengyin.

They drove out the previously hidden trucks, and three platoons plus the assault team, nearly a hundred people, all rode on horses and in cars, and headed straight to the east of Mengyin from the southeast of Mengyin.

Early in the morning, Ono Motohisa was awakened by the screams of Japanese soldiers. He had just had a nightmare and was drenched in cold sweat.

It's over, I'm finished, no one can save me. A team of nearly two thousand people was ambushed because of my arrogance, and now there are only six hundred defeated soldiers left. Although I know it's very dangerous to camp in the wild, I really can't move. There are too many wounded, and all the radio stations are broken. There is no way to contact the defenders of Mengyin. Fortunately, the national army in Yishui also suffered heavy casualties and retreated to Yishui City to rest.

Ono Motohisa walked around the military camp and found that more than a dozen seriously injured soldiers had lost their lives. He could not wait any longer and had to return to Mengyin to rescue the wounded, otherwise the death toll would rise. Only more than 200 people could participate in the battle.

Ono Motohisa ordered two teams to search the village, and to capture anyone they saw to carry the wounded, even if they had mule or horse carts. The two teams entered two villages respectively, but there was no one there. The people saw the Japanese setting up camp and ran up the mountain at night. There were no mules or horses, no cows, but every household had a cart, and some yards could even find carts pulled by cows and horses. They would use whatever they had as long as it could transport the wounded.

At half past nine, Ono Motohisa set off with the remaining soldiers. The lightly wounded walked on their own, while the uninjured pulled and pushed the seriously wounded. More than a dozen Japanese soldiers followed behind with Type 99 rifles to cover their retreat. This strange team rushed towards Mengyin.

After crossing the Gaozhuang River, they reached the border of Mengyin. Ono Motohisa breathed a sigh of relief, thinking there should be no danger anymore, and ordered the troops to rest for ten minutes. The Japanese soldiers didn't know how to use either carts or flatbed carts, and they stumbled along the way, but at least they didn't push the wounded into the ravine.

Ten minutes later, Ono Motohisa ordered the troops to continue on their journey and return to Mengyin before dark, otherwise it would be unsafe to camp anywhere.

Chen Feng led the team to meet up with Wu Tianxiang and set up an ambush at a location called Lujiazhuang. This location was a big corner of nearly 90 degrees, so it was not easy for the Japanese to find the ambush. Even if they found the ambush after turning around, it would not matter.

At 11:30 in the morning, the Japanese appeared. Chen Feng's eyes widened. What was going on? There were white bandages everywhere, like a funeral procession. This lineup was really miserable!

The seriously injured in the car kept wailing, with bandages on their heads, arms and legs. The people walking beside them were not much better off, they didn't even have the strength to howl, they just lowered their heads and limped along closely behind the "funeral procession".

Observing through the telescope, the Japanese soldiers pushing and pulling the carts had veins exposed and looked very tired. A Japanese soldier dressed as a colonel was helping the soldiers pull the cart. On the cart were Type 92 heavy machine guns and mortars. It looked like the cargo was very heavy. The colonel looked very painful. Chen Feng planned to end their suffering.

When the team was completely in the ambush circle, Chen Feng's 98k shot the colonel in the head. After hearing the gunshot, everyone pulled out the grenade and knocked it, then threw it out three seconds later. Each person had ten grenades, and nearly a thousand grenades were thrown into the Japanese team. All of them exploded in mid-air, leaving no blind spots.

After the explosion, they continued to fire submachine guns and point fingers at the enemy with rifles. The group of wounded soldiers and the exhausted enemy soldiers had no reaction at all. The dozen or so enemy soldiers who were left behind didn't even have time to set up their Type 99 light rifles before they were pointed at by the ten special forces from the second platoon of the second company.

Three minutes later, Chen Feng ordered to stop shooting. There was no movement on the road. Even so, the guerrillas followed Chen Feng's request and continued to search while firing. After a round of inspection, they found that they were all dead, not even one was pretending to be dead.

Chen Feng ordered to clean up the battlefield and take away all the weapons and equipment. Chen Feng turned the mountain and drove the truck out. There was not much oil left! It was just enough to go back. It was time to get some gasoline. This thing was too convenient.

Fifteen minutes later, the team began to evacuate. The trucks were loaded with weapons, ammunition and soldiers, and the cavalry easily protected the trucks and returned along the original route.

The ambush went so smoothly that the team suffered almost no casualties, no sacrifices, no serious injuries, only a few minor injuries who were able to get on the truck after being simply bandaged by Liu Caiyun.

At three o'clock in the afternoon, the team returned to Mengshan smoothly. The ammunition was carried up the mountain and the trucks were hidden. After everything was done, Chen Feng personally counted the seized supplies.

Four mortars, eight boxes of shells; two Type 92 heavy machine guns; fifteen Type 99 light machine guns, nine standard Nambu pistols, four hundred and eighty three-gun rifles, more than seven hundred melon grenades, and more than forty thousand rounds of light and heavy machine gun and rifle bullets.

Now that he has enough equipment for a battalion, Chen Feng is now obsessed with hoarding equipment. For some reason, he feels inexplicably anxious about the lack of firepower. It may be because he is thinking about defending Mount Meng!

Gathering all the teams, including the recruit company, Chen Feng summarized the raid:

"Today is the first big battle since the establishment of our Yimeng Guerrillas. Although we are facing a group of defeated soldiers, everyone has demonstrated excellent combat skills and left the opponent with no ability to fight back."

"What I want to say is that more sweat in peacetime means less blood in war. There are only a few lightly wounded today. One reason is that the Japanese were not prepared at all. Second, there were too many wounded Japanese. Those who were not injured were also very tired. Their guns were on their shoulders, and they had no time to take them off and shoot. Third, and most importantly, everyone understood the tactical arrangements very thoroughly and fully implemented the previous orders. This was done very well today, and I hope everyone will continue to carry forward this tradition."

"Okay, everyone has worked very hard. Without further ado, platoon leaders, don't forget to hand in your battle summary tomorrow. Now we are dismissed."
