I am the Pope in the Western Fantasy World
Chapter 34 Love Story
Soon after the doorbell rang, the door opened.
An old man who looked like a housekeeper came out. When he saw them, he smiled and asked, "What can I do for you?"
"Hello, we're looking for Miss Julie."
The housekeeper looked them up and down and said, "Okay, please come in. I'll go tell Miss Julie."
"Ah."
Phil Gray and others sat down in the living room, and a maid brought them fruit, tea and other things.
After a while, a woman came down the stairs.
She looked a little haggard, with redness around her eyes. She was wearing a black dress and a bow hairpin in her short golden hair.
"Hello." Her voice was a little hoarse. It seemed that she had been crying for a long time because of her lover's disappearance and her father's urging to get married.
"Hello Miss Julie!"
Before Phil Gray could say hello, the nobleman stood up first and extended his hand to Miss Julie.
"Hello, who are you?" Miss Julie did not extend her hand to the noble but sat on the sofa opposite them.
"Ms. Julie, I'm Caesar Isaiah from the last Life Celebration Rally..." As soon as the noble finished speaking, he was stared at by Patrick and instantly dared not speak again.
Miss Julie gave him a polite smile in return.
"Ms. Julie, we saw the task you posted in the Hall of God's Favored. Can you give us detailed information about the carpenter? This will make it easier for us to find him." Phil Gray said.
"Of course. I met him half a month ago. At that time, a corner of my bed was broken due to mice gnawing on it, so my father asked him to come and make a new wooden bed for me." Miss Julie gradually fell into memories.
"He has an extremely handsome face, short brown hair, charming eyes like sapphires, and is full of life and energy. He asked me what style I liked and wanted to make a unique bed for me. He was also very polite and would only stay in the same room with me if the servants were present."
As she spoke, an obsessed smile appeared on her face.
Phil Gray didn't know why, but he always felt that this smile was a little strange.
"After a while, we got to know each other. I know his name is Peter. He lives in a small town called Kaiton not far from Dur City. Because his parents died, he can only rely on his carpentry skills to make a living. But he is so hardworking. He made furniture for nobles and saved hundreds of gold coins. He said he would open a carpentry shop in Dur City. I will take care of the shop and he will go to the door to complete the business." Miss Julie was a little shy. "On the fifth day, he made a bed for me. After that, we would date in the castle every night after my father fell asleep."
"He and I looked at the gray and white brick walls of the castle that had not changed for hundreds of years, and at the stars twinkling in the night sky, and expressed our longing and love for each other. However, one night, my father found him. He kicked Peter out of the castle and forbad me to see him again. He also asked me to marry the Marquis Colin. He never came to the castle again. I asked the maid to go out and look for him, but there was no news." Miss Julie cried softly again.
"Is that so? Then let's go to the town you mentioned..." Phil Gray hadn't finished his words when he heard footsteps, followed by a man's voice shouting angrily, "Take her back to the room!"
"No, father, why did you come back so suddenly?" Miss Julie shook her head. The two maids pulled her up the stairs, and she kept struggling, "No, I want to find my Peter!"
"Count Tours, how could you treat Miss Julie like this!" The nobleman named Caesar stood up and asked angrily.
"Oh? Don't treat her like this? Let her continue to tell you about her love story with the carpenter? Tell you that I broke up the couple, and then let you look for an imaginary character that only exists in the girl's mind?"
Phil Gray turned around and saw Earl of Tours, leaning on a cane, with a hint of anger on his dignified face.
"Imaginary characters? What does that mean?" asked Phil Gray.
Count Tours's eyes darkened, he sighed, and sat down on the sofa helplessly, "Hey, what carpenter? I have never invited a carpenter to my home."
"Ah?" Patrick opened his eyes wide in surprise.
"What?" Caesar said in disbelief.
Eli's hand, which was casually waving the flower, also stopped.
"So, the carpenter Miss Julie was talking about doesn't exist at all, and all this is her fantasy?" Phil Gray asked again.
This was indeed somewhat unexpected. For the sake of an imaginary lover, she actually posted this task in the Hall of God's Favored Ones. There might be something wrong with her mental state.
"Yes, for the past half month, she has been crying and yelling every day for me to return her little carpenter, whose name seems to be Peter, but where can I find such a person for her?"
"But she said she would date the little carpenter every night." Phil Gray asked again uncertainly, wondering in his heart, could it be that the earl deliberately said that the little carpenter did not exist?
"No, she sleeps very soundly every night. Sometimes even the maid can't wake her up. Why would she want to meet her?" Count Tours shook his head. "You all came from the Hall of the God's Blessed, right? I heard that she even spent 500 gold coins to hire someone to help her. It's ridiculous."
It seems that the Countess had known that her daughter had issued this task a long time ago. No wonder she rushed back in time this afternoon. Perhaps she knew that someone had taken up this task.
"As for the truthfulness of what I said, you will know after reading this." Earl of Tours signaled to the butler with his eyes, and the butler took out a book from his arms.
The cover of the book depicts a very handsome young man and a beautiful young lady. In the middle of the cover is the name of the book, "Peter and Anna", with a few words written below: "A noble lady and her carpenter lover, a lingering love story."
"Well, could it be that Miss Julie fantasized about a lover because she read this book?" Patrick was speechless.
Phil Gray picked up the book and flipped through it casually. The content of the book was similar to Miss Julie's description. The bed of the noble lady Anna was broken, and her father asked a carpenter to make a bed. Anna fell in love with the carpenter, but her father disagreed.
Turning to the ending, Anna was forced to marry someone else and leave her city. Twenty years later, her husband died, and she returned to the city where the carpenter was. He opened a carpentry shop, remained unmarried, and was waiting for her. They lived happily together.
"It is just as Miss Julie said. We are the ones who disturbed her, but Miss Julie may have some mental problems. Your Excellency should ask a professional to take a look." Phil Gray stood up and suggested that since the mission was like this, they would not be able to complete it at all, so it was time to leave.
"Okay, thank you for your trouble." Count Tours also stood up, and the butler took out a bag of gold coins. "I will ask them to cancel the mission of 500 gold coins. You can take these."
"Okay, Earl Tours, we'll take our leave first. Goodbye." Phil Gray took the gold coins and led everyone out of the door.
Only Caesar still looked reluctant to leave.
After getting on the carriage, Patrick sighed, "I didn't expect this result."
Then he looked at the bag in his hand and asked, "How many gold coins did the count give us?"
